Temple of Seasons vs. Oracle of Seasons: Is It a Separate Zelda Game?

Temple of Seasons is not another official Zelda game. It is a location in Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons; the same name has also been used for a reported fan-made ROM hack based on that game. Those are the two meanings behind the comparison.

What does “Temple of Seasons” refer to?

There are two relevant uses of the name:

  • The story location: The Temple of Seasons is part of Oracle of Seasons. In the story, Onox sinks it into Subrosia, disrupting the seasons in Holodrum. It is not a separate game. Source: Wikipedia’s overview of the Oracle games.
  • A fan project: A 2026 PlayCentral report describes a fan-made ROM hack called The Legend of Zelda: Temple of Seasons. According to that report, it modifies Oracle of Seasons and is distributed as a patch, not as a complete game. Read the PlayCentral report.

The report says the hack requires a suitable US Oracle of Seasons ROM as its base and highlights a swordless premise. Those are details reported about the project, not features of an official Nintendo release. The project’s authoritative page, current version and present availability have not been established.

How the official Oracle games differ

Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages are two distinct, related Game Boy Color adventures released in 2001—not alternate names for the same game. They were published by Nintendo and developed by Flagship. Source: Wikipedia’s overview of the Oracle games.

What to look for when identifying a listing

  • If you want Nintendo’s original game, look for The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons.
  • If a listing says Temple of Seasons, check whether it means the in-game temple or the fan hack. The hack is reported as a patch requiring a base ROM, not a standalone commercial release.
  • Do not treat a fan patch as a licensed Nintendo cartridge or assume the report confirms that the project is currently available.
