What “Autoclean” means in practice
Tefal describes the Autoclean Catalys soleplate coating as helping eliminate fibres and impurities that cling to the plate. Its general care FAQ says the coating is intended to help prevent the soleplate from clogging and to remove fibres and impurities that can reduce glide. The FAQ qualifies this feature as applying to Autoclean Catalys models, so check that your specific FV5355 variant has this soleplate. Maintenance: use the model-specific instructions
Tefal’s general Aquaspeed guidance advises owners to consult the relevant manual for any auto-clean function, unplug the iron and let it cool before maintenance, wipe it with a damp soft cloth, and avoid cleaners or solvents. It also says to clean an anti-calc valve monthly when the iron has that system. In very hard-water areas, that FAQ suggests mixing 50% untreated tap water with 50% distilled water. Because the FAQ concerns another Aquaspeed model, treat those as general guidance—not a replacement for the FV5355 manual’s exact procedure.

The FV5355 family manual includes anti-scale care instructions. Follow the applicable regional manual, and do not use vinegar, descaler, abrasive pads or other cleaning methods unless that manual permits them. FV5355 family manual copy.
Safety and automatic shutoff
The model-family manual says the iron is intended for domestic use and instructs users to unplug it before filling, before cleaning and after use. It describes an Auto-Stop feature on applicable models, but availability and timing may vary across FV53XX variants. Repair, parts and buying another iron
Tefal presents parts and repair routes for the French FV5355E0 variant. That establishes a support route for that version, not current stock or repair availability in other countries. If you are choosing a replacement, compare the FV5355 with candidates using the same model and region details. Useful points include steam output and shot rating, soleplate type and cleaning requirements, anti-drip and anti-scale features, automatic shutoff behavior, tank capacity, cord arrangement, regional voltage and power, parts support and current price.
