Is Crystal Lake a Friday the 13th prequel?
Yes. The series is positioned as a prequel focused on Pamela Voorhees and young Jason’s backstory. Its premise follows single mother Pam after her sickly son Jason drowned in Crystal Lake almost a year earlier. When two strangers arrive at her door to investigate her past, their visit sets off a disturbing chain of events and a mystery about who Pam Voorhees is. Callum Vinson plays young Jason.
Who plays Pamela Voorhees?
Linda Cardellini plays Pamela Voorhees, including in the online opening-scene preview. Other cast members listed in related coverage include William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. Bloody Disgusting’s series coverage identifies the project as a Friday the 13th prequel.
When does Crystal Lake premiere, and where can you watch it?
All episodes are scheduled to premiere on Peacock on Thursday, October 15, 2026. The reported release is exclusive to Peacock; the online clip is only a preview, not the series premiere.

The clip puts Pamela—not the familiar masked killer—at the center of the opening, and its graphic image signals a disturbing tone. That fits the reported premise, which explores Pam’s history and the events surrounding young Jason. The series also shifts the franchise into a serialized format: all episodes are scheduled for a Peacock release, rather than a feature-film debut.
