ProcBoss (pboss) advertises a way to schedule standalone jobs using readable schedule examples such as everyday@9:11, rather than requiring the job to be an existing process managed by pboss. Its npm listing also says these jobs persist across reboots. Those are useful claims, but the listing is not a full syntax guide: it does not establish every supported schedule or explain how execution behaves in edge cases.
What is pboss cron?
ProcBoss is a process manager for Bun, Node.js, and Deno. Its npm package listing describes it as free and open source, and advertises a cron feature for scheduling jobs independently of processes managed by the manager. They suggest a more readable way to express a daily time or a dated run than a conventional numeric cron expression. But two examples do not define the complete grammar. The available package information does not establish which intervals, weekdays, ranges, time zones, or other recurring patterns are supported. Nor does it confirm that standard five-field cron expressions are accepted.

What should you verify before relying on it?
Before moving a production task to pboss, check the current official documentation for the installed version and your target operating system. The npm listing points to installation options through npm, Bun, Deno, and a universal installer, but installation requirements and commands can change; use its current instructions rather than relying on an unverified command.

- Find out what happens if the machine is offline at a scheduled time or the task fails.
- Confirm where output and errors are recorded and whether failed jobs are retried.

Who is pboss cron for?
It may be worth considering if you already use ProcBoss with Bun, Node.js, or Deno and want a scheduled task that need not be a managed application process. Its readable examples are a promising alternative to memorizing numeric expressions, but the available documentation is not enough to conclude that it covers every recurring schedule or provides all the operational controls a particular workload needs.
