The Loan Store, Inc. changed its name to Averra Financial, Inc., effective October 1, 2026. The company says the new name reflects its expansion into a broader national wholesale mortgage platform, while its broker-facing business continues under the new brand. It says account executives, programs, pricing, approvals and loans already in process are unchanged.
Why did The Loan Store change its name?
Averra Financial says The Loan Store name no longer represented the company’s full scope after growth in product breadth, technology and national reach. The company points to its acquisition of Homepoint’s wholesale business in 2023 as part of that expansion. CEO Phil Shoemaker said, “The Loan Store name got us here, but it no longer tells the whole story of who we are.” (Averra Financial announcement, October 1, 2026; HousingWire, October 5, 2026)

Averra says brokers can continue working with their existing account executives and that loan programs, pricing, approvals and pipelines are unaffected by the name change. Loans already in process are expected to close as scheduled. HousingWire likewise reported that broker terms and loans in process remain unchanged.

Non-QM growth and the Aven HELOC partnership
Averra reported that its non-QM volume increased 68% fiscal year-to-date through August 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. This is the company’s figure, not an independently audited statistic in the cited coverage.

The company also says its HELOC partnership with Aven funded its first loan in May 2026. It describes the option as giving brokers a digital way to help clients access home equity without refinancing an existing mortgage. The announcement does not establish public consumer eligibility rules or a publisher referral arrangement; the described route is through the broker channel.

Averra calls itself “one of the four largest” wholesale mortgage lenders in the United States. That is the company’s characterization in its announcement and is not independently substantiated there. National Mortgage Professional separately reported that The Loan Store ranked fourth among U.S. wholesale lenders by third-quarter 2025 volume, citing Inside Mortgage Finance data; the underlying data is not reproduced in the cited reporting.
