For a new, unlocked phone clearly below $350, the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G is the strongest value pick in the options covered here: its listed price is $249.99, and it offers expandable storage. Choose the Motorola Moto G Power (2026) instead if a larger, high-refresh display and tougher water-and-dust protection matter more than smooth performance or long software support. Prices below were checked against the cited US listings and review guides; confirm the current price, unlocked status, and carrier compatibility before buying.
Best phones under $350 at a glance
| Phone | Price and status | Best fit | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung Galaxy A17 5G, unlocked 128GB | $249.99 on Samsung US’s current product listing | Value, expandable storage, and a Super AMOLED screen | Charger is not included; verify the current support policy for your region |
| Motorola Moto G Power (2026) | $299.99 MSRP, as listed in Android Authority’s 2026 guide | Large 120Hz screen, durability, and a headphone jack | Reviewers describe performance as serviceable rather than especially smooth, with only two Android updates |
| Motorola Moto G (2026) | $249.99 sale price, reduced from $299.99 on Motorola US’s listing when checked | A lower-price alternative to investigate | It is a different phone from the Moto G Power; the price is a sale listing and should be rechecked |
These are recommendations from the strongest sourced candidates in this guide, not the result of a controlled comparison of every phone sold in the US. A listed price can change, and the Moto G (2026) has also been described as below $200 by Tom’s Guide, illustrating how quickly live offers can diverge from review coverage.

Why the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G is the value pick
Samsung lists the unlocked 128GB Galaxy A17 5G at $249.99. Its official specifications include a 5,000mAh battery, a rear camera array of 50MP, 5MP, and 2MP cameras, and storage expansion up to 2TB. The A17 is a sensible choice if you want a lower upfront price and the option to add a microSD card rather than pay for more built-in storage. Samsung’s US product listing is the place to confirm current availability and specifications.

A reviewed Samsung guide describes the A17’s display as a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel and reports up to six years of OS and security updates. Samsung’s current US pages consulted for this guide do not independently confirm that support duration, so treat it as a reported policy rather than a verified promise for every region or variant. Check Samsung’s current terms for the exact US model before making update longevity a deciding factor.

Budget for a charger if needed
Samsung says a charger is not included. If you do not already own a compatible USB-C charger, account for that extra setup cost; if you do, there is no reason to buy another just for the phone.
When the Motorola Moto G Power (2026) makes more sense
Android Authority lists the Moto G Power (2026) at a $299.99 MSRP. Its review describes a 6.8-inch Full HD LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 5,200mAh battery, IP68/IP69 resistance, expandable storage, a headphone jack, and a genuine ultrawide camera. Those features make it worth considering for someone who prioritizes a big, fluid screen, practical durability, or wired headphones over a more polished performance experience. Android Authority’s review covers the model and its trade-offs.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with Verizon, Spectrum, AT&T, Total Wireless, other CDMA carriers, it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.

The same review describes day-to-day performance as serviceable rather than especially smooth, points to an outdated chipset, and reports a commitment to two Android updates. That short support commitment matters if you keep phones for many years or place security updates above hardware features. Ryan Haines of Android Authority summed up the trade-off this way: “The Moto G Power (2026) isn’t the most exciting phone at $300, but it might be the most practical.”
Do not confuse the Moto G (2026) with the Moto G Power
Motorola’s US listing shows the unlocked Moto G (2026) at $249.99, discounted from $299.99. That is not the Moto G Power (2026), whose cited MSRP is $299.99. Tom’s Guide describes the Moto G (2026) as an unlocked phone below $200 and reports more than 19 hours in its own battery test, while noting its display is dim; that battery figure is a review test result, not a guarantee of anyone’s runtime. Since the Motorola listing and review describe different price points, check the live listing, exact model name, storage, and unlocked status before comparing deals. Tom’s Guide’s Moto G (2026) review addresses that separate model.

How to choose between them
- Check the real purchase cost. Compare the current price, sales tax, and any charger you need, rather than relying on a past sale or MSRP.
- Confirm it is unlocked and works with your carrier. Verify the specific model’s compatibility with your carrier before ordering; “unlocked” alone does not guarantee support for every network feature or band.
- Decide what matters most day to day. The A17 pairs a reported Super AMOLED display with a lower listed price; the Moto G Power offers a larger 120Hz LCD and rated resistance, with the performance and support compromises noted above.
- Match storage to your habits. The A17 supports expansion up to 2TB, while Android Authority reports expandable storage for the Moto G Power. Confirm the exact configuration and card compatibility if expansion is central to your choice.
- Compare camera needs, not just megapixels. The A17’s listed rear cameras include a 50MP main camera plus 5MP and 2MP cameras; Android Authority identifies a genuine ultrawide on the Moto G Power. Those specifications do not establish which phone takes better photos, especially in low light.
What about the $350 boundary?
Samsung’s current Galaxy A-series page lists the 128GB Galaxy A27 5G at $349.99 before eligible trade-in. It is exactly at the stated price boundary, not clearly under $350; tax can also push the checkout total higher. Treat it as a boundary case only if you mean a pre-tax device price of $350 or less. The same page lists the A37 5G at $449.99, outside this budget. Samsung’s Galaxy A-series page has the current figures.
The Google Pixel 10a is listed at $499.99 in the consulted review coverage, so the available evidence does not support calling it a new phone under $350. It may be worth watching for a discount, but verify the price and whether a listing is new and unlocked before treating it as an alternative.

What to verify before you buy
- That the product page names the precise model, storage size, and unlocked SKU—not a carrier-locked version, refurbished unit, or different Moto G model.
- That your carrier supports the phone and the network features you rely on.
- The checkout price, including tax and any required charger, since manufacturer listings and sale prices can change.
- Current software-support terms for your exact phone and region, particularly if long-term updates are a priority.
- Whether your preferred retailer’s seller, condition, and price match the manufacturer or review-guide figures cited here; those figures are not Amazon prices.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
