The 2023 US 65-inch TCL Q7, model 65Q750G, is a bright 4K QLED TV with strong contrast, local dimming and useful gaming features. Its strongest case is for viewers who want punchy HDR and high-refresh gaming without moving up TCL’s 2023 QM8 line. Its weaker points are only decent reflection handling, image-accuracy concerns and PC gaming quirks. In particular, its advertised “Game Accelerator 240” should not be mistaken for native 4K at 240Hz.
What the TCL Q7 65Q750G is
This review concerns the US 65Q750G, a 65-inch model in TCL’s 2023 Q7 series. TCL describes it as a Q Class 4K QLED HDR Google TV. The model number matters: TCL has used similar Q-series names in later product generations, and the findings here are for the 2023 Q7 rather than a newer TV with a similar name. TCL’s 65Q750G product page lists the manufacturer’s features and specifications.

RTINGS says it purchased and tested the 65Q750G; its review findings are also described as applicable to the 55-, 75- and 85-inch sizes, with some physical differences between sizes. The review was updated November 7, 2024, and its writing modified April 14, 2025. RTINGS flags that its results use an older test bench, predating a major methodology update, so its scores should not be compared casually with newer reviews.
Picture quality: bright, high contrast, but not flawless
RTINGS characterizes the Q7 as bright and reports strong contrast and black uniformity. Full Array PRO local dimming is central to its dark-scene performance: the set can dim parts of the screen rather than relying on a single backlight level. RTINGS lists 160 dimming zones for the tested 65-inch size. TCL markets the series as having “up to 200+” zones, but that broader maximum is not the confirmed count for this size.

- 4K UltraHD Resolution: Experience incredible detail with 4X the resolution of 1080p Full HDTVs
- QLED (Quantum Dot Technology): Rich, vibrant colors covering nearly the entire DCI-P3 color space to bring images to lifeQLED – Quantum Dot Technology: Rich, vibrant colors covering nearly the entire DCI-P3 color space to bring images to life
- 144Hz Panel Refresh Rate: Watch action-packed movies, fast-paced video games, and live sports with an ultra-smooth viewing experience, free of motion blur
- TCL AIPQ Pro Processor: Powerful, advanced processor that intelligently optimizes the color, contrast, and clarity for an unrivaled 4K HDR experience
- Dolby Atmos Audio: Advanced spatial audio processing can be found in movies, TV shows, and video games.
Brightness helps HDR images look vivid, but the Q7 is not a perfect bright-room choice. RTINGS found its reflection handling decent, not exceptional, so direct light or a bright window can still distract. It also noted image-accuracy concerns. If faithful color and a consistent, carefully calibrated picture matter most, factor those points in rather than judging the set by brightness alone.
TCL lists a 120Hz panel, 4K resolution, Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+. Those are manufacturer-listed specifications and format claims, not independent measurements of picture quality. The mix of HDR formats is useful when matching the TV to content and source devices, but it does not by itself establish how accurately every title will look.

- HDR PRO+: Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 & HLG for enhanced contrast, accurate color, and fine detail across every format

Gaming: strong headline features, with PC-specific caveats
TCL advertises FreeSync Premium Pro, VRR up to 144Hz and Game Accelerator 240. The “240” label is not a claim of native 4K/240Hz panel operation: the panel is listed at 120Hz, VRR is advertised up to 144Hz, and RTINGS describes 240Hz operation at 1080p for a supported PC configuration.
For the tested connections, RTINGS reports these maximum modes:
Rank #3
- QD-MINI LED | BRIGHT WHERE IT SHOULD BE, DARK WHERE IT SHOULDN'T: Get the deep blacks and precise contrast shoppers expect from a premium display, plus the high brightness Mini LED is known for. Up to 500 local dimming zones with TCL Halo Control Technology precisely control the backlight to reduce unwanted blooming around bright objects. The result is bright highlights, deeper blacks and greater contrast, without the burn-in concern associated with premium displays
- NATIVE 144Hz | BUILT FOR GAMING + SPORTS: Looking for a gaming TV or a better TV for sports? Native 144Hz, Motion Rate 480, VRR, ALLM and Game Accelerator deliver smooth, responsive gameplay and clearer fast-moving action. Follow the ball, catch every play or jump into high-speed gaming with greater motion clarity and responsiveness
- ONKYO 2.1 + BUILT-IN SUBWOOFER | HOME THEATER SOUND: Turn your living room into a home theater with Onkyo 2.1 audio and a 20W subwoofer for deeper bass, clearer dialogue and fuller sound. Dolby Atmos and dedicated DTS add immersive audio for movies, gaming, sports and streaming. With powerful sound built right into the TV, adding a soundbar is optional
- BEZEL-LESS DESIGN | MORE SCREEN, LESS FRAME: Make your entertainment feel bigger. The thin, bezel-less design minimizes the frame around the picture for a more immersive big-screen experience. Whether you're watching movies, streaming shows, sports or gaming, more of what you see is the picture, not the frame
- 1.07 BILLION COLORS + AiPQ PRO | BETTER PICTURE FOR MOVIES + STREAMING: A bigger screen should make your entertainment better, not just bigger. Enhanced QLED Color delivers up to 1.07 billion colors with a wide color gamut, while TCL's AiPQ Pro Processor intelligently optimizes color, contrast and clarity for movies, streaming, sports and games
| Input | Reported maximum modes | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| HDMI 1 | 4K/144Hz, 1440p/144Hz or 1080p/240Hz | RTINGS says Game Master is required for rates above 120Hz. |
| HDMI 2 | 4K/120Hz | RTINGS’ reported maximum for this input. |
These are reviewer findings from tested configurations, not a guarantee that every PC and setup will negotiate every mode. RTINGS also reports that NVIDIA graphics cards have trouble using VRR above 120Hz, unlike AMD Radeon cards, and notes a 4:4:4 chroma limitation at 4K/120Hz. Since GPU, input selection and settings affect results, verify the behavior with your own hardware before buying specifically for a high-refresh PC setup.
RTINGS reports very low input lag, which is favorable for responsive play. Still, refresh-rate labels alone do not settle whether the Q7 is right for a particular gaming desk or console: check the source device’s output modes, the HDMI input you plan to use and whether you need high-refresh VRR above 120Hz.

How it compares with the Q6, QM8 and Hisense U7N
In RTINGS’ TCL lineup context, the Q7 sits above the 2023 Q6/Q650G and below the 2023 QM8/QM850G. RTINGS’ Q6-versus-Q7 comparison says the Q7 has more gaming features, better support for advanced audio formats, substantially better contrast through local dimming, and higher HDR and SDR peak brightness.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsRTINGS also names the 2024 Hisense U7N as a similar-price alternative in its comparison context, describing that set as more stable and consistent overall. That is not a current price check or a universal ranking: prices and availability change, and RTINGS’ Q7 results use an older test bench. Compare current local offers and recent reviews before treating either set as the better value today.
Who should consider the 65Q750G?
- Consider it if you want a bright 4K TV with strong contrast, local dimming, low reported input lag and high-refresh gaming features.
- Look more closely at alternatives if the TV will face strong reflections, you prioritize image accuracy, or you need a PC setup that reliably uses VRR above 120Hz with an NVIDIA card.
- Check the exact configuration if 4K/120Hz, 4K/144Hz or 1080p/240Hz is a deciding requirement. Match the source device, GPU, HDMI input and settings to the mode you intend to use.
For a present-day purchase decision, compare current local price, stock and warranty terms. Those can change the value equation, and no current retailer price or availability is established here. The TCL product page and RTINGS review support comparisons of picture, gaming and format features; they do not resolve today’s market-specific deal.
