The TCL QM7L Pro is a good pick if you have several high-bandwidth devices and watch in a bright room. It is a weaker pick if you play fast games, sit off to the side, or want accurate colors without calibrating. RTINGS describes it as a Costco-exclusive variant of the standard QM7L. The Pro has four HDMI 2.1 ports instead of two, and it uses the TSR AI Pro Processor also found in the QM8L. This article covers the 65-, 75-, 85- and 98-inch sizes. RTINGS also lists a 55-inch Pro, which is outside our scope.
What you get with the Pro
RTINGS tested the 65-inch Pro and says the results apply to the 75-, 85- and 98-inch versions. Its review was published September 2, 2026, and the test bench was updated October 2, 2026, using what it labels “Methodology v2.3”. The review has these headline findings:

- Strengths: deep blacks, vibrant color, punchy HDR highlights in a dark room, and enough brightness to push through indirect glare in many bright rooms.
- Gaming support: 4K at 144Hz, 1080p at 288Hz, VRR and low input lag. Whether you get these modes still depends on your source device and the game.
- Weaknesses: slow pixel transitions that cause noticeable motion blur, a warm, reddish SDR picture out of the box, mirror-like reflections from direct light, and picture quality that drops quickly off-angle.
The TCL support pages we found cover the standard QM7L, not the Pro. We therefore take Pro-specific claims from the RTINGS Pro review.

Pro vs. standard QM7L
“Pro” does not mean better at everything. According to RTINGS, the trade is as follows:
#1 Best Overall
- SQD-Mini LED: As the ultimate Mini LED TV, it integrates the expansive TCL Deep Color System with the breakthrough TCL Halo Control System to ensure the most brilliant, pure, and immersive viewing experience possible.
- TCL Ultra Color Filter: TCL’s Ultra Color Filter with fine 5 nanometer particles (vs. standard 60 nanometer particles) bring every scene to life with pinpoint, pixel-perfect color accuracy.
- HVA 2.0 Pro Panel: The HVA 2.0 Pro Panel provides a stunning picture in nearly any environment with the high contrast, anti-reflective panel.
- Up to LD2100 Precise Dimming Series: Up to LD2100 Precise Dimming Series provides pure black levels with up to 2,100+ precisely controlled discrete local dimming zones.
- AIPQ Pro Processor: Harnessing the power of AI to finely control Picture Clarity, Contrast, Color, Motion, Upscaling, and Backlighting, all dynamically, based on the incoming video signal.
| Area | Pro advantage | Standard QM7L advantage |
|---|---|---|
| HDMI 2.1 ports | Four | Two |
| Upscaling and cleanup of low-quality content | Better | — |
| HDR accuracy | Better, thanks to processing | — |
| Game Master HDR brightness | — | Higher |
| Reflection handling | — | Better |
| Contrast | — | Better |
| SDR accuracy | — | Better |
Choose the Pro if you connect a console, a gaming PC, a streaming box and a receiver, and want enough HDMI 2.1 inputs without an external switch. If you use one or two sources and care most about contrast, glare control and SDR color, the standard model may suit you better. The choice then comes down to what Costco charges for each.
Picture quality
Bright rooms
RTINGS says the Pro’s brightness overcomes glare from indirect light in many bright rooms. A window or lamp directly facing the screen can still produce mirror-like reflections. The standard QM7L handles reflections better, so a sunny room with a poorly placed window is a reason to weigh that model.

Dark-room HDR
Deep blacks, vibrant color and bright highlights make it good for movies after dark. RTINGS found HDR color accuracy good out of the box. Some HDR scenes can still look too bright or too dark, and HDR calibration options are limited.

SDR color accuracy
Out of the box, SDR looks overly warm, with a red tint. RTINGS suggests calibration if accuracy matters to you. Most casual viewers may not mind. Calibration may not fix every limitation.

Viewing angle
Picture quality falls off quickly from the side. This matters for wide sofas, open-plan rooms and sports gatherings. It is also the main reason to think carefully about screen size and seating layout.
Gaming
On paper the Pro is a strong gaming TV: four HDMI 2.1 ports, 4K/144Hz, 1080p/288Hz, VRR and low input lag. The catch is pixel response. RTINGS reports slow pixel transitions that cause noticeable motion blur, especially in fast-paced games. Low input lag means the TV reacts quickly to your input. It does not mean fast-moving objects look sharp. Competitive players who value clarity should weigh this seriously. Players of slower, cinematic games will care less.

To use the high-refresh modes you need a source that outputs them. If you add a new 4K/144Hz device, an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable is the sensible choice. Check your existing cables before buying anything.
Sports and everyday TV
For sports, RTINGS found the Pro usable in bright rooms and good at cleaning up and upscaling low-quality feeds. It also saw soft edges and artifacts around fast-moving players and balls. The narrow viewing angle is a problem if guests sit far to the sides.

How it compares with rivals
- Hisense U7SG: RTINGS says the Hisense handles reflections better with its matte coating and shows less motion blur. The TCL has slightly better color volume.
- TCL QM8L: RTINGS says the QM8L is brighter and has better SDR accuracy, while the Pro is more accurate in HDR out of the box. The QM8L has the same processor as the Pro.
- Standard QM7L: see the table above.
Which size to choose
RTINGS reports these dimming-zone counts. They are RTINGS’ table values, not an official TCL size-by-size Pro spec sheet.
| Size | Dimming zones (RTINGS) |
|---|---|
| 65-inch | 1,152 |
| 75-inch | 1,352 |
| 85-inch | 1,624 |
| 98-inch | 2,176 |
The 65-inch is the model RTINGS actually tested, so its findings carry the most certainty. The larger sizes are assumed to behave similarly. The 98-inch is the largest model and has the most zones, but it needs a large wall and room. Because picture quality drops off-angle, a bigger screen seen from a wide seating arc will show more of that weakness at the edges. Measure your space and seating before choosing, and compare per-size prices.
Price and availability
We have not verified current Costco prices or stock for the Pro sizes, and they change often. Check each size at Costco before deciding. TCL’s North American launch MSRPs for the standard QM7L (2026) were $1,199.99 for 55-inch, $1,499.99 for 65-inch, $1,999.99 for 75-inch, $2,499.99 for 85-inch and $3,999.99 for 98-inch. These are launch prices for the standard model and do not tell you what the Pro costs now. Before you buy, confirm the listing is the Pro variant and the size you want.

This verdict rests mainly on one detailed professional review of the 65-inch Pro. We found no sales statistics or TCL spokesperson commentary on the Pro. A separate Tom’s Guide review of the standard 75-inch QM7L measured about 2,270 nits of HDR peak brightness (10% window) and 9.4 ms input latency. Those are standard-model results for one sample, so they are not Pro specifications.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Buy the QM7L Pro for the four HDMI 2.1 ports, the stronger processing and a bright, high-contrast picture in mixed lighting. Skip it if fast-motion clarity, wide seating or out-of-the-box SDR accuracy matter most. Check the price against the standard QM7L, QM8L and Hisense U7SG first.
