Street Fighter 6 Chun-Li Move List: Special Moves, Supers and Basic Combos

Chun-Li in Street Fighter 6 combines charge-based projectiles, rapid kick specials, a rising anti-air, and a stance that rewards deliberate practice. Learn one dependable normal confirm first, then add Overdrive (OD), Serenity Stream, Drive Rush, and Super Art routes as your execution improves.

How to read Chun-Li’s commands

This guide uses standard Street Fighter notation. A number represents a direction on the numeric keypad: 5 is standing or neutral, 2 is crouching, 6 is forward, 4 is back, and 8 is up. Motion inputs are written as 236 for a quarter-circle forward, 214 for a quarter-circle back, and 623 for a dragon-punch motion. Brackets indicate a charge: [4]6 means hold back, then press forward to complete the move; [2]8 means hold down, then press up.

P means a punch button and K means a kick button. Light, medium, and heavy versions use the corresponding attack strength. OD means Overdrive, performed by pressing two buttons of the required type together. If Chun-Li is facing left, every directional command reverses horizontally: forward becomes 4 and back becomes 6.

Street Fighter 6 has three control types. Classic uses the traditional six-button layout and full motion commands. Modern assigns specials to simplified button combinations. Dynamic is intended for quick offline play and is restricted to certain Fighting Ground modes, so it is not a full replacement for Classic or Modern in every mode.

Chun-Li’s special moves in detail

Kikoken: the charged projectile

Perform [4]6P: hold back, then press forward and a punch button. Chun-Li releases a projectile, and the punch strength changes its speed and travel behavior. The charge is the important part; tapping back immediately before the forward motion is not a substitute for holding the direction.

You can build charge while blocking, walking backward, crouching, or waiting at a distance. In neutral, keep a back or down-back charge whenever the situation allows, then complete the motion when you want the projectile. During a combo, plan the charge before the normal that confirms the hit. If you start from a neutral position and try to charge only after the confirm, the opportunity may disappear before Kikoken is available.

Hundred Lightning Kicks

Use 236K. The kick button determines the version, while OD Hundred Lightning Kicks uses two kick buttons together. This is one of Chun-Li’s most recognizable combo tools because the quarter-circle-forward motion can follow many grounded attacks without requiring a charge.

Use the light, medium, or heavy version according to the route you are practicing rather than assuming one version is always best. The move can finish a simple confirm, extend an OD route, or help maintain pressure when the spacing is appropriate. Watch the opponent’s position: a route that works close to the corner may not connect from midscreen.

Aerial Hundred Lightning Kicks

During a vertical or forward jump, perform 236K in the air. The timing is different from the grounded version because the motion must be completed before landing. Practice the input first from a neutral jump, then from a forward jump, so you can feel when Chun-Li is high enough to complete the motion without buffering it too early.

Spinning Bird Kick

Perform [2]8K: hold down, then press up and a kick button. Spinning Bird Kick is a core combo ender and an anti-air tool. The down charge is also what makes it demanding in confirms: you need to preserve that charge while using the preceding normal.

The OD version requires two kick buttons and enables stronger follow-up routes. A practical beginner habit is to hold down-back while waiting for a punish or while crouching under pressure. When a grounded normal confirms, complete the up motion and choose the version your route calls for. Do not force the move when the required charge was never stored; use a different ender or reset to neutral instead.

Hazanshu

Use 214K. Hazanshu moves Chun-Li forward and functions as an overhead-style approach attack. Its version changes speed and frame properties, so the choice affects how quickly she reaches the opponent and what situation follows on contact or block.

Treat Hazanshu as a timing and movement option, not an automatic way through defense. It is most useful when the opponent expects a grounded normal, is respecting your space, or is positioned far enough away that the forward movement matters. Vary the version and combine it with ordinary approaches so the motion does not become predictable.

Tensho Kicks

Perform 623K. Tensho Kicks rises into the opponent and is a common anti-air and combo ender. The dragon-punch motion asks for a clean forward, down, and down-forward sequence; avoid sliding through extra directions if you are trying to react quickly to a jump.

In combos, Tensho Kicks often comes after a move that leaves the opponent at the correct height. In neutral, use it when you have identified a jump rather than throwing it out without confirmation. Its rising trajectory makes it a natural answer to airborne attacks, but a missed anti-air can leave Chun-Li vulnerable.

