The genuine Japanese 「テプラ」PRO SR330 取扱説明書 is available from King Jim as a 112-page PDF. Download the official SR330 manual. It is the third edition (March 2014; the manual index lists the update as May 1, 2014). The SR330 itself is discontinued, but it accepts standard King Jim PRO P-TAPE cartridges in 4, 6, 9, 12, 18 and 24 mm widths and runs from the supplied AC0615J adapter or six AA alkaline batteries.

The manual covers safety, included accessories, power, cartridge installation, Japanese text entry, formatting, printing, saved files, maintenance, error messages, specifications and after-sales information.

These are explanatory translations, not English labels officially supplied by King Jim. The machine supports romaji input (ローマ字入力) and kana input (かな入力), with Japanese conversion candidates confirmed from the keyboard.
How to make your first label
- Connect power. Use the supplied AC0615J with a household AC100V outlet where possible. For battery operation, switch the unit off, insert six AA alkaline cells with the polarity shown in the compartment, and close the cover.
- Install a cartridge. Turn the printer off and open the upper cover. Remove ribbon slack by gently turning the reel with a pencil or similar object. Put the cartridge label-side up, press it down until it locks, straighten any long or bent tape end, and guide it through the tape path. Close the cover; never lift the printer by that cover.
- Feed the tape. Turn the unit on and run テープ送り (tape feed) after every cartridge installation. Do not pull tape by hand during feeding or printing.
- Enter text. Choose romaji or kana input. For a name such as 伊藤, type its reading, cycle through conversion candidates, confirm the desired kanji, and use the line-break key for additional lines.
- Format and preview. Set orientation, character and paragraph options, borders or other layout features as needed. The みえ2 (Mie²) preview is a layout guide, not a pixel-perfect proof.
- Print. Verify that the cartridge is seated, the cover is closed and the adapter is connected if used. Press print; the SR330 prepares, prints and normally cuts automatically. Stop/cancel interrupts a job. Pressing power during printing stops the process, cuts the tape and switches the unit off.
- Apply and shut down. Peel the backing, press the label firmly onto a clean surface, then turn the SR330 off.
Replacing batteries while the machine is on can erase saved files, entered text and learned input data. Removing all batteries for about four minutes or longer can also lose stored data.
Formatting and built-in features
- Vertical and horizontal printing suits binder spines, file labels and Japanese name labels.
- The manual lists two Japanese kanji typefaces, three kana typefaces and three alphanumeric typefaces.
- There are seven background patterns, 75 border designs, four table layouts, and symbols for office, warning, shipping, environmental and household uses.
- The SR330 stores the latest three print records for quick reprinting; this is not cloud or document history.
- It has no continuous-printing function. Repeated labels are made by repeated print operations.
- The largest character size on 18 mm and 24 mm tape is the same, so 24 mm gives more physical width but not necessarily larger characters.
Compatible PRO tapes and cutter cautions
The supported standard widths are 4, 6, 9, 12, 18 and 24 mm. A cartridge fitting the PRO ecosystem is not automatically fully supported by this older model. The manual and product information exclude or restrict cable-display labels, cut labels, transfer tape and some specialty cartridges. Iron, high-temperature, masking, magnetic, ribbon and heat-shrink products may require automatic cutting to be disabled or may not be supported. Check the model notes before buying.
For current cartridge listings, use King Jim’s official PRO tape directory. If a tape is cutter-sensitive, disable automatic cutting and finish with scissors. Do not force the mechanism or pull tape aggressively.

Troubleshooting
The printer will not turn on
- Push the AC0615J connector fully into the printer and confirm the outlet works.
- Check that all six AA alkaline batteries are fresh and correctly oriented.
- Do not substitute an adapter unless its voltage, polarity, connector and model compatibility are verified.
“Check the cartridge” or cartridge not detected
- Turn the SR330 off and open the cover.
- Remove and firmly reseat the cartridge in the correct position.
- Straighten the tape end and place it in the guide.
- Close the cover completely, turn the unit on and feed the tape.
An unsupported width or specialty tape can produce the same practical failure symptoms.
Faint, streaked or incomplete printing
Possible causes include a dirty head, unsuitable or aged tape, excessive printing heat, or worn parts in a discontinued machine. King Jim lists cartridge-style head-cleaning tape on its official PRO options page. Cleaning cannot restore a worn head, motor, cutter or power component.
The printer stops during repeated printing
Continuous operation can overheat the print head. Switch the unit off, remove the cartridge and let the head cool before trying again.
Too many lines for the tape
Install a wider cartridge, delete a line, or reduce lines and character size where available. The exact line capacity depends on tape width.

Text does not fit a fixed-length label
With 定長印刷, shorten the text, reduce character size, increase the selected length, or cancel fixed-length mode. The selectable range is 1–50 cm.
Saved files disappeared
Likely causes are battery replacement while powered on, removing batteries for roughly four minutes or longer, or battery failure during operation. Replace batteries only with the unit off.
The display turns off
After about five minutes without operation, the SR330 can power off automatically to conserve battery power. A brief blanking after an accidental key operation can also occur.
The tape does not cut correctly
Check whether the tape requires cutting to be disabled, whether it is aligned, and whether the cutter is dirty or worn. Specialty tape may need scissors. A replacement cutter or repair should be considered rather than forcing a discontinued mechanism; compatibility of accessories must be confirmed on the official options page.

Is a discontinued SR330 still practical?
It remains useful when you already own one, need Japanese keyboard-based labeling, and can obtain standard PRO tape and the AC0615J adapter. It is a poor fit if you require smartphone or PC design, barcode or QR output, modern batch printing, a backlit high-resolution screen, guaranteed parts, or broad specialty-tape support.
For a used unit, test these points before paying:
- Model marking clearly says SR330.
- AC0615J adapter is included or obtainable.
- Battery compartment has no corrosion or leakage.
- Every keyboard key registers and the display is readable.
- Cover locks, tape feeds and the cutter operates.
- A test label prints evenly with a compatible PRO cartridge.
King Jim lists a historical manufacturer price of ¥14,800 before consumption tax; that is not a current resale valuation. Used availability and condition vary because the model is discontinued.
Official supplies
Use the PRO cartridge directory for tape families and dealer links, and the PRO options page for the AC adapter, cleaning tape and model-specific accessories. Confirm SR330 compatibility before ordering any specialty cartridge, adapter or cutter.
