Can my PC run Street Fighter 6? Use Steam’s published minimum and recommended tiers as the starting point, then treat them as compatibility targets rather than guaranteed frame-rate promises. A system at the minimum tier may run the game but can still slow down in graphics-intensive scenes. For the most reliable starting point, meet the recommended CPU, GPU, memory, DirectX and storage specifications, apply Capcom’s troubleshooting sequence, and restart after graphics changes when the game requests it.
Street Fighter 6 system requirements
Steam lists two hardware tiers for the Windows PC version of Street Fighter 6. The minimum tier describes the baseline configuration Capcom and Steam expect for running the game; the recommended tier is a stronger reference point for smoother operation. Neither tier promises a fixed frame rate in every mode or scene. Steam specifically warns that frame rate may drop during graphics-intensive scenes, and every later game update may require additional free storage.

How to compare your PC with the table
Check every row rather than judging the computer by its graphics card alone. A machine can have a suitable GPU but still fall short on 64-bit Windows, system memory, DirectX support or free disk space. Conversely, a newer processor or graphics card that is not named exactly on Steam may still be comparable; the listed models are examples of the expected level, not an exhaustive compatibility list.

Processor comparison
The minimum CPU examples are the Core i5-7500 and Ryzen 3 1200. Steam’s recommended examples move up to the Core i7-8700 and Ryzen 5 3600. These are reference models, not a complete list of compatible processors. A newer CPU may be suitable even when its name does not match one of these examples, but the requirement table alone cannot predict performance for every processor generation.
If your processor is below the minimum examples, first address that shortfall instead of assuming a graphics upgrade will solve every slowdown. If it meets the recommended examples, that satisfies the published CPU comparison, but it still does not create a guaranteed frame-rate result. Drivers, power limits, background programs and the rendered scene can all affect behavior.
Graphics and VRAM
The published minimum graphics examples are a GTX 1060 with 6 GB of VRAM and an RX 580 with 4 GB of VRAM. The recommended examples are an RTX 2070 and an RX 5700 XT. Steam does not attach a VRAM amount to the two recommended examples in the listing, so do not infer one from the minimum row.
Integrated graphics are not a dependable assumption: Capcom says some integrated GPUs may work, but they have not been tested or officially supported. On a desktop, identify the actual discrete card installed. On a laptop, verify which adapter the game is using; a system may contain both integrated and dedicated graphics, and selecting the wrong one can make a machine that appears adequate perform poorly.
Memory, DirectX and storage
Eight gigabytes of RAM is the minimum listing and 16 GB is the recommended listing. DirectX 12 is required in both tiers. The game page lists 60 GB of available storage in each tier, while also warning that additional space is needed for subsequent updates. Installation space and update headroom are separate practical concerns; a drive that is exactly full at install time can still block a later patch.
Check free space before downloading and again before applying a large update. Steam’s figure is not a promise that every future version will fit in exactly the same amount of space. Keeping room beyond the stated 60 GB also gives Steam space to stage update files.
What the requirement tiers do—and do not—tell you
Requirements are a compatibility baseline, not a benchmark. A computer that falls below the minimum may show poor frame rate or fail to run the game, according to Capcom. A computer that meets the minimum can still behave differently depending on its driver version, power mode, background workload, cooling and the scene being rendered. The recommended tier is a stronger starting point, but Steam’s warning about graphics-intensive scenes still applies.

Official sources do not provide a resolution-by-resolution frame-rate chart, mode-specific benchmark results or a universal FPS target. Do not convert the requirement rows into promises such as “60 FPS at 1080p.” Actual results can vary, and no official benchmark threshold is established here. User-uploaded videos and forum anecdotes likewise cannot substitute for a controlled, official performance target.
Use the tiers to answer two different questions. The minimum row asks whether your configuration is within the published baseline for launching and playing. The recommended row asks whether your configuration starts from a stronger hardware position. Neither row answers exactly how a particular monitor resolution, graphics preset or game scene will perform.
Best PC settings for smooth play
When frame pacing is unstable, Capcom’s first documented graphics action is to reduce the game’s Quality settings. Use this exact menu path:
- Start Street Fighter 6 and open the Multi Menu.
- Select Options.
- Open the Graphics tab.
- Under Quality, set the available options to Low or Lowest.
- Apply the changes and restart the game if prompted. Capcom says most graphics-setting changes require a restart to take effect.
This is Capcom’s documented stability recommendation, not a guarantee that every system will reach a particular frame rate. If the game becomes stable, you can raise quality settings gradually and restart whenever required, checking whether the problem returns. Change one group of settings at a time so you know which adjustment affected stability. If lowering Quality does not help, continue with the system checks below rather than assuming that a more powerful graphics card is the only answer.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhy Low or Lowest can help
Quality controls affect the amount of work the graphics processor must perform. Lowering them reduces the rendering load, which is the direct remedy Capcom gives for an unstable frame rate. The official guidance does not identify a single setting that is always responsible, so avoid promising that a particular shadow, texture or resolution switch will solve every case.
Start with the complete Quality group rather than changing isolated options at random. Once stability improves, restore settings in small steps. Record each change and restart as required; this makes it possible to identify the point at which instability returns.
Restart before judging the result
Most graphics changes do not fully apply until the game restarts. Test the game only after completing that restart; otherwise you may be evaluating the old configuration. If you edit settings repeatedly without restarting, keep track of which changes are actually active.

