The best fight stick is the one that matches your exact console or PC version, the control layout you prefer, and your budget. TechRadar’s September 16, 2026 guide to fight sticks names Razer Kitsune as its overall leverless pick, 8BitDo Arcade Controller as its budget leverless pick, Victrix Pro FS as its premium traditional stick, 8BitDo Arcade Stick as its Switch-oriented traditional stick, and HORI Fighting Stick Alpha as its Xbox pick. Those roles are a useful starting point, but several of these products ship as separate models for each platform, so confirm the model number before you buy.
Are fight sticks better than controllers for fighting games?
Not in any measurable way. TechRadar’s guide states that fight sticks provide no meaningful gameplay advantage over conventional controllers. The choice comes down to comfort, muscle memory, and the input style you already use. Many players who learned on a standard pad prefer to stay with it, while players coming from arcades usually want a stick. Neither group is playing at a disadvantage. The guide makes no latency or competitive-performance claim, and neither do the manufacturer pages cited here.

Check the exact platform version first
Model names hide important differences. Two products with nearly identical artwork can support different consoles, so confirm the platform before comparing features or prices.

- HORI Fighting Stick α, PlayStation (SPF-013U): HORI lists support for PS5, PS4, and Windows 11/10.
- HORI Fighting Stick α, Street Fighter 6 edition (SPF-033U): HORI lists support for PS5, PS4, and PC. It is a separate SKU with its own features and price.
- HORI Fighting Stick α, Xbox: HORI sells a distinct Xbox model. Its compatibility should be confirmed on its own product page rather than inferred from the PlayStation listing.
- 8BitDo Arcade Controller and Arcade Stick: Switch and Xbox versions are sold as separate models, and the Xbox versions list PC support. Do not assume one version works on the other platform.
Choose a control format
Most of the decision comes down to whether you want a joystick or a button layout. The format changes how your hands move during every match, so it matters more than any single spec.
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Switch and Windows.
- Supports ultimate software - customize button mapping and create macros
- Dynamic button layout - button mapping changes with mode functionally and visually
- Ultra-moddable arcade stick - Universal mounting plate supports Sanwa arcade sticks
- Three ways to connect: Bluetooth, 2.4g and wired USB-C. The included 2.4g receiver has a special hidden compartment to store it safely.
Traditional stick (joystick)
A traditional stick puts the directional input under your left hand on a lever, with face buttons under your right hand. Players who already use arcade cabinets or who play with classic motions generally find this the most familiar layout. Stick-based builds, such as the Victrix Pro FS, typically offer the most room for customization.
Leverless (button-based directional input)
Leverless controllers replace the joystick with directional buttons. TechRadar notes that leverless designs can take practice and are not automatically better for every player. Players who want a smaller footprint, or who already play on a pad, often find them easier to adopt. Expect a learning period before you judge the layout.

