If your Galaxy A57 5G stops during the One UI 9 startup sequence, force-restart it and complete the boot in Safe Mode. Safe Mode disables third-party apps, and A57 owners have reported that this bypasses the XML or “Access Denied” error. Restart normally afterward; this is a temporary workaround, not a confirmed permanent Samsung fix.
Why some Galaxy A57 phones are not completing One UI 9 startup
The affected software
Samsung’s firmware record identifies One UI 9 build A576BXXU6BZIE for the Galaxy A57 5G (model SM-A576B). The build is based on Android 17, was released on October 12, 2026, and carries the September 5, 2026 security patch.

What owners are seeing
On October 12, 2026, SamMobile reported owner accounts describing a startup block after installing One UI 9.0. Symptoms include an XML-style failure or an “Access Denied” message while the phone is trying to finish setup. A Samsung Community moderator said Samsung had received official information about the problem and was working on a solution.

Boot the A57 into Safe Mode and finish setup
Safe Mode loads core system software while disabling downloaded apps. Samsung describes it as a diagnostic mode: “Safe Mode can be used to diagnose potential issues caused by some third-party applications.” Follow these steps without erasing the phone:
- Force a restart if the phone is frozen. Hold the Side and Volume Down buttons together for more than seven seconds. Release them when the device restarts.
- Open the power menu. When the Samsung logo appears, use the Side and Volume Down controls to reach the power menu.
- Choose Safe mode. Touch and hold Power off until the Safe mode option appears, then tap Safe mode.
- Wait for the startup sequence. The phone should boot with only core system software active. “Safe mode” appears on the display while the mode is running.
- Continue One UI 9 setup. Proceed through the setup or boot sequence while Safe Mode is active. The A57 reports describe this single Safe Mode boot as bypassing the XML error.
- Restart normally. Use the regular restart command after setup completes. A normal restart exits Safe Mode and re-enables downloaded apps.
Safe Mode does not remove personal files or permanently change the firmware. It is reversible, but it also does not constitute a Samsung-confirmed fix for the One UI 9 problem.

If the phone works in Safe Mode, check recently installed apps
A successful Safe Mode boot points toward an app conflict rather than proving that an app is responsible. Samsung states: “If the issue stops when your device is in Safe Mode, this could mean that the issue is being caused by a bug with one of the apps you have installed.”
- Restart normally so you can use the full app list.
- Uninstall the most recently downloaded or updated app.
- Restart the phone and test the same startup or setup path.
- If the problem remains, remove the next most recent app and test again.
Google’s Android Help recommends this one-by-one removal method for restart, freeze and crash problems. Removing apps individually preserves the ability to identify the conflicting app instead of deleting several possible causes at once.

Choose the least destructive recovery option

Check power and accessories before trying again
If the battery may be empty or charging has been unreliable, charge the A57 with a Samsung-certified charger and cable before repeating boot attempts. Remove damaged, loose or non-genuine accessories. An unstable power connection can interrupt a restart and make the software symptom harder to diagnose.

If the same failure persists while Safe Mode is displayed, downloaded apps are disabled, making an app conflict less likely. Samsung says a hardware problem is then more likely; arrange Samsung service or an authorized repair rather than repeatedly forcing restarts.

A factory reset is a last resort. Samsung warns that it removes personal data, may require the Samsung-account credentials previously associated with the phone, and can leave the device requiring the complete initial setup again. Back up photos, messages and other files whenever the phone becomes accessible before considering a reset.
