What are the EM7100 capsule-mode results?
CHOICE’s public EM7100 page lists product specifications, but the Expert Rating and individual results for taste, ease of use, milk frothing and coffee-temperature consistency are member-only. No capsule-mode score or numerical test result is publicly available on that page, so there is no sound basis for claiming the machine scored well or poorly, or for assigning it a ranking.

The EM7100 uses a separate Multi-Capsule group handle with interchangeable capsule-specific parts, rather than taking capsules in its ground-coffee handle. CHOICE lists Nespresso, Lavazza Mio and Caffitaly holders among the box contents. The manual identifies a black adapter for Nespresso and names Nespresso, Caffitaly and Lavazza A Modo Mio in its trademark disclaimer.

Compatibility should be understood as support for formats matched to the supplied adapters—not universal compatibility with every capsule sold under those brands. Sunbeam says the trademark owners are unaffiliated with the company and have not endorsed the machine or its accessories.
How to use capsule mode
- Choose the capsule adaptor base for the capsule format and install the matching top. The base and top must be the same colour.
- Pierce the capsule as directed, then place it in the adaptor and fit the assembly into the Multi-Capsule group handle. The manual warns that the machine will not pour if the capsule has not been pierced.
- Insert the capsule handle into the machine and press the Capsule button. Sunbeam recommends this button for all capsules.
- For the standard pour, press Capsule once. Sunbeam describes this as approximately 30 ml, while also noting the volume can be about 30–40 ml depending on the capsule.
- For the long pour, press Capsule twice within 0.5 seconds. The manual describes this setting as approximately 110 ml and says it is intended for capsules designed for a long extraction.
Do not substitute the 1 CUP or 2 CUP buttons for capsule mode: the manual specifies those settings for ground coffee. Sunbeam warns that running a standard capsule through the long setting can produce weak, bitter coffee.

What else is documented about the machine?
CHOICE’s public listing describes the EM7100 as a semi-automatic machine with a Multi-Capsule system, twin thermoblock heating, a 3 L water reservoir and a stated pump pressure of 15 bar. It lists dimensions of 35 × 34 × 38 cm, a weight of 10.1 kg, a one-year warranty and China as the country of origin. These are listed specifications, not independent capsule-mode test findings.

Verdict: what the evidence can—and cannot—tell you
The EM7100’s capsule system is documented: it uses interchangeable, colour-matched adapters, has short and long capsule pours, and also supports ground coffee. But the public CHOICE page does not disclose capsule test scores, so it cannot answer how the machine performed for taste, ease of use, frothing or temperature consistency. With the model marked discontinued, verify actual stock, condition and warranty with a seller before relying on the listing price or specifications.
