The biggest difference is not a documented graphics advantage—it is where you can play. The Switch 2 edition of The Crew Motorfest supports TV, tabletop, and handheld modes, with Ubisoft specifying 1080p at 30 frames per second in both TV and handheld modes. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S editions remain the conventional console choices, but the available official material does not provide equivalent measured resolution or frame-rate figures for a fair three-way performance verdict.
Switch 2 buyers also need to plan around an always-online requirement, a Ubisoft Account, and a separation between transferable progression and non-transferable store purchases. Your linked save can move across supported platforms, while paid content bought on another platform’s store does not automatically move to Switch 2.

What actually changes between the three versions?
For most buyers, the decision comes down to three questions: do you need portability, what performance target are you comfortable with, and are you moving an existing account or paid content? The documented differences are practical rather than a complete technical ranking.

Switch 2 modes: the feature PS5 and Xbox cannot match in this comparison
TV mode
The Switch 2 version is designed to run on a television at Ubisoft’s stated target of 1080p and 30 FPS. That is a specification from Ubisoft’s official Switch 2 FAQ, not an independent benchmark measured under a particular race, weather effect, or update version.

Handheld mode
Handheld play is the most meaningful reason to choose Switch 2. Ubisoft gives the same 1080p/30 FPS target for handheld mode as for TV mode. The statement describes the target for the version; it does not establish that every scene always holds 30 FPS or that image quality is identical to a console edition.
Tabletop mode
Nintendo lists tabletop mode as another supported way to play. This can suit a shared room, a temporary setup, or a player who wants a screen nearby without using a television. The game still requires the Switch 2’s online and account conditions described below.
Controller options
Ubisoft lists the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller among supported peripherals. It is an optional control choice, not a documented requirement for the game. The console’s built-in controls remain relevant for handheld play.
Does The Crew Motorfest run at 60 FPS on Switch 2?
The official specification supplied for Switch 2 is 1080p at 30 FPS in both TV and handheld modes. Nothing in that specification confirms a 60 FPS mode, and it should not be presented as an independently tested result.
That also means the available material cannot establish whether PS5 or Xbox Series X|S delivers a higher frame rate, a higher resolution, or a steadier frame-time profile. Those platforms may have different technical behavior, but claiming a winner would require platform-specific official specifications or credible measured testing that is not documented here.
If a 60 FPS mode is decisive for you, check the current edition notes or in-game display options on the console you intend to use rather than inferring the answer from the Switch 2 specification. The safe, sourced expectation for Switch 2 is 30 FPS.
Online requirements and account setup on Switch 2
Persistent internet is required
Ubisoft says the Switch 2 edition requires a persistent internet connection. This is more restrictive than a game that merely checks online features when you enter multiplayer. Plan for the game to need an active connection during normal use, including when you are playing alone.

Nintendo Switch Online and regional conditions
Nintendo’s store listing identifies online play and lists one to 32 online players. The listing also points to Nintendo Switch Online for online play. Subscription rules can vary by region and by the feature being used, so verify the requirement shown in your regional Nintendo store before purchase. The persistent-internet and Ubisoft Account requirements are separate from any Nintendo subscription requirement.
What to check before your first race
- Confirm that the Switch 2 has a reliable internet connection in the place where you expect to play.
- Sign in to the Ubisoft Account that contains the progression you want to use, or create one if you are new to the game.
- Use the same Ubisoft Account when connecting any other supported platform. Cross-save depends on the accounts being linked correctly.
- Check your regional Nintendo store listing for the current Nintendo Switch Online condition for online play.
The exact account screens can change with software updates, so follow the account-linking prompts shown by the game and Ubisoft rather than relying on an old screenshot or an account associated with a different profile.
How cross-progression and cross-save work
Progress can move when accounts are linked
Ubisoft documents cross-progression and cross-save across supported platforms. In practical terms, your game progress can be available when you move between Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and other supported versions, provided the platforms are connected to the same Ubisoft Account and the specific content is supported.

A linked save does not turn every purchase into a universal license. Ubisoft explicitly says purchases made through Xbox, PlayStation, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store, and Steam do not transfer to Switch 2. This is the central ownership warning for anyone changing platforms.
For example, you might continue a career or other saved progression on Switch 2 while discovering that an add-on bought through a different store is not available there. The save and the entitlement are separate records.
A safe migration checklist
- Write down which Ubisoft Account is currently connected to your PS5 or Xbox profile.
- Use that same Ubisoft Account when starting the Switch 2 edition.
- Allow the game to complete its online account and save synchronization before changing devices.
- After the first Switch 2 launch, confirm that your expected progression appears before unlinking or changing any account.
- List every paid add-on you own and identify the store where each was purchased.
- Assume an add-on purchased outside the Switch 2 store needs separate verification; do not treat its appearance in your old save as proof that its license transferred.
If progression is missing, stop before creating substantial new progress on a different account. Check the Ubisoft Account association first, because starting over under the wrong identity can make troubleshooting more confusing.
Do DLC and other purchases transfer to Switch 2?
No automatic transfer should be expected for purchases made in another platform’s store. Ubisoft names Xbox, PlayStation, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store, and Steam specifically as stores whose purchases do not transfer to Switch 2.
This applies to the purchase entitlement, not necessarily to every piece of progress recorded in a save. A linked account may preserve progression while leaving a paid vehicle, expansion, cosmetic item, or other store-specific entitlement unavailable on the new platform.

