Telia Company intends to reduce approximately 900 positions across its group and target SEK 1 billion in annual gross savings. The roughly $100 million figure is a currency conversion of the company’s Swedish-krona target, not a separate dollar target. The announcement, made October 12, 2026, describes planned changes rather than completed job cuts.
What Telia plans to change
Telia says the plan is intended to localize operations further, give country units a stronger role in responding to customer needs, and support profitable growth. The approximately 900-position reduction is planned across all units and includes employees and resource consultants. Resource consultants make up about 3% of both total positions and intended reductions. Telia’s announcement describes the plan and its scope.

Separately, Telia proposes transferring approximately 220 positions, primarily from its common Technology unit to country units. These are transfers, not additional reductions to add to the 900-position figure.
How the intended reductions are distributed
Telia reported approximately 14,100 total positions across its operations as of October 1, 2026. Its table gives these approximate reduction figures:
#1 Best Overall
| Country | Intended position reductions |
|---|---|
| Sweden | 260 |
| Finland | 280 |
| Norway | 150 |
| Lithuania | 110 |
| Estonia | 100 |
| Other countries | Not stated by Telia |
The country numbers are approximate figures in Telia’s announcement; it does not provide a reduction allocation for “Other” countries. They should not be read as a final individual or location-level staffing plan.
What the $100 million savings figure means
Telia’s stated target is SEK 1 billion in annual gross savings. Reuters reported an equivalent of approximately $99.96 million using an exchange rate of SEK 10.0042 per US dollar. The dollar amount is an approximate conversion, not a separately announced Telia target. Reuters’ same-day report provides the conversion basis.
“Gross savings” is the company’s stated measure; the announcement does not establish that the amount will equal net savings after restructuring costs or other effects.
Restructuring costs and the 2026 outlook
Telia estimates restructuring charges of approximately SEK 600 million in Q4 2026. It expects the cash-flow effects mainly in 2027 and said the charges were not expected to affect its 2026 financial outlook, which it reiterated in the announcement.
Rank #3
Telia said it would provide further comments on the expected financial impact alongside its Q3 2026 report, scheduled for October 22, 2026. Its newsroom listing also identifies that reporting date: Telia Company newsroom.
