Yes. The Case of the Golden Idol is 50% off on Android and iPhone/iPad through October 23, 2026, and it has joined the Google Play Pass catalog. The promotion, reported by Pocket Gamer on October 15, marks four years since the game launched. Play Pass access and pricing can vary by country, so check the catalog and your local store before paying.
What the mobile promotion includes
The discount applies to the mobile release of The Case of the Golden Idol, a historical mystery and deduction puzzle. You examine crime scenes, inspect objects and people, and fill in missing details to determine what happened. Its linked cases follow a cursed artefact and crimes unfolding across decades, with a structure that will feel familiar to players who enjoyed Return of the Obra Dinn.

The 50% offer is temporary: the announced end date is October 23, 2026. The announcement does not establish one universal sale price for every country, and mobile storefronts can display different regional prices, taxes or currencies.
Can you play it with Google Play Pass?
Google Play Pass now includes the game, according to the October 15, 2026 announcement. Subscribers can play it through the Play Pass catalog rather than buying the standalone unlock, subject to the catalog remaining available in their region and to the terms of their subscription.

Because Play Pass catalogs are country-specific and can change, open Google Play, search for the game and look for the Play Pass indicator on the listing. If that indicator is absent, the regular Android purchase option is the applicable route.
What you get without a subscription
Both Android and iOS provide introductory content before asking for the one-time unlock. The publisher says the first two cases are free; the Apple App Store listing also describes a free download. After those cases, one purchase unlocks the complete mobile package.

How large is the full mobile package?
The Apple listing specifies 12 scenarios and six bonus cases in the unlocked package. The bonus content includes The Spider of Lanka and The Lemurian Vampire. Once unlocked, the listing says there are no advertisements or additional in-app purchases.
Playstack’s publisher news post describes the same model: play the first two cases free, then make a single purchase to unlock the remaining game and both downloadable expansions. That means the introductory cases are a way to sample the investigation system, not a separate free edition of the full campaign.

How much does the complete game cost?
Playstack lists a US reference price of $6.99 for the one-time mobile unlock before the temporary promotion. The Apple listing shows the same US price. The sale is advertised as 50% off, but the evidence does not establish a single discounted dollar amount for all storefronts; your store’s displayed price is the authoritative figure for your account and region.
- During the promotion: look for the reduced price through October 23, 2026.
- After the promotion: the stated US reference price is $6.99, unless the publisher or store changes it.
- Subscription alternative: Play Pass may avoid a separate purchase while the title remains in your local catalog.
Android versus iPhone and iPad
The standalone game is distributed through both Google Play and the Apple App Store. The core offer is equivalent on the evidence available: two introductory cases, followed by a one-time unlock covering the remaining scenarios and both DLCs. Regional pricing parity is not established, so do not assume that a converted currency or one platform’s sale price will match the other.

- If buying separately, install the free version, finish the two introductory cases, and use the in-app one-time unlock for the remaining content.
Buying on iPhone or iPad
- Open the Apple App Store and find the game listing.
- Download the free version and confirm the displayed local unlock price.
- Use the single purchase to unlock all 12 scenarios and six bonus cases.
Is it still on Netflix?
No. Playstack support says the Netflix versions were removed as part of a broader content shift. The game is now available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. A May 11, 2026 support update also distinguished this title from The Rise of the Golden Idol, which was still being brought to mobile at that time; the announcement here concerns the original Case of the Golden Idol.

Quick Recap
Which option makes sense?
- Choose Play Pass if you already subscribe and the game appears in your local catalog; there is no separate game purchase while your subscription and catalog access remain active.
- Choose the one-time unlock if you want permanent access through the mobile store without relying on a subscription, or if Play Pass is unavailable in your country.
- Try the free cases first if you are unsure about the deduction format. They show the investigation loop before you commit to the complete package.
