The TV in the October 6, 2026 deal reports is TCL’s 65-inch QM8L, model 65QM8L. Amazon was reported to have it for $1,077.99, versus a cited $2,499.99 launch-price reference—a calculated discount of about 57%. That is a dated offer, not a confirmed live price: a separate October 6 listing reported the same Amazon price, while TCL’s product page displayed $1,399.99 when accessed. Check the current listing before buying.
Which TCL TV was reported on sale?
It is the TCL 65QM8L, the 65-inch version of TCL’s 2026 QM8L series. TCL lists the series in 65-, 75-, 85-, and 98-inch sizes. The TV is a 4K UHD HDR smart model built around SQD-Mini LED technology and Google TV. TCL’s product page identifies the series and its features.

The October 6 report described the 65-inch set as $1,077.99 at Amazon, down from a $2,499.99 launch-price reference. The arithmetic yields a $1,422 reduction, or roughly 57%. Slickdeals also listed the 65QM8L at $1,077.99 on Amazon on October 6. Those reports corroborate a price on that date, not current stock or a price that remains available.

What the QM8L offers
Mini-LED picture and HDR
The QM8L supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The October 6 deal article said PCMag measured peak brightness of 3,504 nits on the 65QM8L and contrasted that with TCL’s advertised 6,000-nit peak. That measurement is reported secondhand here; it has not been independently verified against PCMag’s underlying review. TCL’s descriptions of Deep Color and Enhanced Halo Control are manufacturer claims, not independent test findings.
Google TV and voice controls
TCL identifies Google TV as the smart-TV platform, and the deal article highlights Gemini voice controls. The available product information does not establish which voice-control features or Gemini capabilities are available in every region or software version.

Gaming connections and refresh rate
The deal article reports a native 144Hz refresh rate, variable refresh rate (VRR), and four HDMI 2.1 inputs that accept 4K at 144Hz. RTINGS independently describes the QM8L as a high-refresh-rate TV with HDMI 2.1 bandwidth on all four HDMI inputs. Check the official specification sheet or the exact regional listing for detailed format support before relying on a particular console or PC setup.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesBuilt-in audio
The set is described as having Bang & Olufsen audio and Dolby Atmos. The deal article’s assessment is that its built-in sound may suit some viewers, while a dedicated surround system can deliver deeper bass and more directional effects. That is not a comparative audio test; a soundbar or home-theater system is an optional upgrade rather than a requirement.

How strong is the deal claim?
The 57% figure is based on the reported $1,077.99 Amazon price compared with the $2,499.99 launch-price reference—not a comparison with TCL’s separately displayed $1,399.99 price. The October 6 reports support that historical offer, but the Amazon listing was not directly confirmed. CNET’s 8.8/10 rating and its reviewer’s reported description of the set as the best TV they had tested in 2026 also appear in the deal article; the underlying CNET review was not accessible for verification here.
Before purchasing, open the Amazon listing for model 65QM8L and confirm the price, seller, stock, shipping, and any promotion terms. Retail prices and availability can change, and the reported October offer may have ended.

- It may fit: buyers seeking a 65-inch 4K TV with Mini-LED, HDR-format support, and gaming features including high refresh rate, VRR, and four HDMI 2.1 inputs.
- Check first: whether 65 inches suits the room, whether the live price is attractive against current alternatives, and whether the exact inputs and formats meet your devices’ needs.
- Plan separately if needed: viewers who prioritize deep bass or immersive directional sound may want dedicated audio, but the available evidence does not establish that an add-on is necessary.
