It combines dependable low-latency receiver performance, a replaceable AA battery, a proven sensor and a compact shape. The Logitech US product page showed a temporary $34.99 sale price against $59.99 when checked on October 13, 2026, but that is a volatile snapshot rather than a permanent price.
Choose the Razer Basilisk V3 X HyperSpeed instead if you want a larger right-handed ergonomic shell, a thumb rest, more controls and Bluetooth. Choose the approximately 40.7 g MCHOSE L7 Pro only when very low weight and a small symmetrical FPS shape matter more than long-term support confidence. The right answer depends on hand size, grip, games, connectivity and current price—not on a single universal ranking.

These are different solutions rather than four versions of the same mouse. Shape, mass and support can matter more than a higher DPI ceiling.
1. Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED: the safest default
RTINGS calls the G305 its best budget wireless recommendation for most people in its 2026 budget gaming-mouse guide. Its appeal is consistency: the sensor tracks reliably, click latency is solid, and the USB receiver uses the low-latency connection most PC gamers want for competitive play. Logitech’s official specification gives the HERO sensor an adjustable range of 200 to 12,000 DPI and advertises up to 250 hours on one AA battery. The advertised runtime is a manufacturer claim, not a standardized independent battery test.
#1 Best Overall
- The next-generation optical HERO sensor delivers incredible performance and up to 10x the power efficiency over previous generations, with 400 IPS precision and up to 12,000 DPI sensitivity
- Ultra-fast LIGHTSPEED wireless technology gives you a lag-free gaming experience, delivering incredible responsiveness and reliability with 1 ms report rate for competition-level performance
- G305 wireless mouse boasts an incredible 250 hours of continuous gameplay on just 1 AA battery; switch to Endurance mode via Logitech G HUB software and extend battery life up to 9 months
- Wireless does not have to mean heavy, G305 lightweight mouse provides high maneuverability coming in at only 3.4 oz thanks to efficient lightweight mechanical design and ultra-efficient battery usage
- The durable, compact design with built-in nano receiver storage makes G305 not just a great portable desktop mouse, but also a great laptop travel companion, use with a gaming laptop and play anywhere
Who fits the G305 best
- Players who want a straightforward 2.4 GHz gaming connection and do not need Bluetooth.
- Users who prefer replaceable batteries over charging a built-in cell.
- Fingertip users and people who like a compact, symmetrical-feeling egg shape.
- Gamers who want a reliable general-purpose mouse without paying for lighting or elaborate controls.
RTINGS’ review notes that the small ambidextrous body works well for fingertip grip across hand sizes. Larger-handed users who rest their whole palm or use a full claw grip may find the rear too short, forcing their fingers into an uncomfortable curl. Measure your current mouse or check a retailer’s return policy before committing if you have large hands.
What you give up
The G305 is receiver-only, so it cannot pair directly with a laptop or tablet over Bluetooth. Its single AA cell is easy to replace but adds a maintenance step and can make the mouse feel heavier than an integrated-battery design. There is no RGB lighting. Those omissions keep the design simple and help the G305 remain a strong value when its live price is low.
2. Razer Basilisk V3 X HyperSpeed: ergonomic comfort and Bluetooth
The Basilisk V3 X HyperSpeed is the better match for buyers who dislike compact ambidextrous shells. Its large right-handed contour fills the palm, and the thumb rest provides a defined place to anchor your hand. Receiver mode is intended for gaming; Bluetooth is convenient for browsing, work or a laptop with limited USB ports.
Controls and battery claims
Razer lists nine controls and up to two years of warranty coverage on its product page. Its FAQ clarifies that seven buttons are programmable, while the nine-control figure includes additional control functions. Treat those as separate numbers rather than assuming every control is a remappable button.
Razer claims up to 285 hours in HyperSpeed mode or up to 535 hours over Bluetooth from one AA battery. Usage, polling behavior and other settings affect real runtime, so these figures are useful for estimating battery frequency, not promising an identical result for every setup.

When its weight is a problem
The hand-filling shell and extra hardware make the Basilisk substantially heavier than an ultralight FPS mouse. RTINGS identifies that weight as a downside for fast reaction-based play. For strategy games, action games, productivity and casual shooters, the mass may feel stable and comfortable. For players who make large, rapid low-sensitivity swipes in competitive FPS titles, a lighter design is usually easier to move and stop.
3. MCHOSE L7 Pro: a conditional ultralight FPS option
RTINGS lists the L7 Pro at about 40.7 g and recommends it for enthusiasts playing fast-paced FPS games. Its small symmetrical shell targets claw grip for small-to-medium hands and fingertip grip for larger hands. That combination can feel exceptionally agile when the dimensions suit you.

Why it is not the universal winner
The low mass comes with meaningful uncertainty. RTINGS reports shell flex under moderate pressure, says large hands may struggle with the compact body, and notes mixed community feedback and an inconsistent support track record. The cited warranty is one year, shorter than the two-year coverage listed for the Logitech and Razer alternatives. Verify the actual seller, return window and warranty process in your country before ordering.
Choose the L7 Pro when you already know that a small, light symmetrical mouse fits your grip and your priority is rapid FPS movement. It is a poor blind recommendation for someone who values a rigid shell, a broad palm rest or predictable after-sales support.
How to choose the right mouse before you buy
Set a price ceiling using the live listing
Wireless gaming prices move with sales, stock and region. The Logitech page displayed $34.99 on sale from $59.99 in the United States on October 13, 2026. That price should not be treated as an evergreen guarantee. Compare the current delivered price in your country, including taxes and shipping, and check whether the seller is authorized to honor the stated warranty.

