Wiz and Orca Security are the closest Pluto Security alternatives for teams seeking agentless, context-driven protection across multiple clouds. Choose Prisma Cloud when enterprise CNAPP breadth, compliance controls and an existing Palo Alto Networks environment matter most. Choose FortiCNAPP when behavioral runtime detection is the priority, or Aqua Security when containers and Kubernetes are the center of your program.

There is an important category distinction: Pluto Security focuses on employee use of AI builders, developer tools and business workspaces. Most alternatives below primarily secure cloud infrastructure, identities, workloads and software supply chains. The right replacement depends on whether your highest-risk activity happens in an employee workspace or in the cloud environment that runs your applications.

Quick answer: which Pluto alternative fits your team?

Primary requirement Best-fit option Reason
Agentless, graph-based visibility across AWS, Azure and GCP Wiz Read-only cloud APIs feed a Security Graph that correlates identity, misconfiguration, vulnerability and network exposure into attack paths.
Broad visibility with minimal deployment work Orca Security SideScanning uses workload snapshots and APIs without installing agents, while the platform also offers runtime sensors and dynamic risk scoring.
Large-enterprise CNAPP, compliance and Palo Alto integration Prisma Cloud It covers a broad set of cloud-security controls and is designed for organizations that want an extensive enterprise platform.
Runtime anomaly detection FortiCNAPP Its documented emphasis is machine-learning behavioral analysis that establishes normal workload behavior and highlights deviations.
Container and Kubernetes depth Aqua Security Coverage runs from image scanning through runtime for containers, virtual machines, Kubernetes and serverless workloads.
Employee AI-tool and builder governance Pluto Security Its product is built around discovering workspace use, assessing contextual risk and enforcing real-time guardrails.

These are fit recommendations, not a claim that one platform is universally better. A cloud-security team should first identify whether it needs workspace governance, cloud-native application protection, or both.

What Pluto Security does—and why that changes the comparison

Pluto is centered on the AI-enabled workspace

Pluto positions itself as a workspace-security platform for the AI era. Its stated scope includes organization-wide use of AI builders, developer tools and business workspaces. The operating model combines discovery of what employees are using, contextual risk analysis and real-time guardrails or enforcement. The objective is to let employees build while giving security teams visibility and control.

#1 Best Overall
FortiGate-60F Network Security Appliance Plus 1 Year FortiGuard Unified Threat Protection (UTP) and FortiCare Premium (FG-60F-BDL-950-12)
  • HARDWARE PLUS SECURITY SERVICES: FortiGate-60F Firewall Appliance bundled with 1 year of FortiCare Premium and FortiGuard Unified Threat Protection.
  • UNIFIED THREAT PROTECTION (UTP): Secures against advanced online threats with comprehensive web filtering and anti-botnet technologies.
  • OPTIMIZED FOR MEDIUM-SIZED BUSINESSES: Tailored for businesses needing robust security without the infrastructure of larger enterprises.
  • RELIABLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT: FortiCare Premium ensures high-quality support and service continuity.
  • EFFECTIVE PROTECTION: Employs advanced filtering technologies to safeguard against sophisticated threats.

That is different from a conventional cloud-native application protection platform (CNAPP). A CNAPP normally starts with cloud accounts, identities, networks, data stores, virtual machines, containers, Kubernetes clusters and the software-delivery pipeline. It helps find misconfigurations, vulnerabilities, excessive permissions and runtime threats in infrastructure and workloads. It may detect the cloud resources created by an AI tool, but it is not automatically a control plane for the employee’s use of that tool.

Pluto also addresses AI and developer supply-chain risk

Pluto’s 2026 security research describes risks such as malicious Open VSX extensions and exposed Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. Those examples matter because an extension or MCP endpoint can become a path for code execution, credential exposure or unauthorized access during development. When evaluating an alternative, ask whether it can discover and govern the workspace behavior itself, or only assess the cloud resources that appear later.

What its public pricing tells buyers

The AWS Marketplace listing classifies Pluto as SaaS and shows a 12-month contract price of $1,000,000. The listing says pricing is contract-based, but it does not define the unit behind that amount—such as users, workspaces, accounts, data volume or an enterprise-wide license. Treat the figure as a published marketplace contract value, not a universal per-user or per-account rate. Confirm the counting unit, included support and renewal terms in a proposal.

Feature names, modules, packaging and partner terms change frequently. Validate the current edition and included capabilities during procurement rather than treating a platform label as a permanent specification.

Wiz: the closest fit for graph-based, multi-cloud prioritization

How it works

Wiz connects to cloud environments through read-only APIs and builds a Security Graph. The graph correlates identity risks, misconfigurations, vulnerabilities and network exposure, then shows how those conditions combine into attack paths. This is useful when a team has thousands of findings but needs to identify the few combinations that can lead to a reachable, high-impact compromise.

Why a cloud team may choose it over Pluto

Wiz is aimed at cloud infrastructure and application context rather than employee workspace control. It is therefore a logical alternative when the problem statement is “Which cloud attack paths should we fix first?” rather than “Which AI tools are employees using, and what data are they sending?” Its agentless, read-only connection can also reduce deployment friction for a small team or a business with many cloud accounts.

