Amazon’s Kindle Click is a $34.99 Bluetooth page-turn remote launched with the redesigned 2026 Kindle family. It is meant for reading while a Kindle is propped under the covers, on a treadmill or on an airplane tray table—not for the ordinary way most people hold an e-reader. That narrow use case explains both its appeal and why the accessory initially seems baffling.
What Kindle Click does
Kindle Click is a small handheld remote with forward and back page buttons plus side controls for brightness, according to TechRadar’s description. Amazon’s launch wording is explicit: “Kindle Click ($34.99): A compact Bluetooth remote for page turning—ideal for reading under the covers, on a treadmill, or on a tray table during a flight.”

The remote separates page navigation from the Kindle’s touchscreen. That matters when touching the display would mean moving an arm from under a blanket, interrupting a workout, or reaching across a carefully positioned device on a tray table. For normal handheld reading, however, the Kindle’s screen remains the simpler control.
Why Amazon released it in 2026
Amazon announced a redesigned Kindle range in October 2026 and introduced three related accessories: Kindle Click, a Page-Turn Cover and a charging dock. Amazon says Kindle usage exceeded 720 billion pages read in 2025 and that the Kindle business recorded double-digit global growth for three consecutive years. Those are Amazon’s company figures, not independent measurements.

The remote fills a specific hands-free gap. A Kindle can already be propped up, but turning a page normally still requires touching the screen. Kindle Click lets the reader keep the device stationary and operate it from a more comfortable position.
Does Kindle Click work with your Kindle?
Amazon says Kindle Click works with all new Kindle devices and with Kindle models released from 2024 onward. Check the exact product listing for your country before buying: inventory, firmware support and regional availability can differ.

Choose the remote for flexible positioning
Kindle Click is a separate handheld controller. You can leave the Kindle on a stand, pillow or treadmill shelf and hold the remote where your hand naturally rests. Its controls include page navigation and brightness adjustment, while the Kindle itself remains unattached.

Choose the cover for an attached control layout
The Page-Turn Cover integrates physical page buttons into a magnetic cover and communicates through pogo pins rather than Bluetooth. Amazon limits it to Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition. It costs $79.99, so it is the more expensive and less broadly compatible option, but it keeps the controls physically with the device.
Why older clip-on remotes were confusing
Many inexpensive page turners marketed for Kindle are not Bluetooth accessories. An Amazon-hosted manual for one such design says it “does not have Bluetooth function and does not need to be connected to your device through Bluetooth.” Instead, a screen-sensor clip detects a page-turn action from an RF remote.

That arrangement can add a clip to the screen edge, require careful alignment and exclude particular Kindle models. A July 2024 Amazon forum question described third-party clip devices as unreliable and bulky and raised concern about possible long-term damage. The post documents customer frustration and demand for an official product; it is not a controlled durability test.

Yes. Amazon describes Kindle Click as a Bluetooth page-turn remote, unlike RF clip systems that use a sensor attached to the display. The distinction matters because an RF clip does not pair through the Kindle’s Bluetooth settings and may physically cover part of the screen.

Amazon’s Bluetooth help documentation also explains an important limitation: only Kindle devices released during or after 2016 support Bluetooth, and supported Bluetooth functions are documented around audio devices for VoiceView or audiobooks. Pairing a Bluetooth phone, keyboard or mouse is not supported. In practice, that is why older Kindles generally cannot accept a generic Bluetooth page-turner as a normal human-interface device.
What older Kindle owners can use
If your Kindle predates 2024, do not assume Kindle Click will work merely because the device has some Bluetooth capability. Verify the model against Amazon’s published compatibility range. If it is excluded, an RF clip-on system may be the only practical physical page-turn option, but check the seller’s model list, clip clearance and return policy carefully. Such a product should not be described as Bluetooth.
Built-in alternatives to a remote
Amazon documents double-tap page turning on the 2024 Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition and the 2024 Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (12th Generation). The feature uses the accelerometer: tapping the device advances or reverses pages without touching the display control. Amazon cautions that double-tap operation may not work with every third-party case.
- Use double-tap if you own one of those two 2024 Signature Edition models and your case permits the motion.
- Use Kindle Click when the Kindle is out of reach or movement needs to be minimal.
- Use the Page-Turn Cover when you want buttons permanently attached and own a listed compatible Signature Edition.
How to decide whether Kindle Click makes sense
- Identify the exact Kindle model and generation in your device settings or purchase record.
- Open the local Amazon listing for Kindle Click and confirm that model is included; do not rely on a general “Kindle” label.
- Decide whether you need a handheld controller or buttons attached to the reader.
- For a handheld controller, compare the $34.99 Kindle Click with the limitations of RF clips. For an integrated cover, check the $79.99 Page-Turn Cover’s Signature Edition requirement.
- If you own an older model, treat generic Bluetooth pairing as unsupported unless Amazon specifically lists the device and accessory combination.
The bottom line on this baffling accessory
Kindle Click is unnecessary for ordinary close-up reading, which is why it looks odd at first glance. It becomes logical when the Kindle is deliberately positioned away from the reader or when touching the screen is inconvenient. For a 2024-or-later Kindle that Amazon’s local listing confirms as compatible, it is the cleanest native page-turn solution. The Page-Turn Cover is a pricier, attached alternative for two specific Signature Edition families. Older Kindle owners should expect model exclusions and should not confuse RF clip systems with Bluetooth.
