Sword Hero is an unreleased open-world RPG planned for Windows PC through Steam. The game has no announced release date, is being built as a single-player experience without planned online multiplayer, and is designed around demanding combat against enemies that do not scale to your level. Steam lists full controller support and Steam Cloud, but the developer is still refining saving and loading, so detailed save-slot and transfer behavior is not final.
What is Sword Hero?
Sword Hero is an action, indie and role-playing game from ForestWare, published by Crytivo. The official site presents it as an open-world RPG set in a low-poly dark-fantasy world. Its design centers on a seamless wilderness, deliberate combat and exploration where preparation matters more than following a level-scaled route.

The project is still in development. Steam currently shows the release date as “To be announced,” which means there is no confirmed launch day or guaranteed early-access schedule to plan around. The store page should therefore be treated as a statement of the current target, not proof that a finished version can be downloaded today.
Which platforms will run Sword Hero?
Windows PC is the documented launch target
The only confirmed platform is Windows PC through Steam. The Steam listing names Windows 10 as the minimum operating system. No macOS, Linux, PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo version is confirmed in the available developer and store information, so a console release should not be assumed.

- PRECISION PERFORMANCE — Stay on target with a hybrid D-pad and textured grips on triggers, bumpers, and back case for improved accuracy and handling.
- SHARE BUTTON: Seamlessly capture and share content such as screenshots, recordings, and more with the new Share button.
- VERSATILE CONNECTIVITY — Connect via USB-C for plug-and-play on console and PC, or quickly pair and switch between supported devices with XBOX Wireless and Bluetooth support.
- BUILT-IN AUDIO SUPPORT — Plug in compatible headsets using the 3.5mm audio jack for direct voice chat and immersive in-game sound.
The official site links visitors to Steam for wishlisting, reinforcing PC as the current distribution plan. Because the game remains unreleased, the final operating-system support and any additional storefronts could still change, but there is no published evidence of another platform at present.
Published PC requirements
| Item | Steam listing | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 minimum | Windows 10 is the stated baseline; newer Windows versions are not separately specified. |
| Memory | 4 GB minimum; 8 GB recommended | These are the only published memory figures and may be revised before release. |
| Processor | Not stated | Steam has not published a minimum or recommended CPU. |
| Graphics | Not stated | No minimum or recommended GPU, graphics API or video-memory figure is listed. |
Do not use the missing CPU and GPU information to judge whether a particular laptop will run the game. Until those fields are filled in, the sensible preparation is to keep Windows and graphics drivers current and check the final Steam requirements when a playable build is released.
Controller and Steam features
Steam lists full controller support. The alpha roadmap says controller prompts support Xbox and PlayStation button icons, so a compatible gamepad is an option rather than a requirement. Keyboard-and-mouse support is not described in the cited material, and the game should not be presented as requiring a controller.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe store page also lists Steam Achievements, Steam Workshop, Steam Cloud, Steam Leaderboards and Family Sharing. These entries describe intended Steam features; they do not establish how every feature will work in the final build. For example, a Steam Cloud listing does not by itself document the number of save slots or the exact synchronization rules.

How difficult is Sword Hero?
Expect a demanding opening
The official Steam description warns that the wilderness is “unkind to the unprepared.” That language points to a game that expects players to learn combat, judge threats and prepare before pushing into dangerous areas. It is not presented as a relaxed mode where every encounter automatically matches the player.
No numeric difficulty selector is documented. There is no published list of Easy, Normal, Hard or equivalent presets, and no accessibility preset has been announced in the available material. Avoid assuming that a menu will let you lower enemy damage or increase player health.
Enemies do not scale to your level
Sword Hero’s enemies are described as non-level-scaling. A creature that overwhelms a new character is intended to remain a serious obstacle until the player improves through training, equipment and character growth. Conversely, returning later with a stronger character can change the encounter dramatically.
The store description adds an unusual behavioral detail: enemies that defeat the player early can later run from a stronger character. That suggests progression is meant to be visible in the world rather than represented only by a number on a character sheet. It also means that retreating from a fight is a legitimate decision, not necessarily a failure of the game’s balance.

It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
What the design means for new players
- Scout before committing. The seamless world and organic obstacles imply that an unexplored route may contain threats your current character cannot handle.
- Use progression deliberately. Training, equipment and character growth are the stated ways to turn an overwhelming enemy into a manageable one.
- Do not expect level-based safety. A quest or destination does not become safe simply because it is nearby; the world’s creatures are not described as scaling to your level.
- Read defeat as information. Because enemy behavior and relative strength can change over time, an early loss can tell you when to return rather than requiring a permanent restart.
These are design implications, not promises of a particular tutorial, checkpoint system or accessibility option. The developer has not published numerical damage values, enemy tiers or a formal difficulty chart.
Does Sword Hero have multiplayer or co-op?
Online multiplayer is not planned
The developer FAQ gives a direct answer: “No, since I’m a solo dev, attempting something like online features would be a tremendous risk for the entire project.” The same response says the goal is “a complete, solid single-player experience.” Steam also labels Sword Hero as single-player.
Accordingly, do not buy or wishlist the game expecting online co-op, competitive multiplayer, cross-play or a shared persistent world. None of those modes is part of the current plan.

