There is no single best 24-inch monitor for everyone: choose a gaming-focused display for high refresh and fast motion, or an office monitor for laptop charging, an adjustable stand and comfortable text. RTINGS’ September 24, 2026 guide names the BenQ ZOWIE XQ2566X its top 24-inch pick, but its 360Hz TN panel is a specialist gaming choice—not a universal recommendation. For a more affordable gaming option, RTINGS points to the Dell SE2426HGS or LG 24GS65F-B; for laptop work, TechRadar recommends the BenQ GW2486TC.

Quick comparison: which 24-inch monitor fits your use?

Monitor Best for Size and resolution Panel and refresh rate What to know
BenQ ZOWIE XQ2566X Competitive gaming 24-inch category; 2560 × 1440 TN; up to 360Hz RTINGS reports very quick response, VRR compatibility and optional backlight strobing. It also notes low dark-room contrast and narrow viewing angles.
Dell SE2426HGS Value gaming, according to RTINGS 24-inch category; 1920 × 1080 IPS; 240Hz RTINGS says its refresh rate and response make it smoother for gaming than the LG, but its brightness, reflection handling and stand ergonomics are weaker.
LG 24GS65F-B Budget gaming with broader everyday use 24-inch category; 1920 × 1080 IPS; 180Hz RTINGS says it has wider viewing angles and is more well-rounded for work than its BenQ top pick, but is less smooth and shows more motion blur.
BenQ GW2486TC Office work and laptop connection 24-inch; 1920 × 1080 Not stated in TechRadar’s cited review TechRadar reports an adjustable stand, USB-C and 65W power delivery; it also describes brightness as limited and resolution as less sharp than 1440p or 4K.
Dell P2425H Entry-level office work Not stated in RTINGS’ cited notable mention Lower refresh than the LG; exact rate not stated RTINGS notes a USB hub and says its motion handling is less suited to gaming.

These are source-specific recommendations and specifications, not claims of hands-on testing by Freedom251. RTINGS says its guide covers monitors currently available in the United States and weighs cost, relative performance and ease of finding a product. Best 24-inch monitor for competitive gaming: BenQ ZOWIE XQ2566X

RTINGS names the BenQ ZOWIE XQ2566X its top 24-inch monitor in its guide updated September 24, 2026. Its listed combination of 2560 × 1440 resolution and a maximum 360Hz refresh rate is unusual for this size class. RTINGS also describes a very quick response, VRR compatibility and optional backlight strobing, a feature intended to improve perceived motion clarity.

That recommendation is aimed at players who value motion performance. RTINGS cautions that the TN panel has narrow viewing angles and low contrast in dark rooms; backlight strobing can also introduce image duplication. For shared viewing, dark-room movies or general office use, those trade-offs make it a less obvious fit.

Best value and budget 24-inch gaming monitors

Dell SE2426HGS: prioritize high refresh on a budget

RTINGS calls the Dell SE2426HGS its best cheap 24-inch monitor, listing an IPS panel, 1920 × 1080 resolution and 240Hz refresh rate. It says the Dell’s higher refresh and quick response make gaming smoother than on the LG 24GS65F-B. The trade-offs RTINGS identifies are lower brightness, weaker reflection handling and a less ergonomic stand.

Check the product suffix carefully. DisplayNinja separately identifies the Dell SE2426HG—without the final “S”—as its best-value 24-inch monitor and lists it as a 23.8-inch, 1920 × 1080 IPS model with 240Hz refresh. The two guides do not establish that SE2426HG and SE2426HGS are interchangeable; confirm the full model number on the regional product listing.

LG 24GS65F-B: a more rounded budget choice

RTINGS lists the LG 24GS65F-B as a 24-inch-category IPS monitor with 1920 × 1080 resolution and 180Hz refresh. Compared with its BenQ gaming pick, RTINGS says the LG is less smooth and has more motion blur, but offers wider viewing angles and a more well-rounded experience for work. It also notes lower pixel density than the 1440p BenQ and more visible reflections than that model.