Where to test carefully

  • Confirm the exact AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform services covered by the edition you are buying.
  • Map the graph’s findings to your incident-response workflow, ticketing process and ownership model.
  • Ask which controls are preventive, which are detective and which require a separate sensor or integration.
  • Test whether the platform can identify the identity and network paths your architects consider realistic, not only generic severity scores.

Orca Security: broad agentless coverage for lean or multi-cloud teams

How SideScanning changes deployment

Orca’s SideScanning technology analyzes workload snapshots and cloud APIs without installing agents in each workload. That approach is designed to provide broad initial visibility while avoiding changes to application images or operating-system builds. Orca’s platform descriptions also include runtime sensors, so “agentless” should not be interpreted as “every runtime use case is covered without an optional component.”

Why it can suit a small security team

The combination of posture, workload and data protection, unified data modeling, dynamic risk scoring and attack-path analysis can reduce the number of consoles a lean team must operate. Snapshot-based collection is particularly attractive when teams cannot coordinate an agent rollout across many accounts, subscriptions or projects.

Questions to resolve in a proof of concept

  • How quickly do newly created resources appear in the inventory?
  • Which runtime detections need sensors, and what performance or operational overhead do they add?
  • Can data exposure findings be tied to an exploitable workload and an accountable owner?
  • How are ephemeral containers, managed services and serverless functions represented?

Is Wiz or Orca better for a small cloud-security team?

Neither is automatically better. Wiz is the cleaner fit when the team wants a graph-first view of attack paths through identities, vulnerabilities, configuration and network exposure. Orca is compelling when the team values snapshot-and-API discovery, unified posture/workload/data context and the option to add runtime sensors.

Use a short evaluation with the same cloud accounts and the same success criteria. Measure inventory completeness, time to first useful finding, quality of ownership mapping, attack-path explainability and the number of findings that become actionable tickets. Also record what must be deployed, who maintains it and what happens when a workload is short-lived. A platform that produces fewer but better-prioritized findings may be more useful than one that produces a larger inventory your team cannot triage.

Prisma Cloud: the broad enterprise CNAPP option

Why enterprises consider it

Prisma Cloud is presented as a comprehensive cloud-security platform. Its strongest case is usually organizational: a large enterprise wants broad control coverage, compliance depth and integration with an existing Palo Alto Networks security environment. It is less a one-for-one substitute for Pluto’s employee-workspace model than a replacement for a broad cloud-security program.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Interpreting its published scale claims

The product page states that Prisma Cloud analyzes 1 trillion events every 24 hours and that Precision AI detects 1.5 million new attacks each day. Those are vendor claims, not independent measurements. They indicate the scale the vendor says its platform is designed to process; they do not predict the alert quality, latency or coverage your environment will receive.

When it may be excessive

A small team with a narrowly defined problem may not need a comprehensive CNAPP. More modules can mean more configuration, policy tuning, procurement work and specialist knowledge. Ask for a capability-to-owner map and a phased rollout plan so you do not purchase breadth that will remain disabled.

FortiCNAPP: choose it when runtime behavior is central

The alternatives material identifies Lacework as integrated into Fortinet’s portfolio as FortiCNAPP. Its distinguishing approach is machine-learning behavioral analysis: the platform establishes a baseline for normal workload behavior and highlights deviations. That makes it relevant when the central question is whether a running workload has begun acting unusually, not merely whether its configuration violates a rule.

Branding and packaging have changed with the portfolio integration. Confirm the current product name, modules, sensor requirements, supported clouds and contract structure in writing. Compare detection fidelity against your own normal seasonal changes, batch jobs and deployment patterns; a useful behavioral system must distinguish an attack from legitimate operational variation.

Aqua Security: the specialist choice for containers and Kubernetes

Aqua covers the container and cloud-native lifecycle from image scanning through runtime. The described scope includes containers, virtual machines, Kubernetes and serverless workloads, along with CI/CD and developer tooling. This makes Aqua a strong candidate when Kubernetes admission, image provenance, vulnerable packages, registry hygiene and runtime container behavior are more urgent than broad employee AI-tool governance.

Before selecting it as a Pluto replacement, define the boundary of responsibility. Aqua can address risks in the images, clusters and workloads created by developers, but that is not the same as controlling which external AI builder an employee uses or what information they submit to it. If both problems matter, evaluate a workspace-control product alongside cloud-native controls rather than assuming one will cover the other.

Do you need a CNAPP if the main problem is employee AI-tool usage?

Not necessarily. If the primary risk is unsanctioned AI-tool adoption, sensitive data entered into a business workspace, risky extensions or exposed MCP endpoints, start by specifying discovery, data protection, contextual risk and real-time enforcement requirements. Those are the capabilities Pluto emphasizes.

A CNAPP becomes important when the same activity creates or changes cloud resources: exposed storage, over-privileged identities, vulnerable images, insecure network paths or compromised runtime workloads. In that situation, the workspace and cloud layers are connected but not interchangeable. A practical architecture may use workspace governance to control the action and a CNAPP to assess the resulting infrastructure.

