Yes, you can still find Beetlejuice: The Animated Series legally in the United States—but there is no single, dependable streaming home for every episode. The 1989 cartoon appears through scheduled MeTV Toons broadcasts, paid listings on Apple TV and Amazon Video, occasional free availability on Tubi, and legitimate DVD copies. Catalogs, schedules and regional rights change, so a service page is not proof that an episode will actually play.
What the Beetlejuice cartoon is
Beetlejuice: The Animated Series is a 1989 animated television spinoff of Tim Burton’s 1988 film. Apple TV identifies it as an ABC production starring Stephen Ouimette as Beetlejuice and Alyson Court as Lydia. Episodes run about 22–23 minutes in the listings reviewed and are classified TV-G.

The show turns Lydia Deetz and the ghost Beetlejuice into an ongoing comedy team. Lydia travels between the living world, called the Outerworld, and the Neitherworld, where the series expands the film’s supernatural setting with recurring monsters, rules and locations. Beetlejuice is no longer a supporting menace who appears for one story; he is the central comic lead.

That makes the cartoon different from both live-action films. Lydia is a continuing child protagonist, Beetlejuice is substantially more present, and the tone is lighter and episodic. Grotesque visual jokes, monsters and death-themed comedy remain, but the format is designed as children’s and family animation rather than a feature-length horror comedy.
#1 Best Overall
For parents, TV-G is a useful starting point, not a complete content warning. Expect spooky imagery, cartoon peril, monsters, supernatural jokes and occasional humor that may feel more mature than a preschool show.

Why it became so difficult to watch
The cartoon was not literally absent from legal distribution for decades. Its problem was a lack of one stable, obvious place where most viewers could press play.
Rank #2
- Beetlejuice: The Complete Series - DVD Brand New
- It is a library series rather than a current original, so licensing has moved between physical media, digital storefronts, ad-supported services and specialty television.
- Major subscription platforms have not maintained a consistently visible home for the series.
- Digital stores may divide episodes into seasons or volume listings instead of presenting one complete-series package.
- A search result can remain online after playback rights end, or can be restricted to another country.
- Broadcast availability depends on local carriage and a particular schedule, not on-demand access.
That is why “hard to find” is the accurate description. It means inconvenient and unstable to locate in a legitimate format—not that the show was never officially released.
Where U.S. viewers can watch it
The following options reflect the latest U.S. listings checked. Verify the live playback or purchase screen before paying, because rights and prices can change.
| Option | Access type | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| MeTV Toons | Scheduled linear television | The official page lists broadcasts, including overnight Saturday and Sunday slots in the schedule reviewed. You need local carriage or a participating provider; the page does not establish an on-demand library. |
| Apple TV Store | Digital purchase | The series and individual episodes are listed. Whether a particular season or episode can be bought depends on the current U.S. storefront. |
| Amazon Video / Prime Video | Digital purchase or volume listing | Season-volume pages exist, including a Season 4 Volume 2 listing. Check whether the live page offers a purchase, rental, Prime inclusion or an additional channel. |
| Tubi | Free, ad-supported streaming when available | Tubi retains official series and episode pages, but the Season 4 page checked says “content unavailable.” A page in search results is not proof of playable access. |
| Legitimate DVD | Physical ownership | Official DVD releases have been an important fallback for fans. Check the publisher, region, disc count and episode list; used listings may be incomplete, mislabeled or bootleg. |
Are the episodes free?
Sometimes, but “free” describes different kinds of access. MeTV Toons can be viewed without a separate series purchase when your television provider carries the network, but you must watch at the scheduled time. Tubi’s model is free with advertising when the title is licensed and playable in your territory. The latest guide results checked did not show a free U.S. streaming option on demand.

- BEETLEJUICE complete series dvd
JustWatch listed paid purchase signals through Amazon Video and the Apple TV Store: $14.99 for a Season 1 listing and $19.99 for a Season 4 listing when checked. Those figures are time-sensitive guide data, not guaranteed current prices, and may represent a season or volume rather than the entire series.

Is the whole series streaming?
Do not assume so. The cartoon has official pages across several services, but the evidence does not establish that every season and episode is playable in one U.S. subscription catalog.
- Open the exact season or episode page rather than relying on a general search result.
- Look for a live Play, Buy or Watch button and confirm the displayed country.
- On Amazon, identify whether the offer is a purchase, rental, Prime benefit or channel subscription.
- On free services, test playback; an indexed page may remain after licensing has ended.
If you need one particular episode, search its title separately on Apple TV, Amazon and Tubi. Season pages can be incomplete or split into multiple volumes.

Is the animated series on Max?
There is no verified evidence in the current listings that the animated series is included with Max. Warner Bros. Discovery’s December 6, 2024 announcement concerns Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the 2024 live-action sequel, not the 1989 cartoon. The two titles should not be treated as having the same streaming rights.
Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max announcement refers specifically to the sequel.
Why fans still seek it out
The series has its own identity rather than functioning as a shortened version of the film. Lydia has a larger role, the Neitherworld becomes an expansive recurring setting, and Beetlejuice’s selfish, attention-seeking behavior drives continuing slapstick plots. The result is a lighter show with macabre design and supernatural world-building that the movies only began to suggest.

Buying versus watching free
Choose scheduled television if you want no purchase
Check MeTV Toons first if you are in its coverage area and can follow overnight or weekend broadcasts. This is the most straightforward no-purchase route, but it does not let you select any episode on demand.
Choose a digital store for immediate viewing
Apple TV and Amazon are the practical places to check when you want to watch now. Confirm the exact season, volume and transaction type before checkout. A storefront purchase also does not guarantee that every season is sold together.
Choose DVD for the most dependable long-term access
A legitimate disc set avoids rotating streaming licenses and disappearing platform pages. Because the precise edition details vary by listing, verify region compatibility, publisher information, disc count and episode coverage before buying. A used marketplace description that says “complete series” is not sufficient by itself.
A practical search order
- Check MeTV Toons: use the official series page and confirm local carriage and the current schedule.
- Search the exact season or episode: compare Apple TV and Amazon Video listings, noting whether each result is a purchase or a subscription offer.
- Test Tubi directly: treat “content unavailable” or a missing Play button as a licensing or regional restriction, not a device problem.
- Consider a legitimate DVD: use the disc’s verified release information if you need access that does not depend on a changing catalog.
Viewers outside the United States should repeat this process using their own country’s storefronts and television schedules. Rights, prices and available seasons can differ substantially by region.
