T3 reported on 15 October 2026 that UK sales are expected in 2027, with a projected price below £20,000 (about $26,200 in that report).
The new car revives the space-saving idea behind the Fortwo while using a larger battery, substantially more range and modern driver-assistance equipment. A Smart #2 BRABUS is also planned, but its power, acceleration, battery, range and price have not yet been published.

What the Smart #2 is
The Smart #2 follows Smart’s newer numerical naming system but visually recalls the Fortwo: a very short urban car designed for two occupants and easy manoeuvring. It has two doors, two seats and a 6.95-metre turning circle, making it suited to narrow streets and small parking spaces.

The earlier car became famous for fitting into spaces that larger hatchbacks could not, including Smart’s sideways-parking demonstration.

These figures come from T3’s 15 October 2026 launch report, rather than a final official technical release. The eventual homologated range and charging performance may therefore differ by market, wheel choice or testing procedure.

Up to 205 miles of range
The reported maximum range is 205 miles from a 35.8 kWh battery. That combination is aimed at urban and short-distance driving rather than long motorway trips, where speed, weather and heating or air-conditioning use can reduce real-world range.

Fast charging in under 20 minutes
Smart quotes a 65 kW fast-charging capability and a 10–80% session in under 20 minutes. The time is a claim for the stated charging window, not a promise that every public charger or battery condition will deliver the same result. Owners planning to charge overnight will generally need compatible home-charging equipment and a suitable electrical installation.

Availability of individual features can depend on specification level and market. The two-seat layout keeps the car focused on city mobility, so buyers who regularly carry rear passengers or bulky luggage will need a larger vehicle.
Is there a Smart #2 BRABUS?
Yes. T3 reports that a Smart #2 BRABUS is planned and that a small number of images have been shown. However, no confirmed technical specification was available in that report.

Smart and BRABUS have not yet published the new version’s horsepower, acceleration time, battery capacity, range, charging figures or price. Those numbers should not be inferred from the standard #2 or from older BRABUS models.

For context only, T3 says an earlier BRABUS Fortwo produced 107 bhp and covered 0–62 mph in 9.5 seconds. That historical car is not the specification of the forthcoming electric #2 BRABUS.

When will the electric Smart Fortwo replacement go on sale?
The returning model is expected to reach the UK in 2027. T3’s wording describes this as an expectation, not a confirmed delivery date or complete market rollout schedule. The final launch timing for other countries has not been established in the available report.
How much will the Smart #2 cost?
The expected UK price is below £20,000, which T3 equated to approximately $26,200. That is a projected starting position, not a confirmed retail price, and it does not establish the price of the BRABUS version, options, taxes or delivery charges.
Where can you register interest?
T3 says buyers can register interest in both the Smart #2 and Smart #2 BRABUS through the Smart UK website. Registration records interest; it is not an order, a guaranteed allocation or confirmation of the final price and specifications.

Until Smart or BRABUS releases final product material, these points should be treated as open rather than settled. The confirmed direction is a very small, fully electric two-seater, with the standard #2 expected first and a higher-performance BRABUS derivative to follow.
