There is no single mandatory first car or universal upgrade route: choose a Playlist that matches the driving you enjoy, improve vehicles with Perf Parts as they arrive, and check each event’s vehicle requirements before spending resources.
Start with the introduction, then activate a Playlist
The opening sequence is more than a tutorial race. It establishes the festival setting, introduces the driving disciplines, and unlocks the activities that make the island feel like an open game rather than a linear campaign. Complete the introduction first, then visit a Playlist location and activate one campaign.

- Finish the introduction. Follow the opening events until the game releases you into its broader activity structure.
- Visit a Playlist location. A Playlist is a short, themed campaign built from events, challenges, and rewards.
- Activate the Playlist before inviting friends. This matters for co-op progression: a crew member who has not activated a Playlist at its in-game location may complete races without saving that Playlist’s progress.
- Play several events before switching campaigns. This gives you a feel for the handling, event objectives, and reward loop without committing you to one permanent route.
Ubisoft describes Playlist themes covering vintage cars, electric supercars, motorsports, street racing, and off-road activity. The first choice is therefore a preference decision, not a power-ranking decision. If you like tight urban routes, start with a street-focused theme; if you prefer long slides or uneven terrain, choose a drift or off-road direction. Your choice does not lock the rest of the game.
How Playlists organize progression
What a Playlist contains
Each Playlist packages a particular car culture, era, or discipline into a sequence of events and challenges. Completing activities can award vehicles, currency, experience, and Perf Parts, while the campaign structure gives you a clear next objective when the open world feels too broad.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Ubisoft’s October 7, 2026 Switch 2 overview described more than 30 themed Playlists across activities such as street racing, off-road driving, drifting, and motorsports. That count is a dated snapshot; seasonal updates can add or change content.
How to choose your first theme
| If you prefer… | Look for a Playlist centered on… | Why it works for a beginner |
|---|---|---|
| Classic styling and historic machines | Vintage or era-focused cars | The theme keeps the early vehicle choices coherent while you learn event objectives. |
| Quiet, instant acceleration | Electric supercars | You can focus on braking, corner entry, and racing lines rather than learning a large collection at once. |
| Track-style competition | Motorsports | Structured circuits make it easier to compare your own driving from one attempt to the next. |
| Urban sprints and traffic management | Street racing | Shorter, busier routes provide quick practice sessions. |
| Loose surfaces and jumps | Off-road | You learn how surface changes affect braking and steering before exploring farther from the cities. |
The table is a starting point, not a recommended order. You can leave a Playlist, try another, and return later without losing the broader progression structure.
The event loop
A useful rhythm is to run one event, inspect the reward screen, equip any suitable Perf Part, and then attempt the next event. Challenges may ask for a particular maneuver, vehicle type, or objective rather than simply a win. Read the event card before launching; a fast car is not helpful if the activity imposes a different vehicle constraint.
Cars, vehicle constraints, and Perf Parts
Do not search for one “best” car
Motorfest covers multiple disciplines, so a vehicle that feels excellent on a paved sprint may be a poor fit for a dirt route or a challenge that requires a specific category. The game’s Playlist structure deliberately moves you between themes. Treat your garage as a growing toolkit instead of trying to force one car into every event.
- Check the required or permitted vehicle category before starting.
- Keep at least one usable option for each discipline you have begun playing.
- Use the event preview to identify whether a reward is tied to a particular vehicle type.
- Test handling in a low-stakes event before investing heavily in a newly acquired car.
What Perf Parts do
Ubisoft support describes Perf Parts as vehicle upgrades that improve statistics. They are part of the normal reward and improvement loop: play activities, receive parts, and install the pieces that address the behavior you want from that vehicle.

