What it leaves out is just as important. It is a dual-band design with no 6 GHz radio, no 320 MHz channels, and no USB port. That makes it a sensible choice for a household that wants current Wi-Fi and faster wired links without paying for a tri-band flagship, but it is not a router for buyers who need the newest band or a rich security and parental-control suite.
Its headline speeds are manufacturer maximums, not measured throughput. The only measured figures we found come from a single review published September 28, 2026.

What the Tenda BE12 Pro is
Tenda classifies the BE12 Pro as a BE7200 dual-band Wi-Fi 7 router. Its official specification lists the following hardware:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- A 4-core CPU rated at 2 GHz, with 512 MB of RAM.
- Five external antennas.
- Two 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN ports (listed as “2*10/100/1000/2500Mbps WAN/LAN ports”).
- Three 1 Gbps WAN/LAN ports (listed as “3*10/100/1000Mbps WAN/LAN ports”).
The two 2.5 Gbps ports are the most practical hardware difference for wired users. Any one of the five ports can serve as WAN, so the router can sit behind a fibre or cable modem with a multi-gig uplink, or behind a slower connection with the 1 Gbps ports.

How to read the speed numbers
Tenda rates the 5 GHz band at up to 5,765 Mbps using 160 MHz channels, and the 2.4 GHz band at up to 1,376 Mbps. Its feature page adds those two figures to a combined theoretical rate of up to 7,141 Mbps.
Those numbers describe the radio link under ideal conditions, not what a laptop or phone will download. Each band’s figure is a maximum link rate for the whole band, and a single client rarely comes close to it, because distance, walls, client capability, and the number of devices all reduce the rate. Adding the two bands together also produces a figure no single device can use.
Tenda’s own wording on the feature page is direct: “The data on this page are theoretical values obtained from Tenda’s internal laboratory under specific test conditions.” The page adds that actual performance may vary with product variations, software versions, usage conditions, and environmental factors. Treat the 7,141 Mbps figure as a comparison number for marketing, not a speed you should expect.

Measured performance: what one review found
The World Programming Society review, dated September 28, 2026, reports the following results for the BE12 Pro. It also compares them with the TP-Link Archer GE400 and Asus RT-BE88U. The published excerpt does not describe the client devices, test tool, room layout, or firmware version, so these results cannot be reproduced or generalised from the excerpt alone.
| Band | Tenda rated maximum | Review result, close range | Review result, 30 feet |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2.4 GHz | Up to 1,376 Mbps | 212 Mbps | 82 Mbps |
| 5 GHz (160 MHz channels) | Up to 5,765 Mbps | 1,774 Mbps | 709 Mbps |
Measured against Tenda’s ratings, the review’s close-range 5 GHz result is roughly 31% of the maximum, and its 30-foot result roughly 12%. On 2.4 GHz the figures are about 15% and 6%. These percentages are our arithmetic from the figures above, not numbers the review reports. They show the gap between link rate and delivered throughput rather than a flaw specific to this router, since most consumer routers show a similar gap.
What the router leaves out
The official specification lists 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands only, which is consistent with the review’s findings. The review states that the BE12 Pro:

Features on paper
Tenda’s material lists MLO, MU-MIMO, OFDMA, 4K-QAM, Multi-RUs, and EasyMesh support, along with WPA2 and WPA3 modes and IPv4 and IPv6. Additional features include guest networking, bandwidth control, NFC, a dedicated IoT network, parental-control filters and time limits, and VPN client and server functions. The VPN section names OpenVPN and WireGuard client support.
Tenda’s overview pages and technical parameter list do not always use the same names for features, so check a specific function against the product’s own settings before relying on it. The sources reviewed do not describe the VPN server setup in detail.

Operating modes and what is in the box
The specification lists three modes: router, access point, and universal repeater. Tenda says the box includes a Cat 6 Ethernet cable, a power adapter, a quick installation guide, and an NFC sticker, so you do not need to buy a cable separately.
The product lists CE and FCC certifications. Radio channel availability varies by country, so do not assume every frequency or channel listed on the spec sheet is permitted where you live.

Firmware and support
Tenda’s support page lists V1.0 firmware entries, a user guide, and setup materials. The sources we reviewed do not state how long Tenda will supply firmware updates, what its update policy is, or the full history of security advisories. If long-term security updates matter to you, ask Tenda for its support commitment before purchase.
OpenWrt
Some forum users have asked whether the BE12 Pro works with OpenWrt, for example in this OpenWrt community discussion. Those posts are user questions, not confirmation. The official pages we reviewed do not establish OpenWrt support, so treat it as unconfirmed.
Price and availability
The review dated September 28, 2026 gives a US price of $159.99. That is a dated report, not a verified current price. Prices and stock change, so check the current listing in your region before you buy.

Who should buy it
The BE12 Pro fits a household that wants Wi-Fi 7 features, multi-gig wired ports, and an option to add Tenda mesh, and that accepts a dual-band design. Before buying, check these five points:
- Client support. Do your phones, laptops, and other devices support Wi-Fi 7 and MLO? Older clients will connect at older Wi-Fi standards and gain little from this router’s Wi-Fi 7 features.
- Band needs. Do you need 6 GHz or 320 MHz channels? If yes, this router is not suitable.
- Wired needs. Does your broadband, NAS, or desktop run over Ethernet at speeds above 1 Gbps? If yes, the two 2.5 Gbps ports are the main reason to choose this model.
- Extras. Do you need USB storage or sharing, richer parental controls, or bundled security software? If yes, look elsewhere.
- Mesh. Do you plan to extend coverage with a second unit? If yes, confirm a compatible Tenda model first.
This framework comes from the features and omissions described above. It does not guarantee coverage or throughput in any particular home, because building layout, interference, and client mix all change real-world results.
Sources and evidence limits
Hardware, band rates, feature lists, and the Tenda quotations come from Tenda’s official product feature page and specification. The measured performance and the price come from one review, and we did not find independent test data that corroborates its figures. Compatible mesh models, a support lifespan, and OpenWrt support are not established by the sources reviewed.