- Play Longer : With 60-90 hours battery life and LIGHTSPEED Wireless, this rechargeable gaming mouse(with included USB-A to USB-C cable) delivers lag-free 8 kHz polling for uninterrupted focus
A higher-priced model is not automatically better for your hand or games. If the G305 is close to its regular price while an ergonomic competitor is discounted, reassess the shape and features rather than following an old ranking.
Match dimensions to grip
- Palm grip: Start with a larger shell such as the Basilisk. A short mouse can leave your palm unsupported.
- Claw grip: The G305 can work for many users; the L7 Pro targets small-to-medium hands, while larger hands should check its length carefully.
- Fingertip grip: Compact or light bodies are often easier to control. RTINGS specifically notes the G305’s fingertip suitability across hand sizes.
- Left-handed use: None of these recommendations is a dedicated left-handed ergonomic mouse. The symmetrical G305 or L7 Pro is more plausible, but side-button placement still matters.
Use a ruler to record the length, width and height of a mouse you already like. Compare those measurements with the manufacturer or retailer listing instead of relying only on words such as “large” or “compact.”
Choose mass for your games
Lightweight designs reduce the effort needed for repeated flicks and broad swipes, which is why the L7 Pro appeals to FPS enthusiasts. Heavier ergonomic mice can feel steadier and more substantial, and they may provide a more relaxed palm posture. Neither characteristic is universally superior. Your sensitivity, desk space, pad friction and preferred grip all change the result.
Understand receiver versus Bluetooth
Use the 2.4 GHz USB receiver for gaming when both modes are available. It is the connection to prioritize for responsiveness and stable polling. Bluetooth is useful for a second device, travel or casual use, and the Basilisk’s manufacturer runtime claim is longer in Bluetooth mode. The G305 has no Bluetooth, so it needs an available USB port or a compatible adapter.
Plan for battery maintenance
The G305 and Basilisk both use one replaceable AA cell. Keep a spare available, or use a rechargeable AA if its voltage and charger are appropriate. Replaceable power avoids waiting for an internal battery to charge, but it also means the mouse can stop during a session if you do not monitor the cell. Manufacturer runtime figures vary with mode and usage; do not compare them as if they came from one laboratory test.

Pay only for controls you will use
Additional inputs are valuable for MOBAs, MMOs, productivity shortcuts and games that use many commands. They add little if you play a small set of FPS titles and prefer the lightest possible shell. On the Basilisk, distinguish the seven programmable buttons from the nine total controls described by Razer.
Check support before choosing a lesser-known model
For an established product, support documentation and replacement policies are easier to find. With the L7 Pro and other newer alternatives, confirm firmware availability, return shipping, warranty length and the seller’s reputation. A low sticker price can lose its advantage if a defect becomes difficult to resolve.
Connection and setup checklist
- Install the battery or charge as directed. For the G305 or Basilisk, insert a compatible AA cell and close the battery cover securely.
- Connect the receiver directly. Plug the 2.4 GHz dongle into a USB port on the PC rather than starting with a passive hub. Keep it close to the mouse if your desktop or case creates interference.
- Install the manufacturer’s configuration software only if needed. Use it to adjust DPI, remap supported controls, update firmware or manage profiles. The mouse should still provide basic pointer control without a custom profile.
- Select the gaming mode. On a dual-mode mouse, choose the receiver connection for games. Switch to Bluetooth only when convenience or battery conservation matters more than gaming latency.
- Set one sensible DPI value. Start with a comfortable sensitivity and change it gradually. A 26,000-DPI maximum on another model does not make it more accurate at ordinary settings.
- Test every click and side control. Open a text editor and a game practice range. Confirm left, right, middle and side inputs, then verify that remapped commands do not conflict with the game.
Troubleshooting common problems
The pointer stutters or disconnects
- Move the receiver to a front or nearby USB port and avoid placing it behind a metal PC case.
- Replace a depleted AA battery or test with a fresh cell.
- Close other software that is repeatedly changing profiles or polling settings.
- Test the mouse on another computer to separate a mouse fault from a USB or driver problem.
Bluetooth works but gaming feels inconsistent
Switch to the supplied 2.4 GHz receiver. Bluetooth is intended for convenience and can have different latency and power behavior. If your computer lacks a free USB-A port, use a compatible adapter or choose a model whose connectivity matches your setup before purchase.
The shape causes hand pain
Stop using it for long sessions and reassess grip pressure, wrist position and dimensions. A large ergonomic shell is not automatically healthier, and an ultralight shell is not automatically comfortable. Use the retailer’s return period to change shape rather than trying to force your hand to adapt to a poor fit.

Buttons do not perform the assigned action
Check the active software profile, confirm that the button is programmable on that model, and test the assignment outside the game. On the Basilisk, remember that the nine-control specification does not mean nine independently remappable buttons.

How the alternatives change the buying decision
PC Gamer’s 2026 wireless-mouse guide names the MCHOSE G3 V2 Pro as a budget pick and lists 59 g, a 26,000-DPI PAW3395 sensor and USB-C wired, 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth connectivity. That recommendation illustrates why “best budget” changes with each guide’s priorities. A feature list can favor the G3 V2 Pro, while hand fit, measured performance, current price or warranty can favor another model.
Use those specifications as a reason to investigate the G3 V2 Pro, not as proof that its sensor or shape will outperform every alternative for you. Check the live listing, seller, return terms and firmware support before buying.
