TDK says its B3272*A/G/T DC-link film capacitor family is qualified for continuous operation at case temperatures up to +135 °C, with no derating required up to +105 °C. That is a manufacturer-stated qualification under defined conditions—not a guarantee that every part can be used at +135 °C in every design. Engineers selecting a component should verify the exact ordering code and its datasheet limits against the circuit’s electrical, thermal and mechanical requirements.
What TDK’s +135 °C rating means
In its September 30, 2026 announcement, TDK says the B3272*A/G/T family is “qualified for continuous operation at case temperatures of up to +135 °C, with no derating required up to +105 °C.” The temperature refers to the capacitor’s case, not ambient temperature. The statement is from the manufacturer; it is not an independent test result or a substitute for checking the operating conditions and derating guidance for an individual part.

TDK also specifies useful life of 100,000 hours at rated voltage and +85 °C. That figure applies to the stated voltage and temperature condition; it should not be extrapolated to a different voltage or temperature. See TDK’s announcement and family data.

The B3272*A/G/T series is a family of DC-link film capacitors for power electronics. TDK says the capacitors use an EPN dielectric blend of polypropylene (PP) and cyclic olefin copolymer (COC), a material system it says has already been proven in its ModCap UHP power capacitors.

TDK names on-board charging units, xEV traction inverters, automotive DC-DC converters, industrial drives and high-end power supplies as intended applications. These are examples for this series; the broader applications listed for TDK’s DC-link capacitor category should not be assumed to apply specifically to every B3272 variant.
Published family options and ranges
The announcement lists five family variants, including 2-pin and 4-pin designs and a low-profile option. Capacitance, current and dimensions differ by type. The current figures below are maximum RMS current values at +85 °C and 10 kHz as reported by TDK; they are not universal current ratings at other frequencies or temperatures.

The announcement’s rendered table provides an unambiguous voltage range only for B32724A. These are family-level ranges, not a complete ordering specification: exact ratings and limits can vary among part numbers. Consult the announcement and the exact part datasheet before design approval.

- Thermal conditions: Match the capacitor’s case temperature and ambient environment to the application. Check the exact part’s derating and operating conditions; the family headline does not define every design’s allowable operating point.
- Fit and connections: Check package dimensions, case height, lead spacing and 2-pin or 4-pin arrangement against the board, busbar and enclosure.
- Qualification and environment: Verify the ordering code’s AEC-Q200 status, humidity or THB conditions, and any other qualification requirements for the intended application.
- Supply and cost: Compare current cost and availability with a distributor or TDK sales channel. These are time- and supplier-specific, not fixed family specifications.