Use this boundary test

  • If the event starts with an employee choosing an AI tool, ask how the product discovers the tool and enforces policy before data leaves the organization.
  • If the event starts with a cloud account, workload, identity or network path, ask how the product builds context and prioritizes remediation.
  • If both are common, require an evidence trail that links the user or tool, the data involved and the cloud resource affected.

Which alternative is strongest for AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform?

Wiz is explicitly described as covering AWS, Azure and GCP through read-only APIs, with a graph that spans the relationships among those environments. Orca is also positioned for multi-cloud coverage, using snapshots and APIs to provide broad visibility. They are the most direct candidates when the requirement is one context-driven view across the three major public clouds.

  • VPN server for secure communications. 10/100/1000Base-T

  • Refer instruction manual for troubleshooting steps.

Do not infer complete service parity from a multi-cloud label. During evaluation, list every account type, region, managed service, Kubernetes distribution, serverless platform and identity provider you use. Mark each as supported, supported with a sensor, supported through an integration or not supported. Recheck the list at contract time because cloud-service coverage and product packaging are volatile.

How to run a fair Pluto-alternative evaluation

  1. Define the problem in observable terms. Write separate requirements for employee AI-tool usage, cloud posture, identity risk, workload vulnerabilities, runtime behavior, Kubernetes and compliance. Avoid a single requirement such as “AI security” that vendors can interpret differently.
  2. Inventory your environments. Count cloud accounts and subscriptions, regions, clusters, workloads, identities, data stores and development workspaces. Include ephemeral resources and acquired business units.
  3. Classify deployment constraints. Record where read-only APIs are acceptable, where snapshots are permitted, where a runtime sensor is required and which teams can install agents or modify CI/CD pipelines.
  4. Create a common test set. Include an over-privileged identity, an internet-exposed vulnerable workload, a risky network path, a sensitive data store, a deliberately unusual runtime action and an AI-tool or extension scenario if workspace governance is in scope.
  5. Score context, not raw alert volume. Check whether each product explains asset ownership, reachability, exploitability, data sensitivity and the concrete remediation path.
  6. Test enforcement separately from detection. A finding is not a guardrail. Verify which policies can block an action, quarantine a workload, prevent a deployment or require approval, and identify the latency and rollback process.
  7. Model operating cost. Include implementation, sensor maintenance, policy tuning, alert triage, cloud expansion, support and renewal. For Pluto, clarify what the $1,000,000 marketplace contract counts; for competitors, request a written unit definition because public prices are not established here.
  8. Document exclusions. Record unsupported services, optional modules, data-retention limits, regional restrictions and capabilities that require a partner or separate product.

Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them

Buying a CNAPP to solve a workspace problem

Cloud posture findings will not tell you which employee-selected AI builder received a confidential prompt. Require direct evidence of workspace discovery and policy enforcement if that is your main concern.

Assuming agentless means zero operational work

Read-only APIs and snapshots reduce installation effort, but teams still need cloud permissions, connector maintenance, ownership mapping, policy tuning and exception handling. Orca’s runtime sensors are a concrete reminder that some use cases may need an additional component.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Comparing vendor scale claims as if they were independent benchmarks

Numbers such as Prisma Cloud’s stated event and attack volumes describe vendor-reported processing and detection scale. They do not establish comparative accuracy. Use your own test cases and production-like telemetry.

Ignoring the remediation owner

A graph can identify an attack path, but the fix may belong to an identity team, platform team, application owner or developer. During the proof of concept, require tickets that name the owner, explain the path and show the smallest effective fix.

Relying on old branding

FortiCNAPP was identified as the Fortinet portfolio integration of Lacework. Confirm the current name, SKU, roadmap and support boundary before signing, and make sure your internal runbooks use the same terminology.

Pricing and procurement reality

Pluto has the only public figure in the supplied material: an AWS Marketplace listing showing a $1,000,000, 12-month contract with contract-based pricing and no stated unit. That figure should be treated as a starting procurement reference, not a comparable rate card.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Public competitor pricing was not established for Wiz, Orca Security, Prisma Cloud, FortiCNAPP or Aqua Security. Request proposals that separate platform license, cloud-account or workload measures, users or workspaces, sensors, data retention, support, implementation and renewal increases. Ask vendors to price the same inventory and term so the comparison does not confuse a low entry quote with a complete operating cost.

Bottom line

For a cloud-security team replacing Pluto’s cloud-facing capabilities, start with Wiz or Orca Security: Wiz emphasizes graph-based attack-path prioritization through read-only APIs, while Orca emphasizes broad snapshot-and-API visibility with unified risk context and optional runtime sensors. Select Prisma Cloud for enterprise CNAPP breadth and compliance in a Palo Alto environment, FortiCNAPP for behavioral runtime detection, and Aqua Security for container and Kubernetes depth. If the requirement is specifically to govern employee AI-tool and builder use, none of these descriptions makes a general CNAPP an automatic substitute for Pluto; evaluate workspace controls directly or plan a two-layer architecture.
