There is no single best business loan for bad credit: the right fit depends on how much you need, what you will spend it on, your cash flow, location, time in business and how quickly you need funds. For smaller eligible startup or expansion costs, an SBA Microloan may be worth exploring. If your business has unpaid invoices or steady sales, invoice or revenue-based financing may be another route—but compare the full repayment amount and payment schedule, not just the advertised speed.
What “business loans for bad credit” can mean
The phrase covers different kinds of financing, not one standardized loan or credit-score category. Options may include SBA or nonprofit microloans, short-term loans, equipment financing, invoice factoring and sales-based funding. A lender’s minimum score is specific to that lender and product; it is not a universal cutoff for business borrowing.

Some financing puts less emphasis on a personal credit score and more on invoices, revenue, bank-account activity or platform history. That still involves underwriting, and a product with a faster or less conventional application may have a higher cost or a repayment schedule that puts pressure on cash flow.
Options to consider
SBA Microloans for eligible smaller expenses
SBA Microloans are made through nonprofit community-based intermediaries. The U.S. Small Business Administration says loans can be up to $50,000, with an average loan of about $13,000. That average is a program figure, not a predicted offer or approval amount for an individual applicant. The intermediary—not the SBA—makes the credit decision and sets the borrower’s terms. See the SBA Microloan program page.
#1 Best Overall
The SBA says funds may be used for working capital, inventory, supplies, furniture, fixtures, machinery and equipment. They may not be used to pay existing debt or purchase real estate. The SBA lists interest rates generally ranging from 8% to 13% and a maximum term of seven years; the intermediary determines the actual rate, fees and repayment terms.
Nonprofit lenders, including an Ascendus example
Nonprofit lenders may consider a wider picture of a business than a single credit score, but eligibility and pricing are lender-specific. LendingTree’s September 30, 2026 comparison lists Ascendus with a 575 minimum credit score, six months in business, rates of 7.75%–15.99%, a $200 application fee and a 5% closing fee. It also reports that Ascendus is unavailable in Vermont. These are dated secondary-source figures, not a quote; confirm current eligibility, costs and availability with the lender before applying. See LendingTree’s microloan comparison.

Invoice and sales-based financing
If customers owe your business money, invoice financing or factoring may let you access funds tied to those receivables. Revenue- or sales-based financing may instead rely on transaction history and collect repayment from future sales. These structures can be relevant when conventional credit is a barrier, but their costs and payment mechanics differ from a standard installment loan. Work out the total amount due and how often payments are collected before comparing offers.

“No credit check” should not be read as “no underwriting,” “no cost” or “approval guaranteed.” A provider may assess business revenue, invoices, account activity or platform history, and alternative financing can cost more than a conventional loan.

LendingTree’s June 12, 2026 comparison reported Kiva as having no minimum credit-score, time-in-business or revenue requirement and 0% interest. It also said the amount depends on funds raised during a private fundraising period and review can take up to two weeks. Those details are a secondary-source snapshot and are not confirmed here against current primary Kiva terms. Check Kiva’s current requirements, process and repayment terms directly before relying on them. See LendingTree’s no-credit-check comparison.

Do not choose an offer based on the words “bad credit,” a headline rate or a fast funding claim alone. Compare the terms that determine whether the financing fits your business:

- Ideal For Small Business or Personal Use: An accounting log journal can track your business or personal financial status. With a clear record of transactions, you can find unnecessary expenses or fraudulent charges
- Total cost: Ask for the full amount you will repay, including fees. If pricing uses a factor rate rather than APR, request the dollar repayment total and an explanation of how the rate is applied.
- Amount and permitted use: Confirm the lender will fund the amount you need and that your planned expense is eligible.
- Payment structure: Check the term, payment frequency and whether collections vary with sales. Daily or frequent deductions can strain a business with uneven cash flow.
- Eligibility: Review credit criteria alongside revenue, time in business, industry, geography and any required account or platform history.
- Security and liability: Ask whether collateral or a personal guarantee is required, and read the agreement to understand what you may be responsible for.
- Timing: Verify the application and funding timeline against your actual deadline; a review period or fundraising requirement can change when funds are available.
A practical way to narrow the choices
- Define the need. Write down the amount, the specific use and the latest date the funds must arrive. Rule out products that cannot fund that use.
- Check repayment capacity. Estimate available cash after payroll, rent, taxes, suppliers and other obligations. Test whether scheduled payments remain manageable in a slower sales period.
- Start with a fitting channel. For eligible smaller working-capital or equipment needs, look for an SBA Microloan intermediary. If repayment is backed by invoices or sales, compare relevant financing structures and their collection schedules.
- Request written, comparable terms. Get the total repayment, all fees, payment dates or frequency, term, collateral and guarantee requirements, and any early-payment conditions in writing.
- Verify the current offer. Comparison pages can help identify options, but only the lender’s current disclosures and agreement establish the terms available to you. Confirm that the provider serves your state and business type.
What the available figures do—and do not—tell you
The SBA’s published Microloan ranges describe the program, not an approval formula. The SBA page does not establish a universal minimum personal credit score for these loans; the intermediary evaluates applicants and sets terms. Likewise, the Ascendus and Kiva details above are dated comparison-page reports, not guarantees that a particular borrower qualifies or will receive those terms.
Compare actual written offers on total dollars repaid, timing and obligations. If a lender will not clearly explain fees, collection frequency, collateral or personal liability, do not treat a quick funding promise as a substitute for that information.
