The Order: 1886 is not officially available as a native Windows game. The PlayStation 4 exclusive can now boot on a special fork of the shadPS4 emulator, but current footage is experimental: performance ranges from more than 200 frames per second in the opening sequence to 60–84 FPS near the city on one high-end test system, with shader stutters, glitches and visual artifacts.
What is The Order: 1886’s official platform?
Ready At Dawn announced The Order: 1886 in 2013 as an original intellectual property targeted exclusively for PlayStation 4. Sony’s 2014 release announcement confirmed a global launch on February 20, 2015, exclusively on PS4. There is no documented Sony-authorized native PC port in the evidence available for this report.

The game is a third-person action title set in an alternate-history Victorian London, almost 40 years after the Industrial Revolution. Players serve as knights in an ancient order fighting an ancient enemy. The setting includes Lycans—creatures with lupine and feline traits—and a rebellion threatening London.

The recent PC demonstration runs through a special fork of shadPS4, an emulator for PlayStation 4 software. That distinction matters: an emulator translates console code while the game is running; it is not the same product as a compiled Windows edition sold by the publisher.
#1 Best Overall
The build remains under active experimentation. The reported issues include shader-compilation stutters, visual glitches and rendering artifacts. A scene that looks smooth in one run may pause while shaders compile or display incorrectly in another, so the footage should not be treated as proof of a finished PC release.
Reported performance and test conditions
DSOGaming’s August 14, 2026 report measured the emulator on an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 at 1080p. In the introduction, the game sometimes exceeded 200 FPS. Near the city sequence, the same report observed 60–84 FPS.
Those numbers come from one report and one system, not a universal benchmark. CPU and GPU utilization were described as well below full use, indicating that another part of the emulation stack—not simply graphics horsepower—was limiting performance in the tested scenes.
| Evidence | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Intro sequence | Sometimes above 200 FPS at 1080p on the reported Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 4080 system |
| Near the city | 60–84 FPS on that same test system |
| Observed problems | Shader-compilation stutters, visual glitches and artifacts |
| Official PC status | No documented native Windows release or fixed 30 FPS PC cap |
Native PC version versus PS4 emulation
| Factor | Original PS4 release | Current PC route |
|---|---|---|
| Platform legitimacy | Official Sony release for PlayStation 4 | Experimental emulation through a special shadPS4 fork |
| Frame rate evidence | The supplied record does not establish a PC-style performance figure | Above 200 FPS in the intro and 60–84 FPS near the city in one report |
| Stability | Commercial console product | Shader stutters, glitches and artifacts were reported |
| Hardware requirements | PlayStation 4 hardware | No official Windows requirements; results depend on emulator development and the user’s system |
| Display and input flexibility | PS4-oriented settings and peripherals | Potentially broader PC configuration, but behavior depends on emulator support |
| Physical extras | Retail discs and a documented Collector’s Edition | No native PC retail edition documented |
Can you play it on PC without a PS4?
Technically, the emulator demonstration shows that some PC users can run portions of the game without using a PS4. Practically, this is not yet equivalent to buying and installing a finished PC version. Compatibility, image quality and frame pacing can change as the emulator fork evolves, and the reported build already exhibits visible defects and stutter.
Rank #3
Anyone evaluating the footage should therefore describe it as PS4 emulation on PC, not “The Order: 1886 for Windows.” The evidence also does not support a claim that the game is locked to 30 FPS on PC; the reported runs were far above that in some scenes.
Where can you buy The Order: 1886?
The legitimate, documented product path is the PS4 release. Search for The Order 1886 PS4 game and verify the seller’s region, disc condition, price and return policy before purchasing. A PS4 disc is not a native PC license and does not turn into a Windows edition.

What to expect if you try the emulator route
- Confirm that your copy of the PS4 game is legitimate and that your use complies with the laws and terms applicable where you live.
- Use a current, reputable shadPS4 build and read its compatibility notes before expecting a complete playthrough.
- Expect shader-compilation pauses during first runs and keep settings conservative while diagnosing graphics issues.
- Judge performance scene by scene rather than assuming the reported 200-plus FPS intro result applies throughout the game.
- Keep the PS4 release available as a fallback if a mission, cutscene or effect fails in emulation.
Bottom line
The headline “The Order: 1886 now runs natively on PC at 30 FPS” is inaccurate. The original game remains a PS4 exclusive, released globally on February 20, 2015. Experimental shadPS4 emulation can reach above 200 FPS in the intro and 60–84 FPS near the city on a high-end test system, but it is not a native port, has no established 30 FPS cap and still shows stutter and graphical defects.
