Super Mario Bros. Wonder has reportedly been made to run natively on a Windows PC without an emulator, but this is an unofficial project—not a Nintendo PC release. In Notebookcheck’s October 5, 2026 report, the project’s repository was still private and a public release was only planned. The reports cited here do not establish whether Nintendo knows about the project or has responded to it.
Is Super Mario Bros. Wonder coming to PC?
Nintendo’s official developer interview identifies Super Mario Bros. Wonder as a Nintendo Switch game: Nintendo’s interview with the development team. The PC effort described in October 2026 coverage is unofficial. It is evidence of a reported Windows demonstration, not an announced or supported PC edition.

That distinction matters: an unofficial project does not make the game available through Nintendo for Windows, and purchasing the Switch game does not grant access to the PC project.

According to Notebookcheck’s account of the demonstration and developer statements, the approach recompiles the game code ahead of runtime into C++ and uses a graphics translation layer to map Nintendo’s NVN graphics work to Vulkan. Notebookcheck says the method does not use an emulator, just-in-time compilation, or an interpreter. DSOGaming’s October 1 report also describes native PC code and custom NVN-to-Vulkan graphics handling.

Notebookcheck additionally describes an ASTC texture decoder and cache and multithreading measures intended to reduce stutter. These are reported implementation details, not an independent technical audit of the project.
What performance did the reported demonstration show?
Notebookcheck reported the Windows demonstration running at roughly 60 frames per second on an RTX 3050 laptop, with minor graphical glitches and occasional frame-rate drops. That is one reported setup, not a benchmark across PCs or a minimum-specification guide; it cannot establish how the project would perform on another computer.
Notebookcheck also reproduced developer Belmante’s comment about a planned integrated-GPU test: “it’s in the same class as the Switch’s own Tegra X1, so it’s a good test of how light this can run.” This is the developer’s rationale for a planned test, not a published result showing that the game runs on integrated graphics.

Is the PC project available to download?
The reports do not establish a public download. DSOGaming reported on October 1, 2026, that there was no release estimate. Notebookcheck said on October 5 that the repository remained private while Belmante planned a public release. Those are status reports from their publication dates, not confirmation of current availability. Check the project’s own current status before relying on any download claim.
What is official, and what is only reported?
| Option | Status | What the cited sources establish |
|---|---|---|
| Super Mario Bros. Wonder on Nintendo Switch | Official Nintendo game | Nintendo’s developer interview identifies the game as a Nintendo Switch title. |
| Unofficial native-PC project | Reported demonstration; not a Nintendo release | DSOGaming and Notebookcheck describe the project. Notebookcheck reported a private repository and planned public release on October 5, 2026; neither report establishes a public download or Nintendo support. |
Nintendo’s interview describes the game’s Wonder Flowers as transforming courses and gameplay. Director Shiro Mouri said: “Whenever you collect the new item, the Wonder Flower, the course and its gameplay transform dramatically, and a variety of ‘wonders’ occur that would’ve been unimaginable in previous titles in the series.” The interview also names Takashi Tezuka as producer and Mouri as director.
Has Nintendo commented or reacted?
The cited coverage and Nintendo interview contain no direct Nintendo response to the PC project. There is therefore no basis here to say Nintendo is unhappy, angry, preparing legal action, or has even acknowledged it. The headline’s suggestion about Nintendo’s feelings is speculation, not a reported fact.
