Tom Hiddleston plays Edmund Hillary, and Willem Dafoe plays expedition leader Colonel John Hunt in Apple’s feature film Tenzing. Genden Phuntsok—not Tenzing Norgay Trainor—is credited as Tenzing Norgay. Apple lists select theatrical showings from October 9, 2026, followed by global streaming on Apple TV on October 16, 2026.

Is Tenzing Norgay Trainor in the Apple movie?
Apple’s displayed cast does not list Tenzing Norgay Trainor. It credits Genden Phuntsok as Tenzing Norgay, the historical climber at the center of the film. The similarity between the actor’s name and the character’s name can cause confusion, but the official listing does not establish a role for Trainor. See Apple’s Tenzing cast listing.

What is the film about?
Apple describes Tenzing as a feature film based on true events, centered on the 1953 Everest ascent. Its synopsis follows Tenzing’s effort to join the British climbing team in his own right, with support from Dawa and Jill Henderson, and the tension around colonial rank, class, background, and ambition. It contrasts Western climbers’ view of Everest as something to conquer with Tenzing’s reverence for Chomolungma as a sacred mother goddess.
That is the film’s framing, not a complete historical account of the expedition. Apple’s film materials establish the story and credits but do not, by themselves, provide an independently sourced history of the climb.
When does Tenzing come out on Apple TV?
Apple lists select theatrical showings beginning October 9, 2026, and global streaming on Apple TV beginning October 16, 2026. Apple confirmed the schedule in its September 16, 2026 announcement. Regional availability and platform schedules can change, so check Apple’s official Tenzing film page for current details.
Where can you watch it?
The announced streaming destination is Apple TV. The theatrical date applies to select theaters, not a stated nationwide release; check local listings for showtimes.
