The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 deal PC Gamer listed on October 7, 2026 pairs an RTX 5070 capped at 115 W with a 16-inch, 1200p 165 Hz display. That’s an appealing gaming configuration on paper, but the included 512 GB SSD is its clearest compromise. PC Gamer listed it at Best Buy for $1,599.99; that is a dated deal, not a confirmation of today’s price or stock.
Why this TUF Gaming A16 stands out
PC Gamer’s hardware writer Andy Edser called the laptop one of his favorites and argued that 1200p should be manageable for its 115 W RTX 5070. That is the writer’s assessment, not a published benchmark result. The combination is attractive because the display’s resolution is less demanding than higher-resolution gaming screens, while its 165 Hz refresh rate can make supported games look smoother.

The listed configuration also includes a Ryzen 9 8940HX processor and 16 GB of DDR5 memory. Those specifications describe the configuration in the roundup; they do not establish how it performs in any particular game or workload.

The figures come from PC Gamer’s October 7, 2026 deal roundup, not a live price check. The roundup’s statement that its selected products had at least 25% off was a selection criterion, not an independently calculated discount specific to this ASUS configuration. Check the current listing for price, stock and the exact configuration before buying. The cited deal names Best Buy, not Amazon. PC Gamer’s wider October Prime Day guide covers multiple retailers, but does not make this particular listing an Amazon offer.

Is 512GB enough storage for a gaming laptop?
It may be enough if you keep a small installed library and regularly remove games you no longer play. It is a tight starting point for someone who wants several large games installed alongside apps and personal files. The deal writer himself called it a “teeny tiny SSD” and recommended adding a 1 TB drive.
That recommendation is not enough to identify a compatible replacement or expansion drive. The roundup does not give an exact SKU, storage interface, available slot or free-slot status. Before ordering an SSD, confirm the laptop’s precise model and consult ASUS’s service documentation or the retailer’s complete specification. Do not assume that every TUF Gaming A16 configuration has the same upgrade options.
