Choose The Jackbox Party Starter for the safest mixed-age starting point, Party Pack 4 when more than eight people need to submit answers, and Party Pack 8 when you want several games built for 10 active players. Party Pack 2 is the strongest compact five-game set, while the Decade Bundle suits a host who will run Jackbox regularly and wants all 50 games from Packs 1–10.
Those recommendations depend on the individual game, not just the pack. A pack can advertise a broad player range while one of its games supports fewer participants. Audience play-along can make a smaller active-player limit workable for a much larger room.

Quick picks for different groups
| Best for | Pack | Relevant active-player limits | Audience support | Why it stands out | Main caveat |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mixed ages and first-time hosts | The Jackbox Party Starter | Varies by included game | Game-specific | Quiplash 3, Trivia Murder Party 2 and Tee K.O., plus documented moderation, subtitles, content filtration and settings upgrades | It is a three-game set rather than a full five-game Party Pack |
| More than eight people answering | The Jackbox Party Pack 4 | Bracketeering: 3–16 | Supported in Bracketeering | The clearest cited option when nine to 16 people should actively enter answers | That larger limit applies to Bracketeering, not automatically to every game in the pack |
| Several 10-player games | The Jackbox Party Pack 8 | Drawful Animate: 3–10; Job Job: 3–10; The Poll Mine: 2–10 | Supported in the listed games | Three different game types reach 10 active players | Other games in the pack can have different limits |
| Five varied games without a large bundle | The Jackbox Party Pack 2 | Pack-level listing: up to eight active players | Up to 10,000 listed audience participants | Earwax, Fibbage 2, Bidiots, Quiplash XL and Bomb Corp. cover several play styles | Most of the room may need to participate as audience rather than active players |
| Frequent hosts and broad variety | The Jackbox Decade Bundle | Bundle listing: 1–100 players | Up to 10,000 listed audience participants | All 50 games from Party Packs 1–10, with 5–30 minute sessions and optional family-friendly and moderation settings | It is a breadth purchase; buying everything is unnecessary if you only host occasionally |
The audience figures are listed capacities, not a promise that every device, network or venue will perform well at that size. Treat the game-specific limit as the deciding number for people who need to submit answers, draw, vote or otherwise act inside the game.

What “players” means in Jackbox
Active players versus audience members
An active player receives prompts, submits responses, draws, votes or makes choices that directly affect the round. Audience members watch the game and may be able to vote or otherwise influence results, depending on the title. A room of 20 therefore does not necessarily require a game with 20 active slots: you can place the maximum practical number of people in the game and let everyone else join as audience.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Pack marketing can combine both roles. For example, an official Party Pack 1 listing uses the phrase “For 1-100 players!” while the actual number of active participants still depends on the particular game. Read the support entry or in-game instructions for the title you intend to run rather than relying on a pack-wide headline.
Phones and tablets replace dedicated controllers
You do not need a set of console gamepads. Jackbox’s official Pack 2 description says, “Your phones or tablets are your controllers – no big mess of controllers needed.” The host runs the game on a supported display, and each participant uses a phone or tablet to join through the instructions shown on that display.
Ask guests to charge their devices, keep a browser available and use a reliable Wi‑Fi or mobile connection. A spare phone or tablet is useful for a guest whose battery dies, but a dedicated controller collection is not a prerequisite.

The Jackbox Party Starter: easiest mixed-age recommendation
The Starter is the most defensible first purchase when adults, teenagers and children will share a room. Its three games are clearly different: Quiplash 3 is a writing-and-comedy prompt game, Trivia Murder Party 2 is trivia with elimination-style tension, and Tee K.O. is a drawing-and-slogan game built around custom shirt designs.
Its advantage for a mixed-age host is documented control rather than a universal age promise. The pack identifies moderation tools, subtitles, content filtration and settings upgrades. Those controls let the host reduce or remove material that does not fit the group, while subtitles improve access for players who cannot rely on audio.

The Starter also documents French, Italian, German and Spanish voice acting, subtitles and credit songs. That makes it the strongest choice in this list when language support is a deciding factor, provided the edition available in your region includes the language option you need.
Do not treat the controls as a guarantee that every prompt suits every child. The host still chooses the game, decides which settings to enable and should be ready to skip an unsuitable response or stop a round.

Party Pack 4 earns its large-group recommendation from Bracketeering, which Jackbox Support lists for three to 16 players and with audience support. That is materially different from a normal eight-player party: people beyond the usual active limit can enter the competition instead of only watching.
Use Pack 4 when your priority is one unusually large active game. Before buying, check the other games’ limits if you expect to rotate through the entire pack. The 16-player figure belongs to Bracketeering; it should not be copied onto every title in the collection.
Party Pack 8: the strongest set for several 10-player formats
Pack 8 is more flexible than a pack with one large outlier. Jackbox Support lists Drawful Animate and Job Job for three to 10 players, and The Poll Mine for two to 10, each with audience support. Those games also cover different activities: collaborative or competitive drawing, prompt-based improvisation and opinion-driven group play.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Choose Pack 8 if your group repeatedly lands at around 10 active participants and does not want to make one specific game the centerpiece every time. As with Pack 4, verify the limit for any remaining title before planning a full evening around it.