How to avoid an unpleasant surprise
- Separate “my save is present” from “my paid content is owned on this platform.”
- Before buying the Switch 2 version, identify which editions and add-ons you actually use on your current platform.
- Read the Switch 2 store page and the item’s current platform-availability statement for each add-on you care about.
- Keep purchase receipts or order history from the original store; they help establish where an entitlement was bought, even though they do not make it transferable.
Because store policies and content packages can change, verify the specific add-on rather than assuming that a season, bundle, or deluxe item follows the save.
Current content and Season 11
Release and platform availability
Nintendo lists October 8, 2026 as the Switch 2 release date, and Ubisoft’s launch material gives the same date for the Switch 2 version. Ubisoft’s October 8, 2026 Season 11 article says the season began October 7 and that the update is available across platforms, including Switch 2.
Kauai Expeditions
Season 11 adds the free Kauai Expeditions playlist. Ubisoft describes eight main events, 40 animals to photograph, and Road Discovery. These are examples of current seasonal content available in the cross-platform update, not evidence that every paid entitlement transfers between stores.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

The same season announcement describes a premium Tomb Raider: Secrets of Ni’ihau DLC pack developed in partnership with Crystal Dynamics. Its premium status makes the purchase-transfer distinction especially important: season availability across platforms does not by itself prove that an entitlement bought on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC is unlocked on Switch 2.
Storage, player count and game scale
Download size
Nintendo lists a 58.5 GB game file size, accessed October 13, 2026. Treat that as the store’s listed size at that time, not a permanent installation guarantee. Updates and seasonal content can change the space required, so leave additional storage beyond the listed figure.
Online player range
Nintendo lists one to 32 online players. The lower end matters because the game is not listed as multiplayer-only; the listing recognizes a one-player configuration. The upper end describes the store’s stated online-player range, not a promise that every activity places 32 people in the same event or race.
Vehicle selection
The Nintendo store description published by Ubisoft advertises more than 700 vehicles. That figure describes the scale of the vehicle roster in the store copy; it does not indicate that all vehicles are included in one purchase, available immediately, or transferable from another platform’s store.

Choose Switch 2 if portability is your priority
Switch 2 is the only option in this comparison with officially listed TV, tabletop, and handheld modes. It is the logical fit if you want to move between a television and handheld play without changing the game platform. Accept the documented 1080p/30 FPS target and the persistent-online requirement as part of that choice.

Choose PS5 or Xbox Series X|S if you already play there
Staying on your existing console avoids a platform move and the possibility that store-bought add-ons will not be available on Switch 2. Your progression may still be usable elsewhere through cross-progression when the same Ubisoft Account is linked, but retaining the original platform keeps its purchases in their original store ecosystem.
Do not choose based on an unsupported performance claim
The available official information does not provide a matching resolution-and-frame-rate table for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2. If image quality, frame pacing, or loading speed is your deciding factor, look for a current, controlled comparison that measures all three versions. The documented Switch 2 specification alone cannot answer that question.
Common mistakes and how to prevent them
Assuming handheld means offline
Handheld mode describes the screen and control arrangement, not an offline license. Switch 2 still requires a persistent internet connection and a Ubisoft Account.
Assuming cross-save means cross-buy
Progress can carry while purchases do not. Check every paid item separately, especially content bought through a console or PC store.
Using different Ubisoft Accounts
Cross-progression depends on the same linked Ubisoft Account. If the Switch 2 profile is connected to a different account, the expected save may not appear.
Treating 1080p/30 FPS as an independent test
Ubisoft’s wording is a stated specification. It is not a lab measurement, and it does not describe the performance of PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.
Reading the file size as a fixed number
The 58.5 GB listing was accessed October 13, 2026. Updates can change the installation footprint, so plan storage with headroom.

Bottom line for a platform switch
Switch 2 changes The Crew Motorfest most by making the game portable: Nintendo lists TV, tabletop, and handheld play, while Ubisoft specifies 1080p and 30 FPS in both TV and handheld modes. The trade-offs are an explicit persistent-internet and Ubisoft Account requirement, plus the need to repurchase or separately verify paid content bought through another store. Cross-progression can preserve your linked progress, but it does not create cross-buy rights.
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S remain valid choices, especially if your purchases and existing play are already tied to those platforms. On the evidence available here, there is no responsible way to declare either console a technical winner over the other or over Switch 2 without comparable measurements.
