Google’s December 2024 Pixel Drop began rolling out on December 5, 2024. It added features across Gemini, Call Screen, Pixel Screenshots, accessibility, security, Pixel Tablet and Pixel Watch/Fitbit—but eligibility depended on the device, language, region and, in some cases, subscription. This guide reflects Google’s announcement at the time; it does not establish which features remain available or have since expanded.
What changed in the December 2024 Pixel Drop?
Google grouped the December update around smarter assistance, call screening, photo and screenshot tools, accessibility and security. Some features were limited to newer Pixel models, while others applied to older phones or separate devices such as Pixel Tablet and Pixel Watch. Google announced the Drop on December 5, 2024, and said rollout began that day. Google’s Pixel Drop announcement includes the feature footnotes and availability qualifications.
Gemini gained Saved Info and more device actions
Saved Info in Gemini Advanced
Gemini Advanced gained Saved Info, which could remember details such as a user’s interests and preferences to tailor later responses. Google said users could view, edit or delete the information they had shared. At announcement, the feature was available globally in English to Gemini Advanced subscribers through Google One AI Premium; that qualification does not mean every Gemini user received it.
Actions on Android
Google also described Gemini on Android calling contacts or businesses, drafting and sending messages with default apps, setting alarms, changing device settings and opening the camera. Spotify, smart-home and Maps extensions were also mentioned. Availability varied by feature, language and region, so the announcement should not be read as a promise that every action or extension worked everywhere.

Call Screen added suggested replies and a live view
On eligible phones, Gemini Nano could suggest contextual, tappable replies to unknown callers. Users could also see a live transcript while automatic screening was in progress and answer or decline without stopping the screening process.
- Gemini Nano suggested replies: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, in English in the US.
- Automatic screening view: Pixel 4 and newer Pixel phones, in English in the US.
These were separate eligibility notes: the broader device range for the screening view did not make Gemini Nano replies available on those older phones.

Pixel 9 got screenshot, camera-sharing and keyboard additions
Pixel Screenshots tools
Google announced automatic screenshot categorization, search filters, suggested actions, Wallet integration and screenshot suggestions in Gboard for the Pixel 9 series in English. These tools were intended to make saved screenshots easier to organize, find and use. Google later published eight tips for Pixel Screenshots, on December 19, 2024.
Other Pixel 9 additions
- Pixel 9 models could share Ultra HDR photos to Instagram.
- Pixel Studio stickers became available in Gboard on Pixel 9 models in English.
Google also promoted a Joy from Inside Out animation in Made You Look on Pixel 9 Pro Fold, but that offer was explicitly time-limited through December 3, 2025; it is not a current offer.
Simple View and Identity Check addressed usability and security
Simple View
Simple View increases font size and touch sensitivity to make a Pixel easier to use. Google listed it for Pixel 6 and newer.
Identity Check
Identity Check was described as a beta feature. In a new location, it required face or fingerprint authentication for sensitive settings. Google said a production release was still forthcoming when it announced the feature, so the announcement alone does not confirm its later status.

Pixel Tablet and watches received separate updates
Pixel Tablet
The tablet update added lock-screen widgets and Google’s built-in VPN. Smart-home widgets depended on compatible devices, and VPN availability was subject to Google’s restrictions; these were tablet features, not phone-wide additions.
Pixel Watch and Fitbit
Cardio Load and Target Load began expanding from Pixel Watch 3 to supported Pixel Watches and Fitbit devices starting December 9, 2024. The announcement does not mean every watch or Fitbit model was eligible.

Some Android additions were not Pixel-exclusive
Google announced other Android features on the same date: Expressive Captions, Gemini-enhanced image descriptions in Lookout, QR-code sharing in Quick Share and clearer Google Drive scans. These were presented as Android additions, not as features exclusive to Pixel phones. See Google’s December 2024 Android announcement.
How to interpret eligibility
The December 2024 announcement is a dated record of what Google said was rolling out then, not a current compatibility list. For any specific feature, check the footnote against the relevant factors:
- Pixel generation or whether the feature is for a tablet, watch or Fitbit device.
- Language and country or region.
- Required subscription or account, such as Google One AI Premium for Gemini Advanced Saved Info.
- Whether Google described it as rolling out, beta, or time-limited.
Google’s announcement does not establish which December 2024 features remain available, have changed, or have expanded by September 2026.