Premium and mainstream sticks for PlayStation and PC
HORI Fighting Stick α (SPF-013U)
This is the most straightforward choice for PlayStation and Windows players who want a tournament-style stick without a premium price. HORI describes it as having a HAYABUSA lever and matte-finished buttons. Its chassis opens for access to the internal arcade-grade parts, which makes swapping components and routine cleaning practical. The top-panel artwork can be replaced. Audio controls are built in, and four custom profiles can be set through HORI’s companion app. HORI says the model is available on Amazon. Its product page describes the chassis as opening for “easy customization and maintenance,” which is manufacturer language, not an independent test result.
Rank #3
- Compatible with Switch/Switch 2, PS4, PS3, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC Windows, macOS, Steam Deck, Android.
- Compatible with Sanwa Denshi buttons and joystick that is perfect for customization
- Supports the XINPUT and DINPUT when being used on PC
- Supports the Turbo functions with different speed settings.
- F300 is compatible with PS5 by MAYFLASH Magic-S Ultimate adapter or MagicBoots-S5 Converter.
HORI Fighting Stick α, Street Fighter 6 edition (SPF-033U)
This separate SKU shares the HAYABUSA joystick and buttons but adds a functional touchpad, a tournament lock, a 10-foot cable, and audio and microphone controls. HORI includes a download link for 18 additional interchangeable character images. The page states that the edition is licensed by Sony and Capcom. Choose it for the artwork and extras; if you only need the stick itself, the base model covers the same core layout. Confirm the platform before buying, since this edition’s listed support is PS5, PS4, and PC.
Victrix Pro FS
TechRadar describes the Victrix Pro FS as a wired PS5 and PC premium stick with an aluminum body and Sanwa Denshi controls. The controls sit behind an open hatch, so parts can be swapped without a full teardown. The guide’s two main caveats are its size and its price relative to less expensive options. At 3.5 kg, it is a heavy, desk-focused build. It fits readers who want a premium, customizable stick and are willing to pay for it, rather than a default pick for everyone.
Rank #4
- Compatible with PlayStation5, PlayStation4, and PC
- Officially licensed Sony peripheral
- Authentic Qanba buttons and lever
- Full control panel, touch pad, Qanba 30-mm B30 buttons, and Qanba OV7 OMRON switch joystick
- 3.5-mm microphone input with mute button control
Leverless options
Victrix Pro KO Street Fighter II: Champion Edition
Turtle Beach announced this leverless stick on March 11, 2026, with a launch date of April 9, 2026. It supports PS5, PS4, and Windows 10/11. Its hot-swappable Cherry MX Speed Silver RGB switches can be replaced without soldering, and it offers up to 16 movable and mappable buttons. Its US MSRP is $299.99. Victrix Director of Product Management Trevor Lehr described it as “the ultimate tool for gamers who refuse to settle for second best.” That is promotional language in the announcement, not an independent performance finding. The launch date has passed, and the announcement does not establish current stock or current selling price, so check retailers directly.
Razer Kitsune
TechRadar’s overall pick is a wired leverless controller for PS5 and PC. It is the lightest leverless option in this group at 0.82 kg and the guide highlights its portability and customization. It does not support PS4, so PS4 owners should look elsewhere.

TechRadar lists this as the budget leverless choice. It connects by wired USB-C or 2.4 GHz wireless and weighs 1.1 kg. Switch and Xbox versions are sold separately, and both support PC. Check the version you need before buying.
Xbox and Switch picks
Xbox: HORI Fighting Stick α
TechRadar names HORI’s Fighting Stick α as its Xbox pick. Because HORI sells separate PlayStation and Xbox models, confirm the Xbox SKU and its listed support on HORI’s Xbox product page before ordering. Do not assume the PlayStation SPF-013U listing covers Xbox.
Switch: 8BitDo Arcade Stick
TechRadar lists the traditional 8BitDo Arcade Stick for Switch, Switch 2, Xbox, and PC, with the Switch and Xbox models sold separately. It is the guide’s Switch-oriented traditional stick. Confirm the exact model against the console you own.
How the picks were evaluated
TechRadar says it assessed each pick for components, build quality, feel, customizability, and price, using roughly one-to-two weeks of product testing or recommendations from experienced fighting-game players. The guide’s rankings reflect that publisher’s editorial judgment, not an objective or universal consensus. The manufacturer pages cited here describe features and listed specifications, not measured performance. No independent latency or competitive-performance figures were found for these products.
Quick Recap
How to choose
- Confirm the platform and exact model. Match your console or PC, and check the SKU or edition name, not just the product line.
- Pick a control format. Choose a traditional stick if you already play on arcade-style controls. Choose leverless if you prefer buttons or want a smaller footprint, and budget time to adjust.
- Set a budget tier. Use the table to compare the listed prices. The 8BitDo Arcade Controller is the budget leverless option in TechRadar’s guide, while the Victrix Pro KO is the most expensive model listed here.
- Consider size and placement. The Victrix Pro FS at 3.5 kg suits a fixed desk setup. The Razer Kitsune at 0.82 kg suits players who move their setup often.
- Decide how much you want to customize. Look for replaceable parts and artwork, such as HORI’s opening chassis and replaceable panel, Victrix’s open hatch and hot-swappable switches, and HORI’s four profiles.
- Verify the price and stock on the retailer’s page. The prices here were checked on the dates shown and may have changed.
