Amazon’s 2026 component deals offered a few worthwhile listings, but the overall sale was less impressive than the headline prices suggested. PMG’s analysis found that average discounts and the share of discounted products were both lower than in 2025 and 2024. The hardware examples also need context: the cited RAM deals were at Newegg, not Amazon, and October’s Prime Big Deal Days prices are now historical snapshots.
Why the 2026 Prime Day discounts felt underwhelming
Amazon’s US Prime Day ran June 23–26, 2026, and was exclusive to Prime members. It was separate from October’s Prime Big Deal Days, which ran October 6–7. The June event’s marketplace-wide numbers support a restrained verdict, though they do not measure SSD, RAM, or GPU deals specifically.

PMG analyzed more than 30 million Amazon US products, including Prime Day deals and general promotions visible to non-logged-in users. It found average discount depth of 20.9% in 2026, below 21.8% in 2025 and 24.9% in 2024. Only 29.7% of products carried a discount, compared with 31.8% in 2025 and 31.7% in 2024. PMG’s full-event analysis is a broad marketplace measure, not a component-specific scorecard.

The distribution also leaned toward shallower markdowns: 35.8% of discounted offers were in the 10%–19% band in 2026, up from 31.4% in 2025 and 27.6% in 2024. Offers at 50% off or more accounted for 5.6% in 2026, down from 8.5% in 2024. A large discount badge, then, was not representative of the typical offer.

What the SSD and GPU examples actually showed
SSD: Samsung 9100 PRO
Windows Central listed the Samsung 9100 PRO 1TB at Amazon for $206.99 during June Prime Day, describing it at the time as the model’s lowest observed price in 2026. Its 2TB version was listed at $349.99. Those were June event prices, not current offers. See Windows Central’s June SSD deal coverage.
In an October 6 report, TechSpot listed the 1TB Samsung 9100 PRO, a PCIe 5.0 NVMe drive, for $196 against a stated normal price of $340. TechSpot’s assessment was that many October discounts repeated prices available for weeks or before recent price increases, even though selected offers remained. The October figure is a separate snapshot from June’s and does not establish the drive’s historical low or the savings against its typical street price. Read TechSpot’s October hardware-deal report.

GPU: Asus Radeon RX 9070 GRE
TechSpot also listed an Asus AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE with 12GB of GDDR6 for $529, against a stated list price of $790. That is a specific board listing, not a guarantee that every RX 9070 GRE model or retailer offered the same price. A list price alone cannot show how often the card sold for less, and the October deal has ended.

The named RAM examples in the June coverage were at Newegg. Windows Central listed a 32GB G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-6000 kit for $394.99 with coupon code FTTF374, and a 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000 kit for $389.99 with code FTTF378. The Corsair price was described as a discount from Newegg’s then-current sale price. These coupon-dependent prices are historical and should not be presented as Amazon Prime Day offers. How to tell whether a component deal is genuinely good
Do not treat a crossed-out reference price or a “deal” badge as proof of savings. Windows Central describes checking Amazon price history with CamelCamelCamel and cautions readers about inflated reference prices. Its October event coverage also noted sales at Best Buy and Newegg, making retailer comparison relevant rather than assuming Amazon has the lowest price. Read Windows Central’s October event guidance.

Prime Day and Prime Big Deal Days were separate events
Amazon announced the June 23–26 US Prime Day dates on June 1, 2026, and said the event was exclusive to Prime members. The October 6–7 sale was Prime Big Deal Days, not an extension of June Prime Day. Amazon’s announcement described Prime Day as its “biggest shopping event of the year exclusively for members,” a retailer characterization rather than independent evidence about discount quality. Amazon’s US announcement gives the event dates and membership scope.
