If you want an e-reader with a phone-like shape that may fit a pocket, the BOOX Palma is a plausible option: BOOX lists its body at 159 × 80 × 8.0 mm. That does not establish it as the smallest e-reader available, and whether it fits comfortably depends on your pocket, any case, and how much screen you want for reading.
What “smallest e-reader” can mean
There is no single useful answer without defining the comparison. You might mean the smallest model from a particular brand, the smallest widely available dedicated e-reader, or a device that fits a specific pocket. The available product information identifies the Palma as compact, but does not establish that it is the smallest device in any of those broader categories.

BOOX lists the Palma’s dimensions as 159 × 80 × 8.0 mm (6.3 × 3.1 × 0.31 inches) on its official product page. Its phone-shaped footprint makes it a reasonable candidate for pocket carry, but dimensions alone cannot tell you how it will feel in your clothing or with a protective case.

What the Palma offers—and what its app support means
The Palma supports third-party apps from Google Play, and BOOX specifically names Kindle among the examples. That gives readers a way to access a familiar reading app on the device; it does not establish that every app behaves or feels exactly as it would on a dedicated Kindle reader.

For context, a secondary comparison table lists the 2024 Kindle as a 6-inch, 300-ppi device weighing 158 g, without warm light. Those figures are a comparison point, not a controlled carry or reading-comfort test; check the manufacturer’s current specifications before relying on them. See The eBook Reader Reviews comparison table.
Two practical trade-offs to check before choosing
A compact body does not guarantee a comfortable pocket fit
Measure the pocket you intend to use and compare it with the device’s listed footprint. Allow for a case if you plan to use one. A reader that fits in a roomy jacket pocket may be awkward in a smaller trouser pocket, so “pocket-sized” is not a universal fit guarantee.

This is a characteristic of all e-ink products, not a defect. If it doesn't meet your expectations, you may return the product under our return policy. App flexibility is not the same as a dedicated-reader experience
Palma’s listed Google Play support, including Kindle, is useful if access to third-party reading apps matters to you. But app availability alone does not establish identical reading features or comfort across devices. Decide based on the app and reading experience you actually want, rather than treating compatibility as proof of equivalence.
How it fits among other e-readers
TechRadar’s 2026 roundup describes the Palma 2 as phone-sized and pocketable, while also recommending conventional readers such as the Kindle Paperwhite and Kobo Clara BW. That is a broad recommendation list, not an apples-to-apples pocket-fit test or proof that one model is the smallest. See TechRadar’s e-reader roundup.

If your priority is a phone-like shape and access to third-party apps, the Palma is worth considering. If your priority is identifying the absolute smallest widely available dedicated reader, the information here is not enough to name a definitive winner. Compare the actual dimensions, screen size, lighting options, preferred bookstore or apps, and case footprint for the models you are considering.