Split-screen co-op is only a possibility
The FAQ leaves open the idea of split-screen co-op if stretch goals make it feasible. That is a conditional possibility, not a confirmed feature or launch promise. It should not be used as a reason to plan a two-player campaign until the developer announces an implementation and explains its limits.

The current multiplayer answer therefore has two parts: the planned product is single-player, while local split-screen could be reconsidered only if development goals and resources allow it.
Does Sword Hero support cloud saves?
Steam Cloud is listed, but the implementation is still being refined
Steam includes Steam Cloud in the feature list. Separately, the alpha roadmap says: “Saving/Loading is already mostly possible, however the process needs some unbloating, and refinement as I’ll be adding other new features.” Together, those statements show that save/load exists in a substantially working form while the surrounding process remains under development.
Because the game is not final, the Steam Cloud entry should be treated as a listed target rather than a complete technical specification. The available sources do not state how many save slots will exist, whether saving is manual, automatic or both, when synchronization occurs, or how conflicts are resolved.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →What is not documented yet
- Number of local or cloud save slots
- Manual-save and autosave rules
- Whether every alpha build preserves saves across updates
- Cloud-conflict prompts and restoration behavior
- Cross-device restoration details
- Transfer of saves between PC and any future console version
Until those policies are published, avoid treating Steam Cloud as a substitute for a separate backup. If an early build exposes a local save folder or an export option, follow the developer’s instructions for that specific version rather than copying files blindly; the roadmap indicates that save systems may change as new features are added.

What to check when the game launches
- Open the Steam game properties and confirm that Steam Cloud is enabled for the title.
- Launch the game once and look for its documented save or load screen before beginning a long session.
- After quitting, verify that Steam reports synchronization completed before moving to another computer.
- If Steam displays a cloud conflict, read the timestamps and choose the newer file only when you are sure it contains the progress you want.
- Check the developer’s current patch notes before major updates, since save-format changes can affect older builds.
These are prudent checks for a listed cloud feature, not a claim that every menu or prompt already exists in the unreleased build.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is Sword Hero available yet?
No finished Steam release is available according to the current listing. The date remains “To be announced,” and the project is still described through an alpha roadmap. Wishlisting on Steam is the documented way to follow availability, but a wishlist entry is not an early-access license or a release reservation.
Availability can change as development progresses. Until ForestWare or Crytivo posts a launch announcement, there is no confirmed price, early-access date, final system-requirements sheet or console timetable to report.
Can you play Sword Hero on a console?
No console edition has been announced in the available information. The documented target is Windows PC via Steam, with full controller support for people who prefer a gamepad. Controller compatibility should not be confused with an Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo port: it describes input devices on the confirmed PC platform.
If a console version is announced later, its save transfer, feature parity and release timing would need separate confirmation. Nothing currently establishes cross-platform progression or cross-play.
How Sword Hero compares with a typical level-scaled RPG
| Question | Sword Hero’s documented position | Practical consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Where can you play? | Windows PC through Steam | Plan around a PC installation; no console version is confirmed. |
| How is challenge handled? | Non-level-scaling enemies; no published difficulty-mode list | Preparation, skill and returning later matter more than selecting a preset. |
| Is multiplayer included? | Single-player; no online features planned | Expect a solo campaign rather than online or cross-play sessions. |
| Is co-op possible? | Split-screen mentioned only as a potential stretch goal | Do not treat local co-op as a confirmed launch feature. |
| How are saves handled? | Save/load mostly works and is being refined; Steam Cloud is listed | Cloud support is expected, but slot counts and transfer rules remain unknown. |
Bottom line for prospective players
Sword Hero is best understood as a PC-only, single-player open-world RPG in development, with a deliberately unforgiving world rather than selectable difficulty tiers. The confirmed information supports Windows 10, 4 GB minimum memory and 8 GB recommended memory, full controller support, and a Steam feature set that includes Cloud. It does not yet support a firm release date, console purchase decision, online co-op plan or detailed save-transfer guarantee.
That makes the practical decision straightforward: wishlist it if you want a solo, skill-focused dark-fantasy RPG and are comfortable waiting for development to finish. Recheck the Steam page and developer announcements before launch for final hardware requirements, the release status, the exact save workflow and any change to the tentative split-screen idea.
