What was the price, and is $500 off real?

High-power RTX 4070 Laptop GPU
A 140W RTX 4070 Laptop GPU is a strong 1440p/1600p-class mobile graphics solution. It is not equivalent to a desktop RTX 4070, and frame rates vary with the game, power limit, cooling, ray tracing, DLSS and resolution. Native 1600p looks sharper but can require DLSS or lower settings in demanding titles.
Sharp, fast panel
The 16:10 2560×1600 resolution and 165Hz refresh rate are better suited to modern gaming than a basic 1080p screen. ASUS specifies 100% sRGB coverage, G-SYNC and a 3ms response-time claim. Gamut coverage is not the same as measured color accuracy, brightness or calibration quality; Notebookcheck found the panel suitable for gaming but underwhelming for color accuracy.
Useful expansion
The two SO-DIMM slots and two M.2 slots make a future memory or storage upgrade practical. Sixteen gigabytes is adequate for most games and everyday use, but 32GB is more comfortable for large open-world games, streaming, heavy browser workloads, content creation and virtual machines. Confirm whether the shipped laptop uses one 16GB module or two 8GB modules before drawing conclusions about memory channels.

- Maximum-fan mode reached approximately 59dB, making demanding gaming loud.
- The CPU occasionally reached approximately 95°C and could throttle during heavy workloads.
- The webcam and speakers were described as mediocre.
- The display’s gaming characteristics were stronger than its color accuracy.
Silent, Performance and Turbo profiles can materially change noise, temperatures and performance. The listed 90Wh battery capacity also does not predict gaming or productivity runtime by itself.

The FA607PI is a 2024 platform, not the newest TUF A16 generation. ASUS’s store catalog showed a 2025 TUF A16 signal starting at $1,549.99 when crawled in August 2026, with headline options including a Ryzen 7 260 processor and RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. ASUS cautions that a displayed starting price and the specifications shown may not describe the same configuration, so this is not a like-for-like quote.

Compare the actual checkout prices, GPU power limits, memory, display, warranty and seller. The older RTX 4070 model can be the better value when it is substantially cheaper; the newer machine deserves consideration when the premium is modest and you want the newer GPU generation and platform.
