The TECO TPO26CFWAO is a cooling-only 2.6 kW portable air conditioner with fan and dehumidifying modes, Wi-Fi control, and a supplied exhaust duct and window kit. It may suit a room where a portable unit can be vented outdoors, but its published specifications do not establish a suitable room size or real-world cooling performance. CHOICE lists the model but restricts its test details to members, so the public evidence does not support a performance score or recommendation.
What the TPO26CFWAO offers
TECO Australia positions this model for medium-sized rooms, but its product specifications do not give a recommended floor area. Whether 2.6 kW is adequate depends on factors such as the room, heat load, climate and installation; the capacity figure alone cannot settle that question.

These are manufacturer figures on TECO Australia’s product page, not independent measurements. In particular, 64 dB(A) is a sound-power rating, not a measured noise level at a listener’s position in a room. The stated weight also does not, by itself, tell you how easy the unit will be to move in your home.
The model is cooling-only, not reverse-cycle: it does not provide heating. It includes a remote, sleep mode, a 24-hour timer, casters and a washable filter. TECO says the package includes a 1.5 m exhaust duct and window kit.

Installation is a deciding factor
Like other portable air conditioners that exhaust hot air, the TPO26CFWAO needs a route outdoors. Its duct carries waste heat and moisture out of the room; the window kit helps make that connection. If your window cannot accommodate the kit or be sealed around the outlet, the installation may be impractical.
The June 2024 TECO TPO26CFWAO user manual identifies the exhaust hose, hose connector, window-kit adapter, remote control, drain hose and window kit among the accessories. TECO warns against replacing or extending the exhaust hose, saying this can reduce efficiency or cause the unit to shut down. Plan around the supplied duct rather than assuming a longer or generic hose will work.

Controls, Wi-Fi and routine care
Smart Life app
The manual describes Wi-Fi control through the free Smart Life app and says the appliance needs a permanent connection to the home router. For setup, it specifies placing the appliance about five metres from the router. Those are the manufacturer’s instructions; app compatibility and the current setup experience have not been independently tested here.
Filter maintenance
TECO’s manual says to clean the air filter every two weeks. Rinse it and let it dry completely before reinstalling. The manual also covers drainage and long-term storage, so consult it for the steps that apply to your usage and storage conditions.

What independent testing establishes
CHOICE has a Teco TPO26CFWAO review page. Its publicly visible listing shows a price of $599 and identifies a 2.6 kW capacity, 22.5 kg weight, R290 refrigerant, a 150 cm duct and a window kit. The price is the amount displayed when the page was accessed on 7 October 2026, not a verified current offer.
CHOICE’s expert rating and test details are behind its membership access. The publicly visible information therefore does not establish a test score, cooling result, noise finding or recommendation. The difference between the page’s 150 cm duct listing and TECO’s 1.5 m figure is simply two ways of expressing the same length.

How it sits in TECO’s portable range
TECO’s Australian portable-air-conditioner range includes models at several capacities. The TPO26CFWAO sits between the listed 2.05 kW TPO20CFAO and 3.5 kW models; the range also includes 4.1 kW and 4.2 kW products. Some alternatives add reverse-cycle heating, inverter operation, voice control, more fan speeds or filtration features. Check the model-specific specifications rather than assuming a feature carries across the range.
Capacity and features are only part of the decision. Compare the required window setup, duct arrangement, unit dimensions and weight against your space and how you will use it. TECO’s range page displays a two-year warranty for its portable air conditioners; confirm the current warranty terms for this specific model before buying.
R290 safety and service
The TPO26CFWAO uses R290 refrigerant. TECO’s manual says components are designed for propane and must be replaced only with identical parts. It also states: “Only an Authorised Service Person can carry out servicing or repairs to this appliance.” Do not attempt refrigerant-system repairs yourself; contact authorized service for that work.