For someone who games but also uses the screen for everyday tasks, the LG’s balance may matter more than reaching the highest refresh rate. For competitive play, compare its 180Hz ceiling and motion behavior with the 240Hz Dell and 360Hz BenQ rather than treating all “gaming” labels as equivalent.

Best 24-inch monitor for office work and a laptop

BenQ GW2486TC: USB-C with laptop charging

TechRadar’s 2026 business-monitor review recommends the BenQ GW2486TC for affordable office essentials and laptop charging. It describes a 24-inch, 1920 × 1080 display with 250-nit brightness, an adjustable stand, USB-C and 65W power delivery. TechRadar also reports using the monitor and characterizes its brightness as limited and its Full HD resolution as less sharp than 1440p or 4K; those are that publication’s assessment, not an independent test by Freedom251.

USB-C power delivery can let one cable carry the display signal and charge a compatible laptop, but check that the stated charging capacity suits your laptop and confirm the exact regional model. If your work depends on crisp small text or having more room for large documents, compare a 1440p display before choosing Full HD.

Dell P2425H: consider it for a basic office setup

RTINGS includes the Dell P2425H among its notable mentions as an entry-level work monitor with a USB hub. Its cited guide says the Dell has lower refresh and worse motion handling than the LG 24GS65F-B, making it less suited to gaming. The cited information does not establish a full specification or current price comparison, so verify the precise configuration before purchase.

What to prioritize: gaming, office work or color-sensitive tasks?

For gaming, balance refresh rate with resolution and motion handling

A 240Hz or 360Hz panel can refresh more often than a 180Hz screen, but the practical benefit depends on your games, hardware and ability to drive high frame rates. The BenQ ZOWIE XQ2566X pairs its high refresh with 1440p resolution; the Dell and LG options listed by RTINGS are 1080p. Choose a resolution your graphics system can sustain at the frame rates you want, and consider VRR and response behavior alongside the headline refresh number.

High refresh is aimed at smoother gameplay, not sharper text. At a compact size, 1080p is common; 1440p can make text and fine detail sharper, while also asking more of the graphics system in games.

For office and laptop setups, check the stand and ports first

For a work monitor, an adjustable stand, usable brightness, text clarity and the ports needed by your computer may be more valuable than a gaming refresh rate. If you want a USB-C hub or laptop charging, confirm both the connection features and power delivery on the exact model and regional SKU. A USB hub and USB-C laptop charging are distinct conveniences: do not assume one implies the other.

For color-focused work, distinguish claims from independent validation

ViewSonic describes its VP2456A as a 23.8-inch-viewable Full HD IPS monitor with factory calibration, Delta E <2, 100% sRGB coverage and ergonomic adjustment. These are manufacturer claims, not independent measurements or proof of professional color validation. ViewSonic’s product page gives conflicting USB-C charging figures—a feature bullet says 60W, while overview text says 90W—so do not rely on either figure without checking a current definitive specification or manual.

Why “24-inch” can mean different screen sizes

Monitor category names are rounded. DisplayNinja says its 24-inch guide includes actual diagonals from 23.5 to 24.5 inches and also discusses 25-inch alternatives. The BenQ ZOWIE XQ2566X and Dell SE2426HGS are listed in RTINGS’ 24-inch category, while DisplayNinja gives the Dell SE2426HG a 23.8-inch diagonal. Compare the stated viewable diagonal and exact model number, not just the category label.

How to choose before you buy

  1. Pick the main job. For competitive gaming, compare refresh, response, VRR and resolution. For office work, start with text sharpness, stand adjustment, brightness and port needs.
  2. Decide whether 1080p is enough. Full HD is common in this size range; consider 1440p if sharper text or more desktop detail matters and your gaming hardware can handle it.
  3. Match connections to your setup. Check whether you need USB-C display input, laptop power delivery, a USB hub or a particular video input. Verify the exact SKU’s manual or specification sheet.
  4. Verify the listing. Confirm the full model suffix, actual diagonal, regional availability, included stand and current price with the seller. These details can vary or change.