Serenity Stream

Serenity Stream is Chun-Li’s stance. In Classic notation, access it with the quarter-circle-back kick input, then use the attack buttons for stance follow-ups. Those follow-ups are central to advanced pressure and combo routes.

Because the stance’s exact button labels and behavior are displayed in the in-game command list, check that list after patches before committing a sequence to muscle memory. Start by learning how to enter Serenity Stream from a confirmed normal, identify one follow-up that reaches the opponent reliably, and only then add Drive Rush or OD resources. The stance is powerful precisely because it adds choices; learning every branch at once makes confirms less consistent.

Super Arts

Super Art Classic input Modern shortcut Typical role
Level 1: Kikosho 236236P Neutral or forward + Special + Heavy Fast Super Art option for a confirmed hit or ender
Level 2: Hoyoku-sen 236236K Back + Special + Heavy Mid-level Super Art route when the required gauge is available
Level 3/Critical Art: Soten Ranka 214214K Down + Special + Heavy Highest-level Super Art and Critical Art option

Classic players must complete the two quarter-circle motions shown above. Modern players use the directional shortcut plus Special and Heavy. Save Super cancels for confirmed hits or deliberate punish situations: spending gauge on a blocked normal or an uncertain poke can leave you without the resource needed for a guaranteed ender. Capcom’s combo-trial mode is designed to teach practical combinations, so use it to learn the timing of each Super cancel instead of trying to improvise the motion in a match.

A practical Chun-Li combo learning path

1. Build a reliable normal confirm

Start with standing medium punch into crouching medium punch. The goal is not maximum damage; it is recognizing that the first normal connected and completing the second normal without hesitation. In training mode, record the dummy to block after the first hit. If your second normal is blocked, you should be able to see whether you are confirming late, pressing too slowly, or using the wrong cancel timing.

Once the two normals are consistent, finish with a safe special when the required charge is available. A common example is st.MP > cr.MP > Spinning Bird Kick. Hold down or down-back before the standing normal so the charge is ready by the time crouching medium punch connects. If you cannot maintain the charge, practice the same confirm into another available ender rather than abandoning the hit.

2. Add an OD extension

After the basic confirm is automatic, practice the published SF6 Lab route:

st.MP > cr.MP > OD Spinning Bird Kick > Light Hundred Lightning Kicks > Heavy Tensho Kicks

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This route combines a charge special, an OD version, a light lightning-kick follow-up, and a rising Tensho Kicks finish. Learn each link separately. First make OD Spinning Bird Kick connect after crouching medium punch; then add Light Hundred Lightning Kicks; finally practice the Heavy Tensho Kicks timing. If the final move misses, check the opponent’s height and your spacing before changing the whole sequence.

Street Fighter 6 - PS5
  • Classic Experience Built for a Modern Era: With all core gameplay modes present, plus two brand new modes and enhanced visuals, Street Fighter 6 redefines the classic fighting game genre.
  • Distinct Fighting Styles to Master: 18 diverse characters including legendary World Warriors and exciting brand new characters add their own flair to the game at launch, with more to be added post-launch.
  • Brand New Game Modes: The Street Fighter franchise continues to hone its skills and redefine the fighting genre with the introduction of three new foundational modes – Fighting Ground, World Tour and Battle Hub.
  • In-Game Commentating: Street Fighter’s first-ever Real-Time Commentary Feature, supported with subtitles in 13 languages, incorporates the voices of popular Fighting Game Community (FGC) commentators like Vicious and Aru directly into the game to narrate what is happening on-screen just like a real tournament.
  • Two New Control Schemes: Classic Controls returns alongside two brand new options: Modern Controls allow you to perform special attacks with simple button combinations and are designed for players who want to fight without memorizing and practicing special move button combinations first. Dynamic Controls only require a press of the Auto-Attack button to perform attacks and is a great control type to use when you have friends and family over for a quick, casual game.

3. Introduce Drive Rush and Serenity Stream

Do not add Drive Rush or stance branches until the basic confirm works under pressure. SF6 Lab also documents routes that use Serenity Stream and OD Kikoken before a normal and a Spinning Bird Kick ender. These routes demand more planning because you are managing stance access, charge timing, and Drive Gauge resources at the same time.