How do I fix low FPS in Street Fighter 6?
Capcom’s Steam troubleshooting guide, updated July 20, 2026, lists a sequence of checks for unstable performance. Work through it in order and note what changes after each step.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Confirm the minimum requirement. Compare your Windows edition, CPU, GPU, VRAM, RAM, DirectX support and free storage with Steam’s minimum row. Capcom says falling below the minimum can cause poor frame rate or prevent the game from running.
- Lower Quality settings. Open Multi Menu → Options → Graphics, set the options under Quality to Low or Lowest, then restart when requested.
- Update the graphics driver. Install the current driver supplied for your GPU model. A driver intended for a different GPU or operating system will not address the underlying problem, so verify the model before downloading.
- Update Windows. Apply available Windows updates and restart the computer. This keeps the operating-system component of the supported configuration current.
- Select the dedicated GPU on a dual-GPU laptop. Some laptops include both integrated and dedicated graphics. Make sure Street Fighter 6 is assigned to the dedicated or high-performance GPU. Capcom notes that some integrated graphics may work but are not officially tested or supported.
- Connect the laptop to power. Run on AC power rather than battery and check the system’s power plan. A power-saving profile can limit available CPU or GPU performance.
- Close resource-heavy applications. Exit programs using substantial CPU, GPU, memory or input/output bandwidth. Examples include applications performing intensive rendering, encoding, large file transfers or other sustained workloads. Recheck the game after closing them.
- Verify the game files in Steam. Use Steam’s file-verification function if instability continues after the earlier steps. This checks the installed files for corruption or missing data and replaces affected files through Steam.
These are Capcom’s troubleshooting suggestions, not universal fixes. If the frame rate remains unstable after the sequence, record the conditions and submit a support report with the information Capcom requests.
Use the symptom to choose your next check
Slowdowns only in demanding scenes
Steam warns that frame rate may drop during graphics-intensive scenes. If the slowdown is limited to those scenes while the rest of the game is stable, first apply the Low or Lowest Quality recommendation and restart. The warning means that even a system meeting the recommended tier is not promised identical performance in every scene.
Low performance everywhere
Persistent low performance across the game calls for a requirements and system review: verify the GPU selected by a dual-GPU laptop, check drivers and Windows, connect AC power, inspect the power plan and close background workloads. Then verify the Steam files. Do not diagnose a GPU limitation until these configuration checks are complete.
Performance changes after an update
Updates need additional storage and can alter installed files. Ensure the drive has free space for the update, restart the game after graphics changes and run Steam’s file verification if instability began after an installation or patch. Note the update date and the first scene where the issue appeared so that information can be included in a support report.
The game will not start
Begin with the minimum row, especially 64-bit Windows, DirectX 12, the listed CPU and GPU class, RAM and free storage. If the computer meets those requirements, update Windows and the graphics driver, confirm that a laptop is using its dedicated adapter, and verify the Steam files. Capcom’s guidance treats falling below minimum specifications as a possible cause of failure to run, but meeting them still does not guarantee that every configuration will launch identically.
Laptop-specific checks
A laptop can contain hardware that appears to meet the table while the game is running on the wrong adapter or a restricted power profile. In the operating system or vendor graphics-control panel, assign the game to the dedicated/high-performance GPU. Connect the charger before launching, select a performance-oriented power plan, and close applications that compete for memory, graphics or disk bandwidth. Capcom’s note about unsupported integrated graphics is important: successful launch on an integrated adapter is not the same as official support.

Repeat the GPU selection check after major driver or Windows updates, because those changes can affect application preferences. If the symptom occurs only while the laptop is unplugged, compare the result on AC power before changing hardware.
Planning a hardware upgrade
Graphics card
If your current GPU is below the published minimum, replacement is the most direct hardware path to the listed baseline. Steam names the RTX 2070 and RX 5700 XT as recommended examples. They are older-generation reference points from the requirement table, not a current market-value buying recommendation. Compare any modern replacement against those examples and confirm that your power supply, case clearance and driver support are suitable; the official requirement listing does not provide those platform details.
A GPU upgrade should be considered only after confirming that the game is not using an integrated adapter, a power-saving mode or an outdated driver. Those conditions can mimic a graphics-card limitation and may be corrected without purchasing new hardware.
Memory
Moving from the 8 GB minimum listing toward 16 GB aligns your system with the recommended memory tier. Check the motherboard’s supported memory type and capacity before purchasing. More memory cannot compensate for an unsupported operating system or an underpowered GPU, so treat it as one part of the complete configuration.
Processor
If your CPU is below the i5-7500 or Ryzen 3 1200 examples, compare a platform upgrade against the recommended i7-8700 or Ryzen 5 3600 class. The Steam page does not specify motherboard compatibility, cooling, power-supply requirements or a particular upgrade path, so those details must be checked for your existing system separately.
Storage
Reserve at least the listed 60 GB for installation and maintain additional free capacity for future updates. The requirement page gives no permanent upper limit for update space, so avoid filling the drive to the installation minimum.

Including the exact settings and the point at which the slowdown starts is more useful than reporting only that the game feels slow. If you changed Quality settings, drivers, power mode or file integrity, note those changes and whether they altered the symptom. Also state whether the issue is constant, limited to graphics-intensive scenes, or began after an update. Do not substitute a general FPS estimate for the requested system details.
Quick pre-launch checklist
