First, make sure you are comparing the 5G POVA 7
TECNO’s non-5G POVA 7 is a different phone, not just another name for the POVA 7 5G. The manufacturer lists a Helio G100 Ultimate processor, 120Hz display and 7,000mAh battery for the non-5G model. By contrast, the non-5G POVA 7 product page and the POVA 7 5G specification page show different hardware. Check the full model name on the listing and box before using this comparison to make a purchase.
Display: same refresh rate, different resolution
Both phones are listed with 144Hz displays. The POVA 7 5G’s screen is slightly larger at 6.78 inches and has a 2460 × 1080 resolution; the POVA 8 5G review lists 6.76 inches and 2344 × 1080. That gives the POVA 7 5G more vertical pixels on paper, while the refresh-rate specification is the same. The figures describe specifications, not a measured difference in brightness, color, or outdoor visibility.

Performance and memory: different platforms, not a proven winner
TECNO lists a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultimate in the POVA 7 5G, while Android Central lists a MediaTek 7100 in the POVA 8 5G. The chipset names alone are not enough to establish which phone performs better; the sources cited here do not provide a consistent, controlled benchmark comparison.
Memory figures need careful reading. TECNO’s POVA 7 5G page describes 16GB total RAM as 8GB physical RAM plus 8GB extended RAM. Extended RAM uses storage as memory expansion and is not another 8GB of physical RAM. That page lists 128GB or 256GB storage. Android Central lists the POVA 8 5G with 6GB or 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Confirm the exact configuration offered in your market.

Battery and charging: POVA 8 5G lists the larger capacity
The POVA 8 5G’s reviewed configuration has an 8,000mAh battery and 45W wired charging. TECNO lists a 6,000mAh battery and 45W Flash Charge for the POVA 7 5G, plus 30W wireless charging. On listed capacity, the POVA 8 5G has the larger battery; capacity alone does not establish real-world battery life, which also depends on use and other hardware. Check the regional phone variant and included charging accessories before buying.
Cameras: matching megapixel counts do not prove matching results
Both phones are listed with a 50MP rear camera and a 13MP front camera. TECNO also lists a light sensor with the POVA 7 5G’s rear camera. These headline specifications do not show how the phones compare in image quality, video, low light, or camera processing. The cited sources do not provide controlled head-to-head camera testing, so a camera winner cannot be established from these figures.

Design and other features
The POVA 8 5G’s most unusual feature is its Active Matrix rear display. Android Central describes it as showing information such as notifications, charging status, a music waveform and the time when the phone is face down. That is a reviewer-described feature, rather than a specification verified here against an official POVA 8 5G product sheet. Its usefulness depends on whether you want a secondary display on the back of the phone.
TECNO lists FreeLink and a status light among the POVA 7 5G’s features. Android Central lists the POVA 8 5G at 225g and IP64. The cited information does not establish matching weight or protection figures for the POVA 7 5G, so there is no supported comparison for those attributes.