A practical upgrade routine
- Collect first. Do not spend every resource immediately after the first event. Let a few rewards accumulate so you can compare the available pieces.
- Match the part to the event. A part that raises a statistic useful on a technical circuit may not be the most useful choice for a long off-road route.
- Upgrade the car you actually drive. Early on, concentrate improvements on the vehicle used by your active Playlist rather than spreading every part across an unused collection piece.
- Recheck the event objective. If an event emphasizes a discipline-specific maneuver or has a vehicle restriction, confirm that the upgraded car still qualifies.
- Keep older parts until you understand your garage. A part that is not ideal for one car may remain useful on another vehicle in the same discipline.
No universal “fastest reward route” or one upgrade setup is established here. Your results depend on the vehicle, event rules, driving style, and the parts you have earned.
What unlocks after the opening
After you complete the introduction and unlock at least one Playlist, the game opens several parallel ways to spend time. Ubisoft support lists the additional game modes as becoming available at that point.

Use Freedrive as a learning tool
Freedrive is not only sightseeing. Use it to memorize junctions, identify surface changes, and practice braking without the pressure of a leaderboard. When a Playlist sends you back through a familiar district, that route knowledge can matter as much as another upgrade.
Try community tracks after you understand the basics
TrackForge is most useful once you know how your chosen discipline handles. Community routes can be unusual or demanding, so learn the game’s ordinary event objectives first. When a custom track behaves unexpectedly, read its restrictions and restart with a vehicle that matches them rather than assuming your car is underpowered.
Co-op progression and reward rules
Co-op is straightforward only if every crew member prepares correctly. In co-op Playlist races, the Crew leader receives the race rewards. Crew members can still retain several types of progress, but their Playlist activation status determines whether that progress is saved.

Before starting a co-op session
- Have each player visit and activate the Playlist they intend to progress.
- Confirm who is the Crew leader and understand that the leader receives the race rewards.
- Use an eligible owned vehicle when earning Perf Parts matters; a loaned vehicle will not generate those parts for a crew member.
- After the race, check the Playlist map and reward screens rather than assuming every player received identical progress.
Season 11: a current example of branching content
Season 11 began on October 7, 2026. Ubisoft presents Kauai as a new off-road exploration playground and includes a free Kauai Expedition Playlist. The update also adds a Winch feature for select vehicles, a new exploration layer, and wildlife photography.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed

The wildlife activity asks you to find more than 40 species, a figure Ubisoft gives specifically for this Season 11 exploration update. It should not be read as a permanent total for the entire game; future seasons can change the available content.
The Tomb Raider: Secrets of Niʻihau experience is separate from the free Kauai Expedition Playlist and requires its DLC pack. Check the edition or add-on description in your region before assuming that experience is included.
How to approach the Kauai content
- Use the free Expedition Playlist as the structured introduction to the island’s off-road focus.
- Try the Winch only with vehicles that support the feature; it is not a universal ability for every car.
- Switch to exploration when you want to photograph wildlife or learn the new routes without a race objective.
- Confirm DLC ownership before looking for the Tomb Raider experience in-game.
Nintendo Switch 2: buying and online requirements
The Nintendo Switch 2 edition has requirements that affect both purchase and play. Ubisoft describes it as a Game-Key Card: the card authorizes the download, but the game itself must be downloaded. A persistent internet connection is required to play, and a Ubisoft Account is required.
| Switch 2 consideration | What it means |
|---|---|
| Game-Key Card | You need to download the game after inserting the card; the card is not a complete offline installation. |
| Persistent internet connection | An internet connection is required to play the game on this edition. |
| Ubisoft Account | You must use or create an account to access the game. |
| Multiplayer | Online multiplayer features require Nintendo Switch Online. |
| Cross-progression | Progress can carry across supported platforms, subject to Ubisoft’s account and platform rules. |
| Store purchases | Purchases made through another platform’s store do not transfer to Switch 2. |
| Cross-play | The Switch 2 version does not offer full cross-play, although Ubisoft lists several shared activities and leaderboards. |
That distinction is important: cross-progression concerns saved progress, while cross-store transfer concerns purchases, and cross-play concerns who can participate in the same activity. They are separate features.