Choose one stance route and one Drive Rush route. Practice them from the same starter you use in ordinary matches, then test the route from midscreen and near the corner. The objective is a dependable conversion, not memorizing every possible branch.

4. Add Super cancels last

Super Arts should be reserved for confirmed hits and resource-aware enders. Practice the cancel in combo trials first, then repeat it from your normal confirm with the dummy set to random guard. If the dummy blocks, stop the sequence; if it is hit, complete the Super. This trains the decision that matters in a real match: spend gauge only when Chun-Li has actually connected.

Classic, Modern, and Dynamic controls

Control type Execution Precision Availability and trade-offs
Classic Traditional six buttons and full motion inputs Full command selection and manual strength choices Best for players who want the complete motion-input system; requires charge and motion practice
Modern Simplified button combinations for specials and Supers Faster access to listed moves, with less manual input selection Useful when execution is the barrier; damage or scaling differences must be checked for the current game version rather than assumed
Dynamic Designed for quick, assisted offline play Not intended as a full command-input layout Limited to certain Fighting Ground modes

Modern’s Chun-Li shortcuts include Hundred Lightning Kicks with neutral plus Special, Tensho Kicks with forward plus Special, Kikoken with back plus Special while charging, Hazanshu with down plus Special, and Aerial Hundred Lightning Kicks with Special during a vertical or forward jump. The Super shortcuts are listed in the table above.

Choose Classic if you want direct control over every strength and motion. Choose Modern if the priority is getting Chun-Li’s core tools onto the screen quickly while you learn spacing and confirms. Do not assume a numerical Modern damage penalty without checking the current authoritative game data; the trade-off can vary by move and version. Dynamic is suitable for short offline sessions, but its restricted mode availability makes it a poor choice for a complete long-term move-list workflow.

Training-mode checklist

  • Set the dummy to random guard so you must confirm hits instead of autopiloting.
  • Practice holding down-back, then complete [2]8K after st.MP and cr.MP.
  • Record a jump-in and react with Tensho Kicks to learn the 623K motion.
  • Test each Kikoken punch strength from the range where you intend to use it.
  • Practice grounded and aerial 236K separately; the jump timing is not identical.
  • Check Hazanshu at different distances so you know when its forward movement reaches.
  • Open the current command list for Serenity Stream after every major balance patch.
  • Rehearse one OD route, one Drive Rush or stance route, and one Super cancel rather than collecting unfinished sequences.

Troubleshooting common input problems

Kikoken does not come out

You probably released the back charge too early or completed the forward motion before the punch input. Hold [4] or [2] during the preceding movement, then finish the direction and attack together. If Chun-Li is facing left, remember that the visual direction for charge-back changes.

Spinning Bird Kick gives a jump

The down charge was not held long enough, or the up input was too cleanly separated from the kick button. Hold down or down-back during your normal, then press up and kick as one completion. Training mode’s input display will show whether the charge was preserved.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Tensho Kicks becomes a normal attack

Check the 623 sequence: forward, down, then down-forward. Pressing straight up after forward often produces a jump instead of the dragon-punch motion. Slow the motion down until the input display shows all required directions, then increase speed.

A combo drops after OD Spinning Bird Kick

Confirm that you used the OD version, that the preceding hit connected at the intended distance, and that Light Hundred Lightning Kicks was timed for the opponent’s falling height. Practice the follow-up from a repeatable starter before adding Drive Rush or stance variations.

Recommended order for real matches

  1. Use crouching and standing normals to establish range while preserving a down or back charge when possible.
  2. Confirm a hit with st.MP into cr.MP.
  3. End with Spinning Bird Kick when the charge is ready, or use a simpler available finish.
  4. Anti-air deliberate jumps with Tensho Kicks rather than guessing.
  5. Use Kikoken to control space and Hazanshu to vary your approach timing.
  6. Spend OD, Drive Gauge, and Super resources only on routes you can execute consistently.
  7. Add Serenity Stream branches after your basic confirm survives random-guard practice.

That progression gives Chun-Li a functional game plan before advanced stance routing: control distance with Kikoken, threaten with her kick specials, anti-air with Tensho Kicks, and convert confirmed normals into a practiced ender.
