Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →The first Galaxy Z Flip 7 renders correctly pointed to a familiar vertical clamshell, dual rear cameras and a larger cover display. But the earliest report’s 3.6-inch screen figure was not final: Samsung launched the phone on July 9, 2025, with a 4.1-inch edge-to-edge FlexWindow. The leak was a useful design preview, not a complete specification sheet.
What the exclusive first look actually showed
Android Headlines published the initial exclusive in February 2025, using CAD-based renders attributed to OnLeaks. The report was updated on March 5 with a revised cover-screen design. These were not Samsung-supplied product photographs. CAD renders are useful for exterior geometry, proportions, camera placement and port locations, but they cannot independently establish a processor, battery, software version, durability rating, price or retail availability. Android Headlines’ report remains the source for the original leak and its update.

The renders showed a book-style vertical flip phone that looked evolutionary rather than radical. They depicted two rear cameras beside the outer display, a centered punch-hole selfie camera on the inner screen and proportions close to the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The crease appeared less prominent in some images, but lighting and render quality can make a crease look subtler than it does on a physical handset.
Secondary coverage also warned that the images could not confirm internal specifications. Claims about a tougher hinge or a less visible crease were predictions, not conclusions that CAD imagery could prove. Digital Trends’ analysis made that distinction clear.
The cover-display story changed during the leak
The first report described a 3.6-inch cover display, only modestly larger than the Galaxy Z Flip 6’s 3.4-inch panel. The March update changed the more important detail: Samsung was reportedly moving away from the older folder-style cutout arrangement to a much more complete, approximately 4-inch outer screen, with both cameras integrated into the display area.
Samsung’s finished phone went further. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow with 948 × 1048 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung describes it as the largest cover display in the Galaxy Z Flip line. The change is more than a few tenths of an inch: the edge-to-edge layout gives notifications, widgets, quick replies and other supported tasks a larger, less interrupted canvas without opening the phone. Samsung’s announcement is documented in its global product release.

Exterior and displays
- Form: vertical clamshell foldable.
- Cover screen: 4.1-inch Super AMOLED, 948 × 1048, 120Hz.

|---|---|---|
| Vertical clamshell design | Vertical clamshell design retained | Correct |
| 3.6-inch cover display | 4.1-inch edge-to-edge Super AMOLED FlexWindow | Superseded by the March update and final product |
| Approximately 6.8-inch inner display | 6.9-inch full-rectangle display, or 6.8 inches by rounded-corner measurement | Close |
| Dual rear cameras | 50MP wide plus 12MP ultrawide | Correct in layout and camera count |
| About 166.6 × 75.2 × 6.9 mm | 166.7 × 75.2 × 6.5 mm unfolded | Close, but not exact |
| Possible Exynos 2500, 12GB RAM and 256GB/512GB storage | Exynos 2500, 12GB RAM and 256GB/512GB storage | Broadly correct |
| About $1,099 starting price | $1,099.99 for 256GB in the U.S. at launch | Approximately correct for that market |
| July or August launch window | Unveiled July 9; U.S. availability July 25, 2025 | Correct window |

| Feature | Galaxy Z Flip 6 | Galaxy Z Flip 7 |
|---|---|---|
| Cover display | 3.4 inches | 4.1 inches, edge-to-edge FlexWindow |
| Main display | 6.7 inches | 6.9-inch full rectangle; 6.8-inch rounded-corner measurement |
| Battery | 4,000mAh | 4,300mAh typical |
| Unfolded thickness | 6.9mm | 6.5mm |
| Cover-screen layout | Smaller notch/folder-style arrangement | Edge-to-edge display around the camera area |
The larger outer screen is the meaningful visual and usability upgrade. Its near-square shape still means some apps need cover-screen optimization, and a bigger panel can bring more accidental touches, battery consumption and repair expense. The phone also remains a two-camera system without a dedicated telephoto lens.

Price, availability and buying context
Samsung launched the U.S. Galaxy Z Flip 7 at $1,099.99 for 256GB and listed a 512GB version at $1,299.99 on the surfaced U.S. buying page. Prices, promotions and trade-in values are time-sensitive; the Samsung U.S. buy page showed up to $620 in trade-in savings and financing of $54.17 per month for the surfaced 512GB configuration when checked. Those offers depend on device eligibility, configuration and promotion dates.

Samsung’s launch coverage also positioned the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, starting at $899.99 with 128GB and 256GB options, as a cheaper route into the flip format. It is not an equivalent substitute: the FE uses lower-tier hardware and a different display configuration. Foldable owners should also compare deductibles, exclusions and replacement terms before choosing Samsung Care+ with Theft and Loss or carrier insurance.
Bottom line: a strong design leak with one important miss
The OnLeaks renders published by Android Headlines got the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s direction right: Samsung kept the compact vertical fold, dual-camera layout and familiar inner punch-hole while enlarging the outer display. The original 3.6-inch figure, however, was not the finished product. Samsung ultimately delivered a 4.1-inch edge-to-edge FlexWindow, making the cover screen—not the basic clamshell shape—the defining change from the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Use the leak as a historical design preview, and Samsung’s July 2025 specifications for the phone that actually shipped.
