Nintendo’s official price for the Japanese-language, Japan-only model is ¥59,980, effective May 25, 2026; that is the post-increase MSRP, not a verified deal price.
What is known about the reported Japan deal?
An October 6, 2026 report describes a new post-price-hike low in Japan. Its available indexed text does not identify the retailer or the temporary price, so neither detail can be confirmed here. The headline indicates a retailer offer, but it is not enough to tell buyers what they would pay or where to find it.

Nintendo announced that the Japanese-language, Japan-only Switch 2’s MSRP rose from ¥49,980 to ¥59,980 on May 25, 2026. Nintendo also said the price of the multilingual version sold through My Nintendo Store would not change in that revision. The reported low should not be confused with either official price.
How did Nintendo’s announced prices change by region?
| Region and model context | Announced price change | Effective date and tax treatment |
|---|---|---|
| Japan: Japanese-language, Japan-only Switch 2 | ¥49,980 to ¥59,980 | May 25, 2026; tax treatment not stated in Nintendo’s announcement |
| United States | $449.99 to $499.99 | September 1, 2026; Nintendo labels US prices before tax |
| Europe: My Nintendo Store | €469.99 to €499.99 | September 1, 2026; Nintendo labels European prices tax included |
These are announced regional prices, not a like-for-like comparison of temporary retailer promotions. Model availability and tax conventions differ, so a price in one market does not establish the value or availability of an offer in another. Nintendo’s price announcement provides the regional details.

Is the UK price the same deal?
No. TechRadar reported on October 5, 2026 that Amazon UK and several other retailers offered the console for £354.99, compared with a UK RRP of £419.99, and described £354.99 as matching Amazon UK’s lowest price for the console. That is a separate UK comparison, not evidence of the Japanese promotion. Prices and stock can change; check the live listing, seller, and regional model before buying. TechRadar’s UK deal report covers that offer.
What about Nintendo’s November Japan bundle?
Nintendo announced a separate Japanese-language, Japan-only Switch 2 choose-your-game bundle for November 12, 2026, priced at ¥63,980. Buyers can select one downloadable game: Mario Kart World, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, or Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. It is a future bundle announcement, not the temporary low described in the October 6 report. Nintendo’s bundle announcement lists the bundle and game choices.

What should buyers verify before acting on a regional price?
- Region and system language: Confirm whether the listing is for the Japanese-language, Japan-only model or a multilingual version, and check what language and regional restrictions matter for your use.
- Price type: Distinguish Nintendo’s official MSRP from a temporary retailer price and confirm whether tax is included.
- Seller and stock: Check who is selling the console, whether it is in stock, and whether the offer still appears at checkout.
- What is included: Confirm whether software is bundled. The November Japan bundle is a distinct product offer, not proof of what the October deal includes.
Until a retailer listing or a fuller report confirms the Japan promotion’s price and seller, those particulars remain unresolved.
