The Technics EAH-A1000 and Sony WH-1000XM6 are premium wireless noise-cancelling over-ear headphones, but the clearest differences are weight, battery claims and codec support. Technics lists up to 45 hours of playback and support for up to three connected devices; Sony lists up to 30 hours with noise cancelling on, weighs less, and supports SBC, AAC, LDAC and LC3. There is not enough evidence here to declare one the better noise-canceller or a better fit for every listener.

The table separates manufacturer specifications and prices from the independent reviewer’s subjective sound impressions. Battery figures are each manufacturer’s claims, not results from a controlled head-to-head test.

Which one is lighter and likely to suit long listening?
Sony’s listed weight is about 52 g lower than Technics’ approximate UK figure. That makes the WH-1000XM6 the lighter option on paper, but weight alone cannot establish which headphone will feel more comfortable. Head shape, clamping force, pad contact, glasses and personal sensitivity all affect fit; the available information does not establish a personalized comfort winner.

How do the battery and device features compare?
Battery life
Technics claims up to 45 hours of playback, but the cited pages do not specify whether that figure assumes noise cancelling is on or off. Sony states its conditions explicitly: up to 30 hours with noise cancelling on and up to 40 hours with it off. These figures use different stated conditions and should not be read as a direct endurance-test result.
Codecs and multipoint
Technics UK lists LDAC and the ability to connect to as many as three devices. Sony lists SBC, AAC, LDAC and LC3, plus multipoint; its cited specification page does not give a device limit. If your setup depends on a particular codec or switching among several devices, check compatibility and the manufacturer’s current regional specifications before buying.

What do reviews say about sound and noise cancelling?
In its dated review, What Hi-Fi describes the Technics as smooth and refined, while judging the Sony more rhythmically precise and dynamically subtle. These are that publication’s listening impressions, not measurements or a guarantee of how the headphones will sound to you. Your fit, listening level, music and tonal preferences can change what stands out.
