Stripe Pricing in 2026: Fees, Products, and What to Know

Stripe’s U.S. standard rate for a successful domestic online card payment is 2.9% + 30¢. That is a starting point, not a complete estimate: manually entered or international cards, currency conversion, in-person payments, and add-on products can change the bill. This review explains Stripe’s published U.S. pricing and product fit; it does not independently test uptime, support, account holds, or customer satisfaction.

What does Stripe charge for online payments?

Stripe lists a fee of 2.9% + 30¢ per successful domestic online card transaction on its U.S. standard pricing page. The published rate is specific to U.S. standard pricing; it should not be assumed to apply in another market or under a custom agreement. Stripe’s U.S. pricing page lists additional charges for some card and currency situations.

  • Manually entered cards: add 0.5 percentage points to the standard online card rate.
  • International cards: add 1.5 percentage points.
  • Currency conversion: add 1 percentage point when conversion is required.

These are listed surcharges, not a universal combined rate: the final fee depends on the payment’s circumstances. For example, an international card that also requires currency conversion can incur both listed additions. Model your actual mix of domestic and international cards, entry methods, and settlement currencies rather than multiplying every surcharge into a single headline figure.

How does Stripe price in-person payments?

Stripe Terminal has a separate U.S. standard rate for domestic in-person card transactions: 2.7% + 5¢ per successful transaction. The pricing page lists an additional 1.5 percentage points for international cards. Tap to Pay has a separately listed additional charge of $0.10 per authorization. These are Terminal prices, not the online card rate. Stripe’s pricing page says Terminal works with pre-certified Stripe hardware or select third-party readers, but does not identify a specific reader model on that page.

#1 Best Overall
Square Terminal - Credit Card Machine to Accept All Payments | Mobile POS
  • With Square Terminal, you can ring up sales, accept payments, and print receipts, all with one device. Use it at the counter or ring up customers anywhere in your store.
  • Accept all major credit and debit cards and pay one low rate with no hidden fees and no long-term contracts.
  • Process chip cards in just two seconds.
  • Get your money as soon as the next business day.
  • Use it cordlessly with the built-in battery, designed to last all day.

Before budgeting for in-person sales, check reader compatibility, availability, shipping, and operational support for the setup you intend to use. The published fee schedule alone does not establish which hardware is suitable or available for a particular business.

What does Stripe charge for subscriptions and billing?

Stripe Billing is a separate product charge in addition to payment processing where applicable. Its U.S. pay-as-you-go price is listed as 0.7% of Billing volume. Stripe defines that volume to include Billing transactions processed on and off Stripe, while excluding one-off invoices. So a subscription payment processed through Stripe can involve both Billing’s product fee and the applicable payment-processing fee; the exact setup matters. See Stripe Billing pricing for the product’s current terms.

The Billing page also lists annual-contract subscription tiers paid monthly, beginning at $620 per month, with additional volume terms. That starting figure is not a universal price for every account: eligibility, volume, and plan fit affect the relevant terms. Review the current plan details before comparing it with pay-as-you-go pricing.

How do Connect and Radar affect the total?

Connect for platforms and marketplaces

Connect fees depend on how the platform handles payment pricing for connected accounts. Stripe describes a Stripe-managed pricing approach as well as platform-controlled pricing; revenue share requires qualification. A marketplace should therefore evaluate the arrangement it needs—not assume one Connect fee applies to every platform. See Stripe Connect pricing for the applicable model and terms.

Radar for fraud controls

Radar has multiple tiers rather than one price that fits every business. The main U.S. pricing page describes pay-as-you-go pricing starting at $0.05 per screened transaction and monthly plans starting at $10. A separate Radar page distinguishes business and platform tiers, so confirm which account type and feature set apply before using either starting figure as a budget. Standard Payments includes Radar Lite; paid options add controls. See Stripe Radar pricing alongside the main pricing page.

Are there monthly fees, setup fees, or refund charges?

Stripe’s standard-pricing FAQ says there are no setup, monthly, or closure fees for standard pricing. That does not make every Stripe product free of recurring or usage-based charges: Billing and Radar, for example, have separate pricing. Custom schedules may differ. Stripe’s FAQ also says that, for most payment methods, issuing a refund has no separate fee, but original processing, Connect, and currency-conversion fees are not returned. Bank transfers may have refund fees.

Is Stripe worth it for a small business?

The available evidence supports a pricing and product-fit assessment, not a verdict on Stripe’s reliability or service experience. Stripe’s published prices can be evaluated against a business’s transaction mix, but the cited official pages do not establish independent uptime, support quality, account-hold rates, dispute outcomes, or customer satisfaction. Those factors matter to a processor decision and are not measured here.

The figures in this article are Stripe-published U.S. standard pricing captured from official pages in 2026, not independently audited prices. Pricing pages can change, and market, product, payment method, taxes, platform setup, or custom agreements may affect the actual total.
