T-Mobile phone promotions are not confirmed to be universally replaced by “Picks.” An October 1, 2026 report describes a proposed T-Mix system where a customer’s plan tier and number of lines determine how many Picks they receive, then they can use them toward some phone deals or account benefits. T-Mobile’s published plan page describes device promotions and plan-specific upgrade terms, but does not confirm the reported Picks rules.
What are T-Mobile Picks?
According to The Mobile Report’s October 1, 2026 article, T-Mobile’s proposed T-Mix plans would allocate “Picks” according to plan tier and line count. Customers could then spend Picks on certain phone promotions or account benefits. The report gives example allocations for T-Mix Standard, More, and Loaded, and describes higher-value phone offers as costing more Picks than lower-value ones.

Those are reported examples, not published carrier terms. The official T-Mobile plan and promotion page reviewed describes phone financing and bill credits but does not verify T-Mix or Picks. A secondary review also notes that the reported system and perk costs are not confirmed in T-Mobile’s published plan terms. Treat Picks as a reported proposal, not a settled change to every customer’s phone deals.

The reported system would make promotions compete for a limited allocation: using Picks for an account benefit could leave fewer available for a phone offer, depending on the final rules. That trade-off is potentially important for households, since the reported allocation varies with both plan tier and line count. But no fixed cash value for a Pick is established, so it is not possible to calculate whether one use is “worth” more than another from the reporting alone.

The October 1 report leaves several practical details unresolved: whether Picks are deducted when redeemed, how long a redemption lasts, and what happens if a customer later wants a phone promotion after choosing a benefit. It also says the impact on legacy plans was unknown at publication. No official T-Mobile statement or published policy explaining those rules was verified in the sources reviewed.
Does T-Mobile still offer phone promotions?
T-Mobile’s current plan page describes eligible smartphone promotions using an equipment installment plan (EIP) and monthly bill credits. The offer available to a customer can depend on the specific plan and promotion; check the live terms rather than assuming every deal applies to every line or account. Review the eligible trade-in model and condition, whether a new line or port is required, the credit amount and duration, and whether early payoff or account changes affect the credits.

What should customers check before choosing a plan or promotion?
Compare the whole offer, not just the advertised phone discount. For a household, weigh the total monthly service cost for its number of lines against the exact phone offers available on the plan. Then check the trade-in requirements, any new-line or port-in requirement, the bill-credit schedule, and the effect of paying off the device or changing the account. If an alternative benefit is involved, compare its confirmed value and duration with the phone offer.
Until T-Mobile publishes applicable Picks terms, do not assign Picks a dollar value or assume they replace all phone promotions. If you prefer to buy a phone separately, compare unlocked models and verify the device, seller, network compatibility, and unlocked status; a separate purchase should not be assumed to qualify for T-Mobile bill credits.
