What the 16.7% figure actually measures
The reported offering used a $100 stated dividend base, a $15 annual dividend and a $90 purchase price. The arithmetic is:

That calculation describes the offer price only. It is not a fixed APY, a risk-free rate or a native Bitcoin yield. The transaction reportedly covered 7 million shares and produced approximately $630 million in gross proceeds, according to The Defiant’s 2026 report.

There is also a naming discrepancy to check. The offering has been reported as SATS, while Strive’s official product page uses SATA for the Nasdaq-listed preferred security. Investors should confirm the current ticker and terms with their broker before placing an order.
Why Bitcoin cannot generate this income by itself
Bitcoin does not pay interest or dividends, as Strive’s SEC risk disclosure states. The cash distribution therefore comes from Strive’s corporate financing and treasury strategy, not from coins producing an automatic yield.

Strive says offering proceeds may be used for Bitcoin and Bitcoin-related products, income-generating assets, working capital, capital expenditures and security repurchases. The economic bet is that those activities can produce enough value and cash flow to support the preferred financing cost.

If they do not, the preferred payment remains a claim on the company even as the common stock and Bitcoin holdings fluctuate.

What holders receive—and what they do not
- A stated dividend rate that can change: Strive’s product page lists a $13.00 annualized dividend paid daily in its current snapshot, but says the current rate is not indicative of the future rate and may be significantly lower.
- No unconditional payment promise: Cash dividends are subject to declaration by Strive’s board and are not guaranteed.
- No Bitcoin collateral: The security is not collateralized by Strive’s Bitcoin. It has a preferred claim on residual company assets.
- Market-price exposure: The security’s trading price can fall even during periods when dividends are declared.

Why the buyer’s yield changes after the offering
Once the security trades, your current yield is based on the price you pay, not automatically on the original $90 offer price. Use:
current yield = annualized dividend ÷ purchase price

A purchase below $90 would produce a higher current yield if the annualized dividend remained unchanged. A purchase above $90 would produce a lower yield. Either calculation can become obsolete if Strive adjusts the rate or the board does not declare a dividend.
The issuer’s 13.29% market-price yield on October 15, 2026 illustrates the difference between an offer-price calculation and a post-listing market calculation. It is a snapshot for that date, not a promise about future income.

Strive is raising preferred capital and deploying it across a mix of Bitcoin-related and corporate uses. For common shareholders, the strategy works only when the return on those uses exceeds the preferred funding cost after operating expenses, Bitcoin volatility, financing needs and any effects on the capital structure.
That hurdle is difficult to assess from a single headline metric. Bitcoin prices can move sharply, income-generating assets can underperform, and the company may need additional financing. The SEC disclosure also warns that Strive’s Bitcoin strategy has not been tested over a significant period or under varying market conditions.
How to interpret Strive’s Bitcoin Yield numbers
Strive reported a 22.2% Bitcoin Yield for the fourth quarter of 2025 and 13.8% quarter-to-date for the first quarter of 2026. The company cautions that Bitcoin Yield, Bitcoin Gain and Bitcoin $ Gain are not conventional measures of financial performance, valuation or liquidity.

Risk checklist before treating SATS as income
- Verify whether the security is identified as SATS or SATA in the current market listing and offering documents.
- Separate the original $90 offer-price yield from the market-price yield at the time you buy.
- Check the latest annualized rate rather than assuming the reported $15 dividend continues.
- Remember that each cash dividend requires board declaration and is not guaranteed.
- Assess the preferred claim as an unsecured corporate claim on residual assets, not as ownership of segregated Bitcoin.
- Expect the market value to move with Strive’s finances, Bitcoin volatility and broader demand for preferred securities.
- Treat Bitcoin Yield and related company metrics as non-conventional measures, not as personal investment returns.
Bottom line
Strive’s 16.7% headline is a financing calculation: $15 divided by the $90 offer price. The hidden trade is that investors exchange a potentially high cash distribution for issuer, market, rate and asset-priority risk. Bitcoin supplies no interest or dividend to fund the payment; Strive must generate the economics through its treasury and corporate activities, and its board must declare each dividend. The security can make sense only for investors who understand that trade and can tolerate an unsecured preferred claim whose value and income may change.