Party Pack 2 includes Earwax, Fibbage 2, Bidiots, Quiplash XL and Bomb Corp. The official listing supports up to eight active players and an audience of up to 10,000. The lineup ranges from sound-based guessing and bluffing to a drawing-and-auction game, rapid writing prompts and cooperative task solving.
This is the practical middle ground for a host who wants five substantially different games without buying a decade-spanning library. It works especially well when the room can divide into active players and audience members, because the listed audience capacity is far above the active-player limit.
The Jackbox Decade Bundle: a library for repeat hosts
The Decade Bundle contains all 50 games from Party Packs 1–10. Its listing describes sessions of five to 30 minutes, a player range of 1–100, optional family-friendly settings, moderation settings and audience play-along of up to 10,000.
That breadth changes how you plan a party: you can select a short warm-up, switch to drawing or trivia, and finish with a longer competitive game without owning separate packs. It is best suited to someone who hosts repeatedly, manages a club or classroom-style event, or wants a large catalog for different audiences.

The bundle’s 1–100 figure is not a single-game guarantee. It is a bundle-level range that combines active play and audience participation across many titles. Check each game’s support entry before promising a particular number of active seats.
How to choose by group size
Up to eight active players
Start with the Starter if mixed-age controls and language options matter most. Choose Party Pack 2 if you want five varied games, or another pack only after identifying a particular game your group already wants. An eight-person active limit can still entertain a much larger room when audience voting is available.
Nine to 16 active players
Put Pack 4 first on your shortlist because Bracketeering is the specifically documented option for up to 16 active participants. If your group usually has about 10 people and wants multiple formats rather than one large game, Pack 8 gives you three listed 10-player choices.
More people than the active limit
Plan the evening around audience participation. Explain before starting that some guests will answer or draw while others vote and influence the outcome from their devices. Rotate active seats between rounds when the game allows it, so the same people are not always playing from the audience.

Recurring events with changing attendance
The Decade Bundle removes the need to predict one perfect game in advance. Its value comes from coverage across 50 games and different session lengths, not from every title supporting the largest advertised player count.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.

Mixed-age hosting: controls are only half the solution
Use settings before guests join
- Open the game’s settings before the first round and look for family-friendly, moderation, content-filtration or related options available in that title.
- Enable subtitles when hearing accessibility or a noisy room makes spoken prompts difficult to follow.
- Explain the house rule for skipping a prompt or response that is unsuitable. A host decision is faster and safer than debating it during a timed round.
- Choose games whose mechanics fit the youngest participant. A setting can filter content, but it cannot make every theme, joke or competitive mechanic appropriate for every child.
Match mechanics to the room
- Writing and comedy: Quiplash 3 and Quiplash XL depend on the group’s comfort with improvisation and public answers.
- Trivia and suspense: Trivia Murder Party 2 can create elimination-style pressure; explain that losing a round is part of the game.
- Drawing and slogans: Tee K.O. and Drawful-style games reward creativity more than artistic skill, making them useful when ages and abilities vary.
- Opinion and collaboration: The Poll Mine and Job Job can involve discussion, voting and negotiation rather than simple right-or-wrong scoring.
- Strategy or auction play: Bidiots may be less immediately accessible to younger players than a straightforward drawing or writing round.
These are host-selection decisions, not age ratings. The cited pack information does not establish one universal age rating for every included game.
Language, subtitles and regional availability
The Starter explicitly lists French, Italian, German and Spanish voice acting, subtitles and credit songs. If a multilingual group needs one of those languages, confirm that the store edition and platform you are purchasing expose the option; language availability can be edition-specific.
For every pack, verify the platform version, regional store listing and language menu before checkout. The same pack name can appear as separate editions, and the availability of a feature may differ by region. Do not assume that a language listed for the Starter applies to every other Party Pack.
How to run a smooth large-room session
- Count active seats first. Decide how many people must submit answers or perform actions, then choose a game whose documented limit covers that number.
- Assign the display. Use a television, monitor or projector that everyone can read. Keep the host device connected to power if the session may last several rounds.
- Tell guests what they need. A charged phone or tablet and a network connection are the essential equipment; dedicated gamepads are unnecessary.
- Start with a short round. Use a five-to-10-minute game or round to confirm that everyone can join before committing to a longer session.
- Explain audience rules. Tell spectators whether they can vote, how their votes affect scoring and when active seats will rotate.
- Keep a backup plan. If a game’s active limit is lower than expected, switch to audience play, divide the room into groups or move to another title whose documented limit fits.
Troubleshooting common party problems
A guest cannot join
Have the guest refresh the joining screen, confirm the phone is on the same practical network path as the host and close other bandwidth-heavy apps. If the device battery is low, use a charger or a spare phone. Do not delay the entire room while one player troubleshoots; let that person join as audience and rotate them in later.
The room is larger than the active limit
Do not promise every guest an active slot. Use a title with audience support, announce the active-seat rotation and select rounds where audience voting has a meaningful effect.
Prompts are unsuitable for a child
Pause, skip or end the round according to the game’s available controls. For future rounds, enable the Starter’s documented filtration or moderation options, or select a different game. Settings reduce risk but do not replace adult judgment.
People cannot hear the prompts
Turn on subtitles where available, raise the display’s volume without overpowering conversation and position the screen so text is readable from the back of the room. Subtitles are particularly useful in mixed-language groups and noisy venues.

Buying checklist
- Identify the maximum number of active players you need, not just the total headcount.
- Check the exact game limits for the titles you expect to play.
- Confirm whether audience participation is supported and how it affects the round.
- For mixed ages, look for documented moderation, content filtration and family-friendly settings, then plan to supervise prompts yourself.
- Check language options, subtitles, platform edition and regional availability.
- For a Nintendo Switch purchase, look for the current edition of The Jackbox Party Pack for Nintendo Switch and verify the seller, region and price before checkout.
- Remember that phones or tablets serve as controllers; buying extra gamepads is not required.
