1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe Australian TCL 65C6L looks well equipped on paper: it is a 65-inch 4K QD-Mini LED TV with 180 local-dimming zones, four HDMI 2.1 inputs and support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG. Its gaming specification includes 4K at 144Hz and a conditional 1080p at 288Hz mode. Those features do not establish how bright, well-controlled or responsive the TV is in practice: accessible evidence does not provide independent measurements of this exact model. Whether it is a good buy therefore depends on its current Australian price and on the performance evidence you can verify before purchase.
What this review covers
This is the Australian 65-inch TCL 65C6L, part of TCL Australia’s C6L QD-Mini LED range, which also comes in 55-, 75- and 85-inch sizes. It is not the C6K or a similarly named model sold in another market. Features and specifications can differ by region, so check the Australian model suffix and seller listing. TCL’s Australian C6L product page and 65C6L specification sheet are the basis for the specifications below.

What the TCL 65C6L offers on paper
4K panel and local dimming
TCL lists a 3840 × 2160 resolution, QD-Mini LED backlight with local dimming, and 180 local-dimming zones for the 65-inch configuration. The number of zones alone cannot predict black levels, blooming around subtitles or bright objects, shadow detail, or screen uniformity. Those depend on how the panel and dimming system perform in real scenes.

- QLED (Quantum Dot Technology): Rich, vibrant colors covering nearly the entire DCI-P3 color space to bring images to lifeQLED – Quantum Dot Technology: Rich, vibrant colors covering nearly the entire DCI-P3 color space to bring images to life
- 144Hz Panel Refresh Rate: Watch action-packed movies, fast-paced video games, and live sports with an ultra-smooth viewing experience, free of motion blur
- TCL AIPQ Pro Processor: Powerful, advanced processor that intelligently optimizes the color, contrast, and clarity for an unrivaled 4K HDR experience
- Dolby Atmos Audio: Advanced spatial audio processing can be found in movies, TV shows, and video games.
HDR formats and colour claim
The Australian specification sheet lists HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. TCL’s product page claims up to 93% DCI-P3 colour coverage, attributing the figure to its laboratories and noting that results may vary. That is manufacturer data, not an independent measurement of this set. Format support and a colour-coverage claim do not by themselves tell you how accurately the TV maps HDR highlights or how bright it gets.
Refresh rates and gaming connections
TCL lists 144Hz VRR (48–288Hz) and 288Hz DLG. Its product page describes “native 4K at 144Hz and 1080p at 288Hz”; the 288Hz mode requires a supported mode and compatible device and content. The top figure is therefore not 4K at 288Hz, and the listed specifications do not verify that every source or HDMI configuration can use each mode.
The sheet lists four HDMI 2.1/HDCP 2.2 inputs and HDMI eARC. For a PC gamer, the headline refresh-rate modes are worth checking against the graphics card, connection, resolution and game. Console output capabilities differ from PC capabilities. The available evidence does not establish input lag, chroma or text clarity, or measured VRR, ALLM and FreeSync behaviour.
Smart TV, ports and wireless
The TV runs Google TV and is listed with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Its listed connections and wireless features include:

TCL cautions that some features may require software updates. The sheet does not establish how quickly the interface responds, which apps are available in Australia, or how easy setup is.
Audio and support details
The listed audio system is two 10W speakers, with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X. These specifications do not tell you how clear dialogue is, how much bass the speakers produce, or how convincing their sound is. HDMI eARC is available for connecting compatible audio equipment, but the available information does not establish that an external soundbar is necessary.
TCL’s sheet lists a three-year warranty and four years of product software support. Confirm the warranty terms, what starts the coverage period and the applicable support details in the Australian documentation and with the seller; these figures should not be assumed to apply outside Australia. TCL also notes that specifications can change and some features may require a software update.

There is not enough accessible exact-model evidence to give the 65C6L a measured picture-quality or gaming verdict. The CHOICE listing is titled “TCL 65C6L review,” but its substantive test results were not available to assess. The CHOICE review page should not be treated as evidence for a particular score or result unless the full report is available.

- 4K UltraHD QLED color: Quantum Dot technology delivers over a billion vibrant, true-to-life shades in every scene
- HDR PRO+: Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 & HLG for enhanced contrast, accurate color, and fine detail across every format

- Motion Rate 240 with MEMC: Best-in-class motion clarity for fast sports and action, double the motion rating of typical competing QLEDs, for an ultra-crisp, blur-free picture
Before treating the feature list as a reason to buy, look for independent tests of the exact Australian model covering:
- HDR: peak and sustained brightness, tone mapping in Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG, and results across relevant picture modes.
- Dimming and panel behaviour: blooming, black levels, shadow detail and uniformity in dark scenes.
- Gaming: which inputs and device combinations support 4K/144Hz and 1080p/288Hz, plus input lag, VRR and text clarity at common settings.
- Sport and motion: broadcast upscaling, fast pans and any artifacts from motion interpolation.
- Room suitability: reflections, off-axis contrast and performance in bright and dark rooms.
- Everyday use: Australian app availability, interface responsiveness, setup, voice controls and sound quality.
Do not substitute results for the C6K, a predecessor or a model from another region: those are different products, not evidence of how this 65C6L performs.

Retailer prices are snapshots, not a stable market average. At the time the listings were checked, Costco Australia listed the 65C6L at A$1,499.99 including delivery. The Good Guys listed it at A$1,595 with a promotion ending 7 October 2026. These are historical listing details, not a guarantee of today’s price, stock or best available offer. Check the live total, delivery, installation, returns and warranty terms before ordering.
TCL says a wall bracket is not included. Costco’s listing gives a 400 × 400 mm VESA pattern. Before buying a mount, confirm the pattern, screw size and clearance against the TV manual, and make sure the mount suits the wall material and TV load.

How much weight to give owner reviews
The Good Guys listing showed 4.5 stars from six customer reviews, with 83% recommending the TV at the time it was checked. That is a small retailer-hosted sample, and some reviews may be incentivised; it is not controlled performance testing. The comments included one buyer who said apps needed setup and another who praised picture and sound. Treat both as individual experiences, not representative findings.
Who should consider the 65C6L?
The specification sheet makes the 65C6L worth considering if you want a 65-inch 4K TV with local dimming, several mainstream HDR formats and multiple HDMI 2.1 inputs. The 144Hz VRR listing may also appeal to PC gamers who can use a compatible setup. But these features establish what TCL says the TV supports, not whether its picture, motion, gaming response or interface is competitive at the price.
For a buying decision, compare the current Australian price with exact-model independent testing and alternatives available for the same amount. If you cannot find trustworthy measurements, weigh the uncertainty against the retailer’s return terms and your tolerance for buying on specifications alone.