Before buying a Switch 2 edition
- Confirm that you have reliable internet for the download and ongoing play.
- Check that you can use a Ubisoft Account on the console.
- Add Nintendo Switch Online if you plan to use multiplayer features.
- Review the current regional listing for edition contents and add-ons.
- If you already play elsewhere, verify which progress is supported across platforms and do not assume another platform’s store purchases will appear on Switch 2.
A progression plan that avoids wasted time
For a focused solo player
- Complete the introduction.
- Activate one Playlist that matches your preferred discipline.
- Finish enough events to earn a small pool of Perf Parts and understand the Playlist’s challenge types.
- Upgrade the vehicle you are actually using.
- Use Freedrive to learn the surrounding routes.
- Return to the Playlist or start a second theme when you want a different driving style.
For a collector
- Sample several Playlists rather than repeating one event exclusively.
- Record which vehicle categories each Playlist and challenge uses.
- Keep a practical car for each discipline before spending heavily on cosmetic or niche additions.
- Use the collection and customization systems between events so you know what is available when a restriction appears.
For a competitive player
- Use structured Playlist events to learn a discipline and tune your driving habits.
- Compare your own runs on similar routes before changing several upgrades at once.
- Move into competitive multiplayer only after checking the required vehicle category and online access.
- Use Mainstage tracks as an additional objective layer, checking the current season’s conditions rather than relying on an older guide.
For a social group
- Agree on a Playlist before forming the crew.
- Have every member activate it at its location.
- Choose the leader deliberately, because the leader receives the race rewards.
- Use owned vehicles when crew members want Perf Parts; loaned vehicles do not provide those parts to a crew member.
Common beginner problems and fixes
“I completed a co-op race but my Playlist did not advance.”
Visit the Playlist location and activate it before replaying the activity. Co-op members save Playlist progression only after doing this.
“My friend received a reward and I did not.”
Check who was the Crew leader. In co-op Playlist races, the leader receives the race rewards. Currency, XP, XP bonus, and Perf Parts can still be retained by crew members under the stated rules, but the reward presentation is not identical for every role.
“The car I upgraded cannot enter the next event.”
Read the event’s vehicle restriction. A stronger statistic does not override a category requirement. Switch to an eligible vehicle and reserve the upgraded car for the activity it suits.
“I expected my purchase from another platform to appear on Switch 2.”
Cross-progression does not transfer purchases made through another platform’s store to Switch 2. Verify the edition and add-on listing for the platform where you intend to use the content.
“I cannot find full cross-play on Switch 2.”
Full cross-play is not supported on the Switch 2 version. Ubisoft does list some shared activities and leaderboards, so check the current support information for the specific mode rather than assuming all activities work across platforms.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
“The game will not start after I bought the Game-Key Card.”
The Switch 2 edition requires a download and a persistent internet connection. Insert the card, complete the download, sign in to a Ubisoft Account, and confirm that the console is online.
“A guide says an add-on is included, but I cannot access it.”
Edition contents and regional availability can differ. Recheck the current retailer description and Ubisoft support information. In the Season 11 example, the Tomb Raider: Secrets of Niʻihau experience requires its DLC pack, while the Kauai Expedition Playlist is free.
A first-session checklist
- Complete the introduction.
- Visit and activate one Playlist.
- Read each event’s vehicle and challenge requirements before launching.
- Keep the first useful Perf Parts for the car you are driving most.
- Try a short Freedrive session to learn nearby roads and surfaces.
- Explore another Playlist when you want a new discipline rather than grinding one event.
- Unlock and sample TrackForge or multiplayer after the opening requirements are met.
- For co-op, have every player activate the Playlist and agree on the Crew leader.
- On Switch 2, plan for the download, persistent internet, Ubisoft Account, and Nintendo Switch Online for multiplayer.
- Check current season and edition information before assuming that a mode, reward, or DLC experience is included.
The best way to think about Motorfest progression
Motorfest is easiest to understand as several connected loops rather than a single campaign ladder. Playlists provide direction, events and challenges provide rewards, Perf Parts improve the vehicles you use, Freedrive teaches the map, and multiplayer or TrackForge supplies variety after the introduction. Seasonal content then adds new places and activities, as Season 11 does with Kauai, the Expedition Playlist, Winch-enabled vehicles, and wildlife photography.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesStart with the driving style that interests you, keep your garage broad enough to meet event restrictions, and treat platform features as specific promises rather than interchangeable labels. That approach lets you progress efficiently without pretending that one car, one Playlist, or one platform route is right for every beginner.
