What changes in 2027—and what does not
The Prime Video agreement begins with the 2027 ceremony and lasts six years, according to the Academy. It follows the rotating “Wheel Deal” among ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC, which concluded with the 2026 telecast. The Academy describes the new arrangement as an exclusive global home for the awards; it has not named specific additional programs or formats as part of the year-round collaboration.
The change does not affect the 2026 ceremony. The Academy’s 2026 viewing page lists NBC for the live 78th Primetime Emmy Awards and Peacock for streaming. The switch to Prime Video starts the following year.

Why the Academy is changing partners
Television Academy chair Cris Abrego told The Associated Press that continuity was a goal because the rotating arrangement meant “we were starting over every year.” The six-year agreement provides a longer-term partner, but the Academy has not published a viewership forecast or evidence that the move will increase the audience.
