Stronghold 4 is a planned release with a demo
The current Stronghold 4 Steam listing gives December 7, 2026 as the planned date and provides a demo. Definitive Edition’s Steam description explicitly lists multiplayer for up to eight players, so it is the safer choice if your group wants a released online session.
