The New York Jets finished the 2025 regular season with zero interceptions—the first team to do so in a season since the NFL began tracking interceptions in 1933, according to NFL.com. That record does not rule out improvement in another part of the defense, but “improved” needs a specific statistic and time period. The available 2026 figures are in-season snapshots, not a completed-season comparison.
What the Jets’ 2025 interception record means
The Jets recorded zero interceptions in the 2025 regular season. The team’s official statistics and NFL.com’s 2025 interception table both show the result.
NFL.com described it as the first zero-interception season by any team since the league began tracking the statistic in 1933. That is a narrowly defined historical distinction: it concerns interceptions recorded over a regular season, not every pass defended or every kind of defensive takeaway.
How could the defense improve without intercepting passes?
“Improved” is incomplete unless it identifies what changed and over what period. A defense could be evaluated by interceptions, opponent passing efficiency, pressure or sacks, or points and yards allowed. A better result in one of those areas would not, by itself, change the fact that the team had no interceptions in the period being discussed.

The headline does not specify which measure or comparison supports the suggestion that the Jets might be improved. What Nahshon Wright said about moving on
Jets cornerback Nahshon Wright said the 2025 interception total had not come up in team meetings and emphasized a fresh start. NFL.com attributed this statement to Wright, via the team website’s Jack Bell:

“I honestly don’t think it’s been brought up at all [in meetings],” Wright said recently, via the team website’s Jack Bell. “I think 2025 was 2025 and I think we’re trying to turn over a new leaf, so we haven’t spoken about it at all.”
That is Wright’s account of the meetings and the team’s forward-looking approach. It does not establish why the Jets finished 2025 without an interception.

How to judge the next comparison
To assess whether the Jets’ defense is improving, compare the same stretches of games and identify the measure. Interceptions answer whether the defense took the ball away through catches; pressure, passing efficiency, points and yardage describe different parts of defensive performance. Until the comparison metric and time window are specified, the historical zero is established, but the broader improvement claim remains unproven.
